*snoid_zero. Common problem yang dashboard-door trim mis alignment, mine have that on both sides, passenger side worse than driver side,, i did not notice it before but a passenger pointed it to me... Not a big issue but it is frustrating that this issue is still rampant on late-build explorers. As far as i know, no official remedy (TSB) is being offered by Ford even in the US.
*kendy88. cons will really depend on what are you comparing the explorer to. If you compare it to a Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 for example, you get better features, handling and FC at a much lower price but you get less off-road capability, if you compare it to Mazda CX9, you get better looks, same or better FC, more features but less sporty driving. If you compare it to a sedan thats another thing.
As far as the comment that the explorer as 'maalog', that would be the farthest thing you Attribute the explorer to... The explorer is very composed in both rough road and high speed runs. I think it has a great balance between luxury and handling. That' s why some call the new explorer 'the thinking man's range rover evoque'
Now that you've mentioned about the dashboard-door misalignment, I checked mine today, oo nga ganon din. Akala ko ganyan talaga design pero mukhang di pala hehe! Anyway, ok lang yan, nothing major to be concerned about.
Oh I have one complaint about the Explorer...
Trunk door opens automatic (re: opens all the way up). You can set it to manual (for the mall guards to peak inside since they don't open trunks wide open). However, when you set to manual, trunk will only open manually when you open it from the outside (pag sa loob, automatic pa din kahit naka-manual mode), ang problema hindi alam ng guard kung saan yung pag bukas ng trunkSo in the end, di na nila binubuksan pero hassle lang coz you have to tell them where it is.
Hi all! Got my unit last May 10 (I'm from Cebu). So far my issues are:
1. Persistent moist on the signal light sa Right side mirror. Replacement will be installed this week as scheduled by the dealer.
2. MFT medyo mabagal to operate but dealer said update is coming.
3. Mis-alignment sa passenger door.
4. I'm not sure if we have the wiper/rain sensor, but dealer said meron daw. Unfortunately mine doesn't work. They said they will check again on my visit.
5. A little getting use to the techs inside.
So far I'm very happy with the unit. Roomy inside. Very comfortable to drive. Smooth suspension. Love the auto third row seat (ample baggage space compartment even with the 3rd row seat upright). My FC got 4.8 km/lit city drive.
And most importantly, ang ganda tingnan ng explo!![]()
Thanks everybody for the warm welcome
By the way, these are my recent discovery sa explo. Sorry, didn't read the manual-- ang kapal kasi!
1. Capable pala mag receive ng wifi signal. Was able to pick up a signal while parking sa bahay and was able to log sa network.... sayang walang built-in browser ang explo :P
2. GPS hardware is present, pero walang map.... there's an option na "Where am I" but coordinates lang ang display.
3. The tire sensor really works! It was beeping two days ago. Immediately I made a visual check sa wheels but all looked fine. I thought baka ang sensor busted. Went to a tire shop before going to the dealer. One tire was low on pressure (30psi the rest was 36psi). When they removed the wheel from the rim, there was a nail almost an inch protruding inside without its head, good thing it did not reach the rim! ----Problem with the sensor is it doesn't tell you which tire is low in pressure.
I'm hoping na merong "cydia" ang MFT, para maging futue-proof system natinMaybe we can install maps na, or use our pocketwifi's to log sa internet, google maps, internet radio ..... haaaay, the possibility is endless! Bili na kayo ng explo!!!! :D
I just a word from my agent. Beginning Monday 11-June-2012 will impose a price increase of Ford Explorer. It will be 2,595,000. It will be 2013 Ford Explorer. It will be the same specs in U.S like;
BLISS
HID
Park assist
Rain sensing wiper and Headlight.
Etc...
It is a full option Explorer they said.
I don't know if the price increase is acceptable. But I'm happy that i took my unit with the present price. 221,000 price increase is incredible.
Wow, what an increase. That's almost 350K in a span of 6 months. They sell those features separately. I'm interested sa HID & parking sensor.
This are the features for 2013 Ford Explorer that they will release with a tag price of 2,595,000. Worth to own?
Luxury Seating Package
Voice-Activated Navigation System
BLIS® Plus Inflatable Rear-Seatbelt Package
Active park assist
Adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support
Rain-sensing wipers
HID headlamps
3.51 axle ratio
I think those features are worth to have at that price point if you really need/want them...
I would want the navigation system although we just need software for our 2012 units to work.
The BLIS... maybe, but I just want a side mirror without the small convex mirror.
Active park assist... I would probably use it once or twice.
Adaptive cruise control... not really useful to me with the route I usually use, the nature of our highways and the discipline of drivers.
Rain sensing wipers... I like fiddling with the controls manually when it's raining
HID headlamps... Oh yeah I need these.
3.51 final drive ratio... it improves acceleration but can increase fuel consumption
But honestly... Even at that price with the 2012 features alone, I will still get an Explorer
for me that's worth the increase if you want all of those features added. i only like the HID, navigation, BLIS anyway all the other features i can live with out.
wait are they going to sell HID and BLIS as accessories in the feature or you we're just hoping that they will?
anyway i wonder if active park assist will work accurately in the philippines since parallel parking in the philippines has very small space compared to other countries where other people who parked leaves a lot of space in front and at the back.
Maswerte pala kami. We're gonna placed a reservation sa Global City, Libis, and EDSA within the week. Tinext sa akin kanina ni Rona Marquez ng Global City na may price increase ang Explorer, and puro 2013 models na yung darating. And yes, she confirmed that most of the features na meron sa U.S. meron na rin dito. My dad would be really happy after I'll be informing him.
My only gripe sa Explorer is that after viewing the display unit sa Libis, I've noticed that the Explorer is too low for a SUV. Parang mas mataas pa yung Tucson. And our Montero has a higher ground clearance than the Explorer Naisip ko na yung parang mud guard sa may front wheels might get scraped sa steep inclines during initial ascent.
