January 10th, 2009 07:43 PM #481I have a starex 2k model TCI engine. 6months ago i had my injector nozzle tip replaced at bosch banawe nozzle tip is bosch 130. Previous Fuel consumption before the replacement was around 7.5km/li but my ride was a bit sluggish. After tip replacement, the FC now is 6 to 6.5km/li but the power improved. I still feel that the FC is far from the average as some other starex of same engine and model even lower have an average of 7 to 8km/li. Should i have my injection pump recalibrated? FC is influenced by a lot of conditions: eg. road & driving conditions, average number of passengers, aircon temp setting, fuel injection pump settings, etc..... Your injection pump can be tested to verify if it's settings conform to specs, and/or adjusted as necessary.
My other concern though this is not bout fuel system but i would appreciate if you can advice me though, is that on highway when i reach around 85kph my tranny locks at override and its suppose to stay locked at that speed or above. The problem is i need to keep a press on the pedal to keep my tranny locked. IF i relax a bit on the pedal, it downshifts and the rpm increases indicating a downshift in gear. What do you think should i do? This is the first time I've heard of such problem. So I don't have an answer at the moment. But I can study this and ask around.
By the way, is your injection pump electronically controlled?

January 18th, 2009 02:47 AM #483Hi Iceman,
Can't post a fix for your tranny problem. Haven't had the opportunity to check on this issue. And I'll be away for a while on diesel training.
I'll post you if something comes up.
Try to ask an opinion from your nearest dealer.
Bye

March 13th, 2009 03:47 AM #484Hey,
My EX12D 4 cyl diesel Honda generator injector pump is leaking fuel from the deliver valve holder or (outlet ports).
Can I remove these without causing any damage or decalibration?
There is a plate with 2 bolts that appears to hold each one down but they are 5 point heads (pentagon)and will require a special tool.
The outlet ports are steel and the pump housing is aluminum, I'm wondering if the threads are corroded?
Thanks for your time.

I believe you can remove the hexagonal delivery valve holder to replace the seals.

These screws are specifically made to tamperproof the pump. I don't recommend that you loosen these as pump calibration will be affected.
The outlet ports are steel and the pump housing is aluminum, I'm wondering if the threads are corroded? This is possible. But limit your checking to the DV holder only. Your leakage problem will probably be corrected.
Thanks for your time. You're welcome.

March 21st, 2009 09:49 PM #486Dieseldude need your expert advice about my subic pajero 4m40.
1. Ang lakas sa oil almost 1 liter every week. Wala naman leak.
2. Hard starting sa morning and everytime na i park siya, kailangan i pump yung fuel para mag start. Sometimes maraming beses pa rin na try bago mag start, kahit pump mo pa yung diesel.
3. Laging namamtayan ng makina kahit nasa rekta, then pump muna ulit bago mag start.
4. Eratic Idling
5. Nung last cleaning ng fuel lines and fuel tank pansin namin na madumi parang may halong langis yung tank.
6.As of my last reading 4.9 km/liter fuel consumption ko.
I'm from Tacloban City leyte if ever pwede ko ba padala jan yung injector kung kailangan ng i calibrate then ship niyo nalang ulit pag nagawa na? How much po charge niyo estimate para maayos ko yung budget? Ilang days po matapos?
TIA

Subic 4M40s come in two injection pump versions, regular rotary mechanical pump or elctronic COVEC F pump. Which one do you have?

Your complaints seem to indicate an injection pump failure. But first check your glow plugs and glow plug relay. If these are ok, your injection pump may be faulty.

Rough estimate is 6 to 9k for the injection pump. Work duration is 1 to 2 days.

March 23rd, 2009 07:35 PM #490My mechanic suggested to do a top overhaul first to check the oil leak he suspects that the valve seal is the culprit since wala naman ibang leak sa engine. I ask him also to change all the fuel line hose, check the egr, change the air element and fuel filter to oem.
Sir affected din ba shifting ng AT from first to second gear pag cold pa yung engine pag faulty yung fuel injector? I'm experiencing this every morning pero pag normal temp na yung engine wala naman problema shifting, yung first to 2nd gear lang talga problema sa umaga.
Probably looks like a Coke sakto. Yes, where did you buy it?
