Is BYD really better than Toyota? Breakthrough Chinese tech to power the all-new RAV4 Hybrid and Corolla hatch to over 1km driving range: Reports - Car News | CarsGuide

In this instance, the Fang Cheng Bao 5 pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with twin electric motors to deliver a total 500kW and 760Nm.

Critically, the plug-in hybrid will travel as far as 120kms in EV-only mode thanks to its 31.4kWh battery – essentially making the working week emissions free. Combined with the fuel tank, a total driving range in excess of 1000kms is possible.

According to BestCar, Toyota's just-revealed new engine family will provide the petrol power, with the brand whipping the covers off a 1.5-litre turbo and non-turbo engine and a bigger 2.0-litre turbocharged unit. Both target higher efficiency and better fuel economy.

I don't think so. Article says they're probably adopting BYD's DM-i system, which is a CVT with the electric motor integrated into the housing.

And I prefer to call Nissan's e-power the "locomotive tech"

for my personal use... Zenix V vs Q... 6 years.

Pero the Q has ADAS and coding exemption...
As per other members of the Zenix group - under powered daw yung V

It looks like there will be a class-action lawsuit vs Mercedes in Korea. The assertion is that Merc deceived Korean customers, promising CATL batteries but actually putting Farasis Energy ones instead.

From the Korea JoongAng Daily report:

“It’s definitely an intention to deceive customers. How could a luxury brand like Mercedes use batteries from a brand that no one has heard of and never notify us?” said Jeon Kang-hwan, an owner of a Mercedes EQE 350+.

“I would never have bought a Mercedes if I knew my car was powered by Farasis batteries or even if the automaker mentioned nothing about the battery brand,” Jeon said. “I purchased the car just because it was marketed as having CATL batteries.”

based yan sa pesonal gamit ko.

initial estimate ko lang yan. pero now that I'm using the Zenix... medyo mapapabilis siguro kasi we use the car a lot
    - no coding.
    - tapos yung dating rides namin ni misis sa Vespa nabawasan na din since mas matipid sa gas yung 1 Zenix compared to 2 Vespas.

I asked because if for short term trips lang, kailan kaya maka break-even sa mga ICE cars if need na mag replace battery niya.

sa akin kasi. I stopped looking at "kailangan ma-break even yung cost ng hybrid"

Kicks or the Corolla Cross - wala naman syang non-hybrid version
same with the Camry and Rav-4

Zenix - lower end model yung non-hybrid
same with the Yaris Cross - you even get a sun roof for the hybrid version

my wife wanted a 7 seater -> ayaw nya ng diesel, ayaw nya ng Chinese brand

she tried to look at the CR-V pero the TOTL was a 5 seater lang.
I was pushing for a Mazda - kaso big factor yung walang coding.

siguro problem na nung 2nd owner yung battery later on.

pero like I always mention sa colleagues na alangan pa din sa hybrid... yung CVT ng Honda is non-repairable... 300K+ replacement nya as per Honda's service advisor... each car will have its own risk. and important is you buy the car you want na afford mo.

    +1

There really is a lot of fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) in the Philippines with regard to cars. It's probably because cars are relatively expensive here compared to our standard of living.

I recall back in the day people were really fearful of automatic transmissions, power windows, and ECU's (kesyo madaling masira at mahal ipaayos). And then the Koreans arrived and people were doubtful of Hyundais and Kias too.

For those who are planning to buy their only car or a second car, it really does make sense to get a car you feel passionate about, particularly since there will always be compromises regardless.

if you dont travel a lot (less than 10 or 15tkm a year) then you shouldn't worry about the battery. batteries have been recorded to go over 300,000 miles and some even more. Hybrids and Ev are sold in the US and other countries for more than 10 years. yet i have not seen a major clamor about battery replacement. EV are best for pure city driving, Hybrids if you do mix or a lot of highway drives.

Like stated by the above post. pinoys have always been weary of new technology, i remember those days in the 80'2 and 90's when older pinoys would not recommend new tech like Power windows(nasisira agad), Automatic transmission (sirain, mahal palitan), power steering (sirain), turbos ( needs to be replaced after 50tkm/100tkm), power locks (sirain/malolock ka daw sa loob ng kotse), etc. Same with Ev and Hybrids.

Sa daily trips niyo, nakaka ilang km/L ang Zenix?
Curious na mas tipid FC nito sa 2x na MCs.
