Yes, price is a big factor.

Still not sold on EVs yet. Local infrastructures leave much to be desired and traditional jeepneys should have been phased out by now if they already heavily favor it. Hybrid is still the best option here so far if people want something different than ICE.

Toyota was right all this time ... yet they got bashed for not concentrating on EVs ... they are still pushing for Hydrogen fuel as the answer ...

As deep as the CPC/PRC government's treasury.

"China Obersver" isn't what you'd call a reliable source, to be honest.

It's actually not just price. Even the hybrid powertrain of the likes of BYD are far superior to that of Toyota, who used to rule the roost on the hybrid side.

Was able to drive the BYD Sealion the other day, I would say its power, features, riding comfort and NVH is far superior than any mainstream japanese, american or european brand of similar size, or even their more expensive models.

Ang question nalang is kung magtatagal or matibay ba.

Do the materials inside also feel premium? No hard plastics, etc?

Comparable to the Maxda CX9. It was just a quick drive around a few blocks. Did not feel any rattles or hard shakes/bumps when driver over a part of the road where I normally will feel some shaking when driving other cars.

Wala naman talaga tayong makikitang reliable source about what's happening in China dahil naka sensor nga sila.
Knowing na lumabas sila sa site na yan means those concern private citizen are sharing what actually really happen inside.

About the topic, is it really the BYD vs Toyota on the Market Share upward (China EV), downward (Jap EV) trend?
Or the other China EV car manufacturers are catching up as well?

China EV upward ... for now ... until whatever they cut corners in manufacturing breaks ... or gets exposed ... or the state subsidies run out ... remember the Takata airbags fiasco? ... or VW emissions cheating ... these went on for years ... until the dam broke ...

I computed it and I dont think an electric car is worth it if that is one's only way of charging

An Atto 3 does 6.7km per KWH, which at that charging rate costs P5.2 per KM. A comparatively sized, similarly priced Corolla Cross does about 17KM/L. At P60 per liter, it costs P3.52 to run it. Of course, charging at home will halve the cost of running the electric car but not everyone has that benefit. Probably better to get a Corolla Cross or Sealion if one cant charge at home at all.

Unless you got a solar charging system at home, PHEV or HEV.

Home charging less than 20.00/kwhr. Way less, or maybe free if naka solar.

Total cost of ownership might still lean to the Atto 3. The no-charging-at-home part will seriously suck, though.
