Naka receive na kami ng memo that Petron will phase out Xtra Unleaded. It will be replaced with "Xtra Premium E10". Pero it'll probably happen soon.

Forwarded ng HR namin yung memo. Our company issues us Petron Fleet Card.

I am fine with that since all our gasoline powered cars are E10 compatible. In fact since last years run up in prices and even now that prices have dived I still use E10 and I have no problems with it at all, but pano yung mga tao with cars that are not E10 compatible? Will they be forced to buy newer cars that are E10 compatible?

Maybe they can convert them to run on LPG?

ngek. so there may be truth in what the gas boys said. patay kaming hindi e10 compliant kung within the year agad ang phasing out. sana naman hindi.

Pwede rin... Pero LPG conversion is expensive and we assume people still using old cars are not that moneyed...

When I gassed up sa Caltex EDSA cor. Connecticut, ganun din sinabi ng gasoline boy nila when I asked for Techron Silver, sabi nile e10, Gold at Diesel na lang meron nila, phase out na daw Silver nila.

Sa may Caltex Ortigas Ave cor McKinley Road, near Unimart in Greenhills, may Silver pa but nabanggit din ng gasoline boy na papalitan yata ng e10 eventually.

Mukhang mapipilitan mga non-e10 compliant cars to move up and load up with Petron XCS, Shell VPower and Caltex Gold or equivalent products from the other players.

Going back to topic, I think strategy ng gas companies ang pag-halo ng 10% ethanol (E10) sa basic unleaded nila, to increase profit. I don't think they will lower the price significantly, compared to the savings it will bring them because of cheaper ethanol.

Mine is also a 2E engine, been using E10 since they started selling it, adjusted the air fuel mixture to more fuel by half a screw turn, and cleaning the air filter more often, replaced the fuel fiter after 2 oil changes its ok to run, combined city highway still at 10 to 9 kpl-- FYI

If this will be true for the big3, then I need to go up one level for my petrol,- XCS, Premium or Gold....

actually that's the idea. for those unsure of the effects of what E10 might bring to their car, the safest choice is to buy the more expensive gasoline.

    galing ng strategy no

What does karma have to do with it?

This will be a disaster in the making. The "clean-air" law is going to give the petroleum companies bigger incomes due to the government subsidy in the E10 and bio-diesel blended fuels. We shouldn't overlook the fact that the price for E10 is cheaper only because of the government subsidy, otherwise it should be slightly more expensive than regular gasoline and diesel fuel.

If the government is serious about getting the air clean, it should fast track the phase out of two-stroke scooters and motorcycles. In it's place, it can promote plug-in electric scooters which are relatively cheap in China.

    update ko lang.

since we learned that the Shell stations near our place do not sell non-E10 unleaded any more, we shifted to Seaoil. just today, my wife asked the gasboy at Seaoil if they plan to phase out premium unleaded. ang sabi sa kanya, matagal na daw sila nagphase out nun! mga 2 months na silang E10 unleaded! so the past 2-3 fillups we had at Seaoil ay E10 na! di lang daw nila na update yung signages nila. for 2 months??

anyway, kaya pala since nagshift kami to Seaoil, hirap sa cold starting ang carbed car namin. before, one click lang. ngayon mga 4-5 tries na. same thing happens kung matagal na babad sa init yung car. di agad nagsstart.

my theory is, the fact is ethanol dries up faster than gasoline. so the reserve gas sa "tasa" ng carb e natutuyo agad so it takes more time for the fuel pump to sip gas from the tank and start the engine. correct me if i'm wrong though.

anyway, so far yun palang ang napapansin kong problem. not sure about the long term effects and i haven't checked the fuel filter kung nabara ng dumi na nilinis ng ethanol. hopefully walang magiging problem or di tirikan wife ko. i'll have the car checked sa weekend to be sure na rin.

E10 Ethanol, bad for your engine & economy? [MERGED]
