    I always thought that we should have bridge program from conventional fuel to biofuel such as ethanol. I'm thinking of utilizing the natural gas reserve of our country for vehicle use. I'm not a technical person but I've read some Innova from India that are capable of using this. There are buses that are already testing natural gas. And necessary infrastructure are are already being built at least for the buses.

    Natural Gas requires a very heavy CNG (compressed NG) tank. It is much heavier than the equivalent LPG tank because of the higher pressures. That means only trucks and buses can make practical use of CNG.

    BTW, we have no practical infrastructure for CNG. The one and only CNG station is located along SLEX...

    That sucks considering there are possible sites near Palawan and the Spratlys that are rich in natural gas. Who knows, maybe the real future all-Filipino car runs on CNG. Now if only government will stop selling the oil and gas fields to foreigners...

    EDIT:

    I decided to fill the tank up with premium unleaded after reading this. I haven't seen an E10 info sign on the pump, so it may be "real" gasoline. Premium gas yielded better mileage. I won't fill it up with unleaded again.

    Er... yeah. The car would be size of a Corolla but half the car is the CNG tank, 1/4 is the modified diesel engine and the last 1/4 is the single seat for the driver.

    Looks like I'm sticking to XCS or Gold. Will try the latter on my next fill to see the difference in FC.

    Yup, maybe we can use all the hot air coming out from all our politicians to power turbines to generate electricity? We seem to have a vast supply of it every year anyway.

    if ever anyone's going to build/sell a car that runs on 100% ethanol...two things are certain:

    -- it will only succeed only if it is economically viable for both parties(seller and buyer). Look at the LPG phenomenon, it didn't take any tax breaks or laws. Then, take a look at the CNG project...papress- press release pa, and i've only seen one CNG bus running since the project started.

    -- it will come from the private sector, not the government...for reason already stated above.

    Are they saying that all gasoline cars are affected?

    The article (or Petron) made a serious oversight by not specifying the kind of car or engine and fuel system they did their tests on, whether it's E10-compatible or not.

    The problem is that not all cars are e10 compatible and many motorcycles which provide transport and livelihood for the "masa", are not. If the government forces companies to blend ethanol into all gasolines... we're in big trouble.

    Are you talking about my car? Diba paunahan tayo sa dami ng mods?

    I have the LPG... then I'll get the alcohol injection... then the E85 emulator from SeaOil... ...just don't know where I'll fit the CNG tank...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    I gas both my cars at Flying V San Juan branch, meron silang E10 Unleaded and pure unleaded hehe. Tinanong ko sila baka kasi inuubos nalang ang stock na pure gas, ayun, basta ang kailangan lang pala eh bawat oil company ay may E10 product so ako eh solve naman.

    Bro.,- if your gasoline is Shell, - then all of their variants,- unleaded, premium and V-Power are e10-blended.......

    Thanks. But my point is, without them specifically stating if E10 compatible cars are exempt from their study, it can be construed that such cars are also affected. And by extension, it contradicts Honda's or other car manufacturers' position on the use of E10 in cars supposedly designed for E10 blended fuel.

    In other words, if I'm driving a non-E10 compatible car, I am in a position to complain if the government would mandate the use of E10 exclusively. However, if I'm already driving an E10 compatible car, should I be worried?

    Not as much but your fuel mileage will still suffer due to the ethanol in the gasoline.

    Heh. Maybe the only way they could protect motorist is to first, replace the Xtra Unleaded gasoline with blended ethanol to the original one, the pure one.

    I`ll just continue fueling my car up with XCS, i`ll switch to xtra unleaded if they bring back the pure one.

    been reading this thread. filled 2x with unleaded e10 of shell and now i'm, trying the super premium. so far ok naman sya.

    so if all the shell products have e10, does petron and caltex have products that doesn't have e10?

    In that case, the E10 Premium yields better mileage. But I'd try XCS next time and see what happens.
