There's talk of a facelift in the other thread, but I'm not sure if they're bringing it here.

Toyota is indeed an excellent, practical family car.

ok so both the altis and the civic are good performing cars,
but can their owners advise, which car do you think has the lower price for service/parts (when using casa service) and easier to maintain (after the warranty has expired and you are free to try other shops). advice the price of the typical 5k or 10k(for honda i think) PMS.
and can you give details in your period of ownership, what major part/s brokedown e.g waterpump or power steering unit and others, can these be claimed against the warranty?
we are interested in another 1.6 AT car since we will be retiring our 10yr old corolla and will soon visit the showrooms but ito research muna sa tsikot.com.
it seems for me the Altis 1.6E AT is the "safer" choice but even if the civic VTi-S_AT costs about php27k more, you get more standard items like foglamps, rear disc brakes, opitron gauges, abs-ba plus ebd also, 15" mags.
thank you

the altis E does have ABS too.. and dual airbags.. and climate control (single zone). my former boss got rid of his (at the time) 5-year old EK civic and got an altis G. apparently there is a widespread belief na mas mahal mag-maintain ng civic.

January 10th, 2006 01:02 PM #157PMS for Civic 2.0 AT / 10,000 kms (P5,000-7,000) Two years on March, not a single major part has been replaced, except battery. 8,000+ kms already. Fully Synth oil. Casa maintained, acquired brand new * Honda Kalookan. Inclusive of rustproofing.
PMS for Altis 1.6 AT / 5,000 kms (P2500-P3500). Three years already with me, one year with the original owner, 12,000+ kms. already. not a single major part has been replaced except battery. Casa-maintained as well (P. Tamo). Acquired 2nd hand. Excluding rustproofing.

The Nissan and Altis should, given the same testing conditions get exactly the same times. Both are rated at 126 hp in the US, despite being rated at 145 (Corolla) and 130 (Sentra) here... and guess what? There's very little difference between them in C!'s testing... meaning they're still both 126 hp, no matter what the manufacturers claim... and that means the Mitsubishi is likely around 120hp... the CVT should be almost as efficient as a manual.Last edited by niky; January 10th, 2006 at 01:46 PM.

dragon21,
it looks like their cost of ownership is also about the same .
as a group (toyota vs honda) how about their aftersales service people, which do you consider better trained and more considerate of the customers/car owners. i know honda has 2 major dealers, ayala and yuchengco. for toyota, maybe the metrobank owned casas like in sanfernando, are better.
maybe in your experience as owner of both brands, which casa of theirs' has been the best in terms of quality service and just simply being helpful especially when/if you encounter problems.
my point in asking information is; as any car owner whould want it.
we want a new car that will run good/great for a milllion kilometers without major breakdowns. and in case there was a part malfunction, sana the manufacturer will act correctly and bring the car back in tip-top shape or replace it without hassles (true customer service). we have no issues about the requirements for the maintenance of the car, but it will be nice if we get the one that is easier/lower costs to maintain vs the others.
hehhe, pinahaba ko lang. alam ko ito ang intent ng poll na ito.
thanks
