    Jazz has a capacity of 42 l. So that's roughly 26-27 kms/l

Re: Petron Tests. Speed was actually maintained at range 40-60 kph. It has been vanguarded by 2 CRVs and two police officers to clear the traffic, ensuring that it avoids jam, while all vehicles are equipped with a two-way radio. The jazz almost never had to stop and so acceleration from 0-40 is almost non-existent, except when they had to rest. Air-con was on, though at minimum, spare tire was loaded, all stock, Jazz, straight from the Casa, without any additive.

The car is really efficient, but can this efficiency be applicable in real world? Hardly. Unless you have your own police escort too...

For the Lynx RS, yes a 6th gear would help a lot. Many of us actually still try to upshift from fifth gear sometimes, even months after getting acclimatized to the car. I have a 626, and it gets the same mileage on the highway because 5th is longer. It hits 200 km/h in 5th around 5200rpm, while the RS hits 200 km/h over 6000rpm. But the 626 gets much worse mileage in traffic.

Pocholo's 1114 km run comes out to 26.5 km/l from a 42 liter tank. Having done a Honda Eco-run, (we got 23+ from medium traffic and speeds up to 70 km/h) I can safely say it's possible for many drivers to do, but it'll be very slow. The 26 km/l done by the Toyota Corolla is a little more difficult to achieve, but anything's possible with a light foot and good momentum. In the CanadianDriver eco-challenge, they got 18 km/l from a 1.8 MT Corolla (mixed highway driving), so 20+km/l from a 1.6 isn't that farfetched.

In the same run, a 1.7 MT Civic got 20.4 km/l... over 1000 km on 50 liters of gas.

EDIT: I'm actually disappointed with Pocholo's run... if he had escorts, he should've been able to make 30 km/l easily. One lady on our run did 29+... IN TRAFFIC.

But it's still all dependent on the driver and conditions. Some of us are just heavy footed.

he he he. there were several instances when Pocholo, perhaps out of boredom, exceeded the designed 60 kph, he even went to 90 kph. That exercise almost bored him to death because it was a long very leisurely 3-day trip. the weak torque of the jazz perhaps "disappointed" many, because he had to press more and consume more gas in the process. Although he saved a lot because of the downhill stretch from the northern provinces to central luzon.

I'm pretty sure that he would have gotten 30+ if he used the 1.5 w/c has better power to weight ratio.

that's funny.. i thought best practice was to descend hills in gear so that engine braking would work and the fuel injectors would shut off..

All this is implying how far the consumption of Vios and City/Jazz are compared to their Altis/Civic brethren. A friend of mine can do 17 km/li in his 1.3 Vios in normal driving, while my cousin in an Altis 1.6E automatic averages only 8. For sure they have different styles, but what is the best consumption of the Altis 1.6 A/T anyway?

2ZZ-FE ata yung 1.6 engine ng Altis, then yung sa Celica 1ZZ-GE. Same engine din ito sa Martix, Corolla XRS at Lotus Elise.
