On Aug 1, 2005, my agent from Toyota Manila Bay told me that there will be a price increase of 35T for the Fortuner, n 20T for the Innova... ,,, No price protection. so hindi na Toyota fortune-r its un fortunat-e na. BTW ordered 2.7 dark grey....

This is quite consistent with what I heard from another dealer (Toyota Makati, Inc.). They said that by August prices will by 3%. I wonder what is the economic basis for this increase, aside from profit? Cost of Raw materials increased? Further Taxation from the gov't?

hmmmm, well like it or not the e-vat will be implemented. the only provision that will be declared unconstitutional will be the standby power granted to her shortness, este highness, gloria.

when this is implemented, get ready for a 6% increase and not just 3%. most likely, toyota will do the increase in stages with only 3% being announced now and a further 3% to be imposed later

there is a discussion already on how the 6% was derived

the 3% will be the unrecoverable add-on that is passed on to the dealers by the manufacturers

as for the other 3%, i assume that the dealers are swallowing this right now but this may not last long. or baka nakonsensiya na ang dealers sa kinita nila sa IHF and IHI that is why they can afford to absorb the 3% for now.

The increase is true, I heard it from a "previous" agent. I don't know kung panakot nila or what - "Sir mag down na kayo agad at it reserve na natin kase by August may price increase na" this was way back in June. 6% is quite hefty if you ask me and if you're a panic buyer I think you might be tempted. But then again, if you're set for this car(and its really nice!) you'll really be tempted to sign that cheque

I guess so, been thinking long and hard on how I'll be able to afford such a vehicle... God really works in mysterious ways. I'll certainly post photos of the vehicle when the vehicle arrives.

btw, heard rumours that the fortuner has become one of the favorites of carnappers... in fact, a few weeks ago a unit was forcibly taken at the vicinity of Scout area in QC.

Ngiih... Ang bilis naman... The vehicle has just been launched, and already it's being carnapped. There's no possible way that the carnappers can sell the vehicle as chop-chop, 'coz most owners will prefer to get parts from the dealer, so as to maintain their 3 year warranties. Also, with few units still on the road, pansinin masyado ang Fortuner. And, carnappers wouldn't want to attract that much attention.

Is that carnap story confirmed?
