Have you guys noticed that you can actually manage your consumption with the help of the Driver Information Display?

Just cycle through the display until you get to the Average Km/Li (has AVG km/l on display). One more push of the function button and you'll see the actual km/li (plain km/l on display).

The actual km/li changes figures in relation to whether your accelerating or cruising. If you accelerate at any speed the actual km/li will tend to go down, but when you reach a good coasting speed and remove your foot off the pedal, the actual km/li can go to a max of 99.9 km/li. By checking your driving habits against the reading on the actual km/li, you'll tend to become mindful of any gas-guzzling driving habits. You will, in effect, increase your average km/li and improve your consumption.

    Try it...

MID will always keep in you in mind to check your driving & idling habits. too much and the km/l goes down. that's the MID function I'm always constantly using.

Tama ka d'yan! No amount of consumption management can make up for the cost involved in a major vehicular accident...

People, here are pics of some accessories that I had installed at my dealership, just today...

    1. OEM Muffler Cutter. See the Toyota emblem?
    2. OEM Side Visors. Good for the monsoon season.

    My fuel consumption for the D4D came out 399 km / 59.51 liters = 6.7 kms/liter. Not bad considering my brother's 2.0 RAV4 4x4 gets 6.3 kms/liter, both city driving.

Vicoyski, nagpalagay ka ba rin ng back-up sensor sa Toyota Ortigas?

    Fortuner V6/4000cc daw!!

Check it HERE if you can decipher Thai

Has side stickers on body and riding on Hilux wheels on. Presumambly gas since the hood scoop for the diesel is missing.

Another one. Looks like the 2.7 gas that we have here

Nagpa-order pa lang ako sensor. I plan to have it installed during my 1K check-up.

The parts supervisor raised some issues on the installation of back-up sensors. Apparently, they'll have to kill the back-up beeping that comes standard in the RP variants. The standard beeping sound tends to drown-out the beeping sound from the back-up sensors daw.

How does the sensor work in your unit? Does it beep along with the back-up beep or did OTIS kill the back-up beeping sound?

That V6/4L unit looks kinda bare... Looks like there's no spoiler and roofrails?

I wonder where they're shipping this unit? From the pic, you can tell that it's a left hand drive. So, it's obviously not a Thai variant...

Hmmm... In that case, I'll have to see if the back-up sensor unit they'll install has a distinguishable sound from the reverse warning beeps.

By the way, here some other accessories I got for my unit...

    3. Rubber Floormats. Great for those muddy and wet shoes this monsoon season.
    4. OEM Cargo Mat. In case I've got to stash wet and grimey stuff at the back.

Compared to the Thai 4x4 version, the Philippines 4x4 version does not have the word "intercooler" spelled out on the front grill.

It's a good thing, too! IMO, that "INTERCOOLER" emblem looks absolutely hideous up-close. One of the "O's" is mis-shapen. You'd think that it says "INTERCGOLER".

the dashboard is the same for the hilux and fortuner except for the center console and the passenger side airbags.

    Tight fit in our garage...

TVSS key... It's surprisingly very light. It's so light, that I tend to fumble with it and drop it a lot.

Also attached is a pic of my son giving our new unit a spin... It was fun seeing how he naturally took to holding on to the steering wheel.
Congrats on your new ride Vicoyski! At last you got your unit..hehe.

I got my carpet matting and cargo mat from the dealership (Toyota Shaw-Ortigas). I got the rubber floor mats through a friend who got it from Bionic Auto Seat Covers.

    Vicoyski,

    Congrats on your new ride

How is the sound of the engine and vibration of the D4d? Tumawag kasi sa kin yun dealer and told me marerelease daw next month kung diesel daw kukunin ko.

I previously own a gen2.5 pajero kasi and am bothered by the vibration and sound of engine during traffic.

And how is the acceleration? speed? I read your skyway incident kasi. do you think it can go faster than 140kph?

    Comments please...

By the way pag D4d what is your PMS??? every 10k?or every 5k?
