Since the engines of these 2 vehicle variants are identical, we're actually extrapolating the problem to the Fortuner. I've been using mine (2.5G) since September and i never had this problem. It could be a batch problem in fuel system/pump, injectors, fuel quality, amongst other things, that have been already discussed in countless posts.

Having a diesel engine requires more technical and hands-on involvement on the part of the owner. The VVTi is practically trouble-free, proven in the Altis and RAV4 platform. You'll have peace of mind. The D4D is still experiencing "growing pains". With all the recent experiences on the D4D, you have to take the risk. Risk vs peace of mind. Weigh your preferences very well. I never had second thoughts on getting the D4D variant. The choice is yours...

Thanks for the info. My previous rides were diesel powered (mazda B2200, Revo & Pajero 2nd Gen) but I did not have any of the above mentioned problems. Anyway, as soon as my unit arrives, I ask the warranty officer about it, its possible causes and most esp. what is the TOYOTA as a manufacturer & as a dealer are doing to correct this problem.
    Thanks for the Info folks.

It's actually the other way around... Based on the owner list, as well as the delivery count from the dealers, mas marami kumuha ng 3.0V. The import ratio kasi is in favor of the 3.0V.

    On a lighter note...

Just had my scratched-up bumper painted at the dealer.

I also asked to have the back-up sensors painted, after seeing the body color back-up sensors of a Previa.

PAre did you have to pay for the paintjob? or is it part of the warranty? and ifyou had to pay for it how much did it cost?

It's not covered by the warranty, 'coz it's not a factory defect. The paint scratch was because a wall backed into my unit...

The dealership repainted the whole bumper panel to make sure that the shade was even. It cost me P4.5T for the whole panel.

We should start a thread on Fortuner Accessories and what we can do with it!
    we should!

like for instance Whats a good brand for something as simple as a floor guard in the back of the fortuner?
OR what other colors would look good on the fortuner and such

KCboy, I doubt if they will tell you that. It can cause a stir doon sa mga kawawang matagal nang nakapila sa Fortuner. It will only show more evidences doon sa reported racket of Toyota on the Fortuner posted by El Chicane last Nov 10 sa "Let's boycott the Fortuner" thread. Yeah, some Fortuner owners might have acquired it the "fair" way but mostly have bitten to Toyota's racket-bait. Dapat yata makisuyo sila kay Mon Tulfo para madeliver agad ang unit nila...he..he..he. Mga nakapila sa Fortuner, sumbong nyo kay Mr.Tulfo

Alam mo, seeing how consistent you are with the nature of your posts on the Fortuner and its owners (kahit pabiro), I won't be surprised if you get flamed here, one of these days...

I just hope apexi_66 is referring to the dealers, and not the owners....told 'ya, this is a 'touchy' issue...
