Having a diesel engine requires more technical and hands-on involvement on the part of the owner. The VVTi is practically trouble-free, proven in the Altis and RAV4 platform. You'll have peace of mind. The D4D is still experiencing "growing pains". With all the recent experiences on the D4D, you have to take the risk. Risk vs peace of mind. Weigh your preferences very well. I never had second thoughts on getting the D4D variant. The choice is yours...
