the recommended mileage to change the belt is in the manual, po.
but if you see cracks on the belt, change it at once, regardless of mileage. it may snap at any time.

    yes meron.

    9 - 10 - 40- 97

    9 = 2009 year
10 = tenth week of the year 2009
4 = fourth day of the week
97 = the position in the production mold

For the most part, yan lang naman talaga kakailanganin mo.

Unless you do DIY maintenance on your ride.

emergency kit...? the one the car came with from the casa?
in all our cars, i immediately augmented this kit with:
a pair of flat blade and phillips head screwdrivers; the supplied double-duty 'driver they gave "wasn't so nice to use".
a box- or open-wrench "of the right size", for removing the rear light assembly, to make it easier to do.

in fairness, you can make do with what came with the car, but i wanted to do them easier and faster, hence the upgrade.

but we do have a more extensive set of tools in the home garage. one or two complete sets of wrenches... rachet... various pliers... higaan... two alligators... vice... electric drill...

Modern cars don't break down as often as the cars I grew up with.... no carburetors to tweak, no distributor cap to adjust, and you don't have to clean out the spark plugs every week. You just make sure your vehicle is maintained properly, it has enough of all the engine/powertrain fluids, good battery, properly-inflated tires and you're pretty much good to go.

Like Dr. D, I also have a lot of tools at home that I use for different things but they stay in my shop, unless I plan to do field work, then I bring what I need with me.

The only thing I have beyond the OEM tools are a set of battery jumper cables. My vehicle being an A/T, there's no way to start the vehicle without power so when the time comes the battery dies out while I'm a long way from home, I can flag a taxi, connect the jumper to start my vehicle, and hand him a P50 (or P100 if I'm feeling generous) for his trouble.

Worse comes to worst, I can avail of the free towing from Petron (Privilege Card) or from my insurance.

Oh yes, I also have a 1st Aid kit in the glove box for a different type of emergency.
