So I'm running 30,000++ kms now, and if the fuel filter is still "clean", then Toyota casa won't change it. Tama ba ito?

Sabi naman sa Isuzu, the diesel experts, Isuzu vehicles need to change fuel filters every 10,000 kms.

So bakit sa Toyota ganun ang PMS on fuel filter? Maganda ba talaga quality ng fuel filter nila?
it's not really the quality of the filter, as it is the quality of the fuel.
i'm at over 110k km now. i haven't changed my fuel filter since i got mad at it and replaced it, lock, stock and barrel, 10 or 20K km ago. i'm still waiting for the warning light to warn. my previous (non-toyota) diesel, warned me about it, by dying. i was doing 39K km, and i forgot to replace it at 30K km, as per owner's manual. perhaps today's fuel is much cleaner than 15 years ago...
but i confess, i haven't perused the owner's manual for the answer on when to replace my filter.
    i'm not a good example.

IIRC, every 40k kms ang palit ng fuel filter for diesel units as per owner's manual. But I change my fuel filter every 5k kms, sabay sa change oil. I use Petron's Diesel Max, filing up on the same gas station. I noticed medyo brownish na yun filter element at 5k kms, so I had the adopted the habit of changing the filter earlier.

    HTH.

The brownish hue might just be discoloration from being soaked in Diesel all its life. It is after all, a porous material. Inspection and assessment every other oil change is probably more than enough of a preventive maintenance and just replace them as recommended by the manual or only when it's actually necessary.

You are wasting a still-good fuel filter changing it every 5000KM unless purely sa softdrinks litro ka lang sa kanto nagpapakarga

So I'm running 30,000++ kms now, and if the fuel filter is still "clean", by say, 35,000 kms., then Toyota casa won't change it.

yung 5k km interval sa fuel filter replacement is simply a waste of energy and money

Checked the owners manual again, but really can't find the recommended interval for fuel filter change.

FWIW, called up another toyota casa and they said that for innova diesel, recommended fuel filter change is every 40,000 kms or when fuel filter warning light comes up, whichever comes first.

I guess iba-iba nga. Like sa Isuzu every 10k. Sa mitsu, every 20k. Sa toyota naman, looks like every 40k is the reco. But yes, these are just guidelines, not written in stone. Nakakalito lang minsan dahil iba-iba sial. And like for the case of toyota, wala talaga ako makita sa owners manual, very strange.

Wow, you're running 90,000++ kms already and you have not changed your fuel filter? Where do you gas up? Very clean diesel.

Never heard any cass recomment fuel filter change at 5,000 kms. 10,000 marami. 40,000, toyota pa lang. There really must be something good about their filters for them to be confident it can last up to 40,000 kms. on our kind of diesel in the Phils. Oh well, lets see how long my fuel filter can still last, eh casa na mismo nagsabi pwede pa. Kaya nga tayo nag-pa-pa-PMS sa kanila kasi they're supposed to be the experts at preventing engine malfunctions.

I have an innova diesel. Sa d4d filter kasi yung filter acts like a sponge dadaan sa maraming filter yung diesel. while sa iba like mitsu and nissan parang tina trap lang yung impurities ng diesel. I change fuel filter on my d4d every 20k vic lang gamit ko.

Let me just add that the Innova Diesel will also trigger the fuel system warning light long before filter clogging can affect engine performance. This is sort of a fail-safe device to remind those who neglect to replace the fuel filter within the prescribed duration.

    a little help, po?
Did you went through with this experiment?

1 at a time lang.

    Salamat sir.

    inspect very well the housing.
look for loose connection or poor contact (can generate excessive heat).
look for loose mounts. vibrations can pundir bulbs faster.

Ganyan din Innova ko. After 3 years and 8 months napundi left brakelight. Then pinalitan ko ng bulb na tig 60 pesos then after 1 month pundi ulit.

helo po sa lahat. newbie question from a newbie innova owner. :-) . I am using Shell V Power Nitro Diesel for our new Innova E A/T. Pwede rn po ba yung Fuel Save Diesel ang gamitin ko kasi Power Nitro Diesel is more expensive. Thanks for the answers.
