What model are you looking for? I saw a 1.6G a/t in the Pampanga showroom the other week.

We're putting down a order for a 1.6E 6-speed and the problem i have is the availability of the color i want (black). Looks like there's a shortage on stocks a since the dealers are scrimping on discounts; 10K is their standard now versus the usual 30K to 50K we could get before.

1.6G A/T in silver, medium silver, or beige is what we need.

Cubao told me they have black.

They are saying by March, CBU unit supplies will normalize.

Hehe. As for us, its the other way around. They have stock of the E in white and beige while the black we want will hopefully be available this March as well.

Sa ibang Toyota dealers, no discounts at all for the Altis. I might as well wait for March/April if i need an Altis, 1 month na lang, sayang 30K-50K discount.

Madami din nakapila at naghihintay. Siguro Sept or year end bago bumalik yung ganoong kalaki na discount.

We were able to get a slightly better discount then the 10K after some negotiation since my wife is connected to the Metrobank group which owns the dealer were getting the car from (additional corporate discount). Nothing great since we're used to getting a 40-50K discount before but since we've budgeted on the purchase already then that's fine.

The new Civic is out and the price is quite... pricey so its seems to be the Corolla will be more against the Hyundai Elantra.

Freebies included: 3M tint, alarm, back-up sensor, additional rustproofing, matting, seat cover, car cover, visor (although i'm trying to change this w/ something else since i don't like window visors) and umbrella. I was trying for just 3M tint and fog lamps since that's all that matters to me really but no avail so far.

Anyone can comment on how the 1ZR engine is against the previous 3ZZ?

Lots of freebies for a car not in stock yet. :D You are really lucky

Which dealer? Cubao, Abad Santos, Manila Bay, Dasmarinas?

Manila Bay and Cubao quoted the same freebies to us. I'm actually surprised they offered 3M tint since before, we used to pay additional for that if we opted for it (but back then, the discounts were heftier). Heck, if only they could raise the cash discount by another 5-10K, i'd do away with most of these (kahit 3M tint lang) since i usually do my car accessories or whatever kaartehan upgrades on my own at my suking tindahans.

It's needed. That's part of the preventive maintenance to your car to ensure the brakes perform at it's best. I don't go the CASA for servicing anymore but i still clean my brakes every 10,000kms with 3M brake cleaner.

If you're sporting 4 disc brakes, it's not required since the brake dusts are easily expelled. But if you have drum brakes, better to have it cleaned because the brake dust accumulates inside the drum. If not cleaned regularly, you'll have less braking power in the rear.

Hi guys, quick question, for those of you who replaced your tires already (especially those with 205/55R16 wheels, V variant owners), what make and model did you replace the stock Dunlop SP Sport 01's with?

Looking to replace mine, as one developed a bump due to vulcanizing, while the other developed a tear. Both at the sidewalls.

I've recently replaced my front tires from Dunlop SP Sport 01s to LM703s, and I'm not entirely happy with my decision. One of them developed a bump, less than a week after being installed. I'll be having that replaced under warranty, but I don't think I want my rear tires to be LM703's as well, which is why I'm looking at other possible alternatives.

Around 30,000 KM. I'm at 45,000 KM now, the car's 2.5 years old.

the stock bridgestone turanzas on my 1.6G are holding up quite well. my altis just reached 50,000kms today. I have had several gut wrenching pothole encounters the past 2 years. I rotated the tires every 10k kms including the spare. I think it can go for 30k kms more before I buy a new set.

question lang, does anyone know which brand/model of tires is the quietest? thanks.

The Turanzas are rather expensive. I just called DKC, and for a 205/55R16 piece, it's at 6k.

The Yokohama dBs are quiet, but they're apparently appalling at the limits of grip. I guess for city driving, that won't matter.
Why not try the Yokohama C.Drive? A bit pricy though, I'm assuming somewhere around 6k a piece, since the A.Drives are at 4.9k.

Have them check it again. I don't think they will charge you for it as it seems to be a back job.
