Hello,
Does anyone have information on when the following changed happened to the locally released Foresters?
1. When did the signal lights move from the body to the side mirrors?
2. When did the moon/sunroof vanish in the base model?
3. When did the muffler become single from the previous 2 (in the base model)?
Thanks!
No answer to answer question #1 but see below for #2 and #3.
The current Forester platform (SJ) was released around 2014 but went thru some minor modifications in late 2016. The sunroof and 18" rims were only offered on the 2.0i-P Premium and XT models. The dual muffler exhaust is only available on the XT model. The 2.0i-L base model came with 17" rims and fabric seats but uses the same engine as the 2.0i-P Premium model. Only the XT model has the 2.0L turbo engine.
May nabasa ako sa mazda thread na yun cx7 nagkakaroon ng melted tail lights.
May nakita kasi ako na 2011 Forester na may parang crack yun loob na red ng rear brake light nya pero buo naman yun cover so parang sa loob yun crack. Case of brittle plastics over time lang ba yun or natunaw dahil hindi LED yun bulb? Or nabasag yun loob dahil sa malakas na pagsara ng rear door hehe.
Yes, sir; not affected by the recall
But to me, it's a potential chink in the armor:
As I understand it, the flip side is that there's no certain "inspection certificate" requirement for exported units. If the "scandal" is true, then...The inspection certificate is a requirement for cars sold locally![]()
Does anyone know where to get touchup paint pens for Subaru? Aside from Olx... Do they sell those in say, Subaru BGC?
Feel good news for subaru owners.

What coolant do you guys use for your Forester? Can I just pick one off the shelf or do I have to get it specifically from the casa?
Subaru, like many, uses aluminum engines & radiators ...use OAT type coolant w/ phosphate.
A Subaru bulletin says:
"Be certain not to substitute the long-life OAT (Organic Acid Technology) type. Use only a PHOSPHATE (non-amine) formula. NO SILICATES. Read the label carefully to be sure."
OAT ingredients include sebacate (Toyota & Honda), 2-ethylhexanoic acid (2-EHA) and other organic acids, but no silicates, some w/o phosphate. Toyota's pink extended-life coolant, has a dose of phosphate to its extended-life OAT-based antifreeze.
Organic inhibitors do not deplete as quickly as the inorganic inhibitors used in conventional coolants.
OAT is recommended in engines with ALUMINUM components (heads or radiators). NO BORATES as they can be bad for them.
OAT coolants also have extended lives, up to 150,000 mi.

Thanks!
It’s at the “Low” level already so I’m thinking of an upcoming trip to Tagaytay.
Hopefully I can find OAT w/ phosphate, otherwise, maybe a little Wilkins just to get it above the “Low” level.
Would that work?
