    OFWs are tested

dunno about those locally stranded individuals (LSI) and those balik-probinsiya

ang mahirap the virus can escape swab tests

and people need to wait for days for PCR results

so between the day they got swabbed and the day they got a negative result, how can they be sure di sila nahawa during that time

meron sila dalang papel showing negative result pero meron pala virus

kaya pag dating sa probinsya kailangan i-quarantine muna

    ---

even countries that were able to get their local transmission under control, problema nila imported cases

same thing sa mga probinsya natin

kahit isla pa yan... they may have zero local cases

pero if they let people in and they don't quarantine those people muna pwede ma-introduce ung virus sa local population

    eto ha... New Zealand

they got cases down to zero

this is a June 8 article

New Zealand lifts all Covid restrictions, declaring the nation virus-free - BBC News
New Zealand has lifted almost all of its coronavirus restrictions after reporting no active cases in the country.

At midnight local time (12:00 GMT), all of New Zealand moved to level one, the lowest of a four-tier alert system.

Under new rules, social distancing is not required and there are no limits on public gatherings, but borders remain closed to foreigners.

New Zealand has reported no new Covid-19 cases for more than two weeks.

    today:

Coronavirus: Ministry of Health report four new Covid-19 cases in New Zealand | Stuff.co.nz
There are four new cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand.

The Ministry of Health provided their daily coronavirus update via media release on Sunday, and with it, the news that the country has now gone nine successive days in recording new cases.

New Zealand's total number of active cases has now risen to 20, with the total number now sitting at 1176, with the latest four cases all relating to people who had returned from overseas and who are now in managed isolation.
you can get local cases down to zero but there will be imports

unless you shut your borders completely

If a vaccine is available by that time and they have to manufacture or mass produce it so hopefully 1st quarter 2021 we can be vaccinated.

    before covid,
vaccine design and manufacture used to take several years.

now, they are advertising ("attracting investors", is more like it, if i am asked) vaccine availability less than a year after the virus' discovery...

i am not saying it is impossible.
but the speed by which they are supposedly coming out with it... unbelieveable.

some vaccine candidates are going into phase 3 clinical trial na

if all goes well baka may ma-approve in Q4

pero manufacturing hundreds of millions / billions of units will take time

I am not optimistic on the availability of vaccines within the year.

Probably late 2021 pa for the Philippines. Syempre unahin ng mga vaccine developers country nila. I hope hindi maging highest bidder ang pag procure ng vaccines para hindi kawawa ang mga poor countries.
