Doesn't mean that you post the official numbers, you believe them hook line and sinker. It's just a talking point, an anchor to start discussion from. Everybody appreciates links and worldometer has been linked up and referenced not only here in tsikot, but in most every other forum or venue -- simply because all the official numbers are there in one convenient site. Besides they are the "official" numbers, and whether we believe it or not, it's what we have to live with for the moment. Any other number would be called out for bias or prejudice for or against the country it refers to.

Having said that, remember a lot of "us" also doubt the Philippine government numbers even up to now, and yet we still have to quote them just because that's the official number.

first you gotta believe that our gov't is undertesting which i do

GROSSLY UNDERTESTING

so the official number of cases is way too low

many infected people aren't detected -- asymptomatics and people with mild symptoms

but the number of coronavirus deaths are more accurate (relatively) compared to number of cases

coz when someone who is positive dies in the hospital sigurado mabibilang siya (pero syempre alam natin meron mga namamatay sa coronavirus symptoms na hindi tested)

that gray line is extrapolated from number of deaths using Imperial's 0.9% fatality rate

so according to that, PH had 30,000 cases as of March 12

China's numbers are screwed much like ours. I think "everybody" that posts or read this thread will agree on that.

What is the real number? Now that's up to the real experts. Some here probably really have a good idea.

The worldmeter numbers I see as just somehow a benchmark for how "other" countries are faring. Those "other" countries meaning not China nor the PI.

Agree on this one.

Purely speculative naman kung ano reaction but assuming na they hide infections and still proceeded with the games, now that would be clearly a malevolent act or omission on their part and would surely have international protest.

If the Philippines have athletes that were exposed to the risks without their knowledge, I'd surely call for our government to ask Japan to answer for damages (if any), public international apology and possible censorship from the games for one time at least.
