The arrival of the next batch of COVID-19 vaccines from Chinese manufacturer Sinovac will face a 2-week delay

Meanwhile, the 1 million doses of AstraZeneca's vaccine donated to the country by the Japanese government are expected to arrive by Thursday.

The Philippines also expects to receive over 3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson (J&J), which was donated by the United States through the COVAX Facility.

As well, the government expects to receive 170,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine, 250,000 doses of Moderna's vaccine and 1.17 million doses of AstraZeneca's vaccine ordered by the private sector by the first half of this month.

MANILA, Philippines — An official of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday cautioned the Department of Health (DOH) in its COVID-19 messaging, warning of implications in classifying the Philippines as “low risk” for COVID-19.

“Classifying any country as low risk has implications. We are in a pandemic, the virus is everywhere… Are we at low risk of future COVID cases? No, we are not at low risk of future cases. This is a pandemic, we are dealing with a very delicate situation,” WHO representative to the Philippine Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe said in an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel.

There's rumor (most probably true) that some doses of AZ got disposed of kasi expired na. July expiry kasi. It seems hindi gumana estimate ng LGU na magagamit lahat before expiration at may darating nang 2nd dose.

Pero in the first place dapat hindi na siguro tinanggap nung May kung July ang expiry kasi nga medyo madami natatakot sa vaccine lalo na sa AZ because of the blood clotting and other issues from other countries. Sayang yun at may chance pa tuloy naadelay 2nd dose. Tagal naman kasi pagitan, 2 months for AZ.

Sayang taxpayers money. Tsk
