9 South Koreans test positive for coronavirus after returning from Israel | The Times of Israel

The statement from the ministry came shortly after a BBC reporter in Seoul said seven South Koreans from a tour group to Israel of 77 organized by the Catholic Church tested positive for the virus upon their return home.

It was not clear whether they were carrying the virus when they arrived in Israel. Symptoms of the virus can take up to two weeks, and possibly longer, to present. South Korea has reported over 400 cases of the virus to date.

Known as Patient No. 31, the church member tested positive for the virus on Feb 18, after which infection figures in Daegu skyrocketed and the authorities started labelling her as a "super spreader".

Angry netizens, however, are calling her "crazy ajumma" (auntie in Korean) for the way she refused twice to test for the coronavirus despite developing symptoms such as a sore throat and fever, then attending church twice despite her condition worsening, and how she roamed freely even though she was warded for 10 days in a hospital after a car accident.

The woman also left the hospital to have lunch with friends at a buffet restaurant and spent time at a jimjilbang (Korea spa with large resting areas) in the neighbouring city of Cheongdo, where infections linked to a hospital are multiplying.

She even argued with a health official for an hour before finally agreeing to take the coronavirus test, according to local reports.

If SK really let their COVID positive citizens roam freely, then we cannot compare the infection figure of SK with China. Sa China kulong agad sa bahay mga suspected infected persons, even locked down whole provinces and cities.

all along they've been using China's official numbers to calculate R0 of covid-19

but if China's official numbers are under-reported, mali din ung R0 number ng scientists

gets ko China... they really care about image so they under-report the numbers to make the epidemic look less bad

inisip ko di gagawin ng Korea yan... they'd be more transparent than China

so if scientists / epidemiologists use Korea's numbers, they'd arrive at a more accurate R0

It will be disastrous for the PH to impose a travel ban on SKoreans considering they are the largest group of tourist arrivals.

An additional 1,000 tourists from South Korea currently traveling in Israel have been instructed to avoid public places, and instead remain in isolation in their hotels.

Can't say exactly... Depending on the healthcare system I guess. Singapore has 85 infections but no deaths.

21 deaths pa lang outside of China, ULS. Half the number came from SKorea and Iran. 1,889 cases outside of China including SS Petri Dish.
