Coronavirus: Four new UK cases among ship evacuees - BBC News

Four cruise ship passengers flown to Britain on Saturday have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in the UK to 13.

They were among 30 repatriated Britons and two Irish citizens beginning a 14-day quarantine at Arrowe Park Hospital in Wirral.

The four UK nationals caught the virus on the Diamond Princess liner in Japan, England's chief medical officer said.

Italy plus 58 to 215 cases. Additional death to 4 total.

What's worrying is Afghanistan has been added to the list with one confirmed case.

At least local hindi pa ganun ka-problematic ano.

Sana talaga yung travel ban sa areas na affected mag-work. On knenhand sayang tourism income. Kaso without the ability to check if someone is infected or not since may 2 weeks incubation period eh very problematic talaga yan. Koreans pa naman number 1 tourists natin afaik.

I appreciate you posting these reports, I don't follow news in fb and don't have local TV channels and no AM radio, ikaw lang source ko. [emoji23]

Based on these reports mukhang mga mayayaman na bansa lang ang may counts at yung mga 3rd World like us eh mababa count. I have a feeling its because we don't track it as well as those 1st worlds. Malay natin mas kalat pa sa 3rd world yan and people are just mistaking it for common lagnat at ubo.

Harvard scientist predicts coronavirus will infect up to 7 percent of humanity

Harvard University epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch is predicting the coronavirus "will ultimately not be containable" and, within a year, will infect somewhere between 40 and 70 percent of humanity, The Atlantic reports. But don't be too alarmed. Many of those people, Lipsitch clarifies, won't have severe illnesses or even show symptoms at all, which is already the case for many people who have tested positive for the virus.

That's precisely why he doesn't think the virus can be stopped. Viruses like SARS, MERS, and the avian flu were eventually contained in part because they were more intense and had a higher fatality rate. In other words, if you were infected by the virus that caused SARS, chances were you weren't out and about. But because the current coronavirus, known as COVID-19, can be asymptomatic, or at least very mild, there's a better chance people will likely go about their day as normal. The down side, though, is that it becomes harder to trace and prevent. The Atlantic reports Lipsitch is definitely not alone in his prediction. There's an emerging consensus that the outbreak will eventually morph into a new seasonal disease, which, per The Atlantic, could one day turn "cold and flu season" into "cold and flu and COVID-19 season."
