But if you calculate using SKorea's current data... 5 deaths and 602 positive cases, you'll get 8 percent mortality rate. Which is at par with SARS.

Update: 17 infected Catholic SKoreans from a Holy land tour... Including their tour guide.

A total of 17 South Korean Catholics in North Gyeongsang Province and their tour guide in Seoul who had gone on a pilgrimage to Israel earlier this month were confirmed to have been infected with the virus, KCDC said.

Israeli and Palestinian authorities sought to allay fears of a potential local outbreak of the coronavirus after learning that South Korean pilgrims who had toured some of the holy land’s most popular sites were later found to be carrying the virus.

We should start thinking about banning flights from S. Korea. We would lose a lot of income. But, I think the end justifies the means.

For the meantime I would think that is alao the best thing to do. Precaution is paramount for this situation.

Coronavirus: Wuhan to quarantine all cured patients for 14 days after some test positive again | South China Morning Post

The new quarantine arrangements came after Chinese medical experts on the front line of the battle to contain the outbreak warned that recovered patients may still carry the virus and be contagious.

In the southwestern city of Chengdu, a patient initially discharged on February 10, after meeting the standard for having recovered, was readmitted to hospital nine days later when they tested positive again during a check-up.

In another case in Changde, a city in Hunan province in central China, a woman tested positive on February 9, five days after she was released from quarantine at a local hospital having tested negative in two previous laboratory tests.

Meanwhile, in the southern city of Guangzhou, the coronavirus was found in stool samples from a small number of discharged patients, South Metropolitan Daily reported on Saturday.

“It may be that there are still viruses or viral gene fragments in the discharged patients,” Cai Weiping, head of the infectious diseases department at Guangzhou No 8 Hospital, was quoted as saying. “It is not yet certain whether they are infectious. This is a new pathogen, and we don’t yet have a perfect process to understand it.”

Filipino in Singapore tests positive for coronavirus

The Philippine embassy in Singapore reported the case, according to DFA Undersecretary Brigido Dulay in a post on Twitter.

This is the first confirmed case of a Filipino getting COVID-19 in Singapore, he noted.

The patient "is now in isolation" at Singapore's National Center for Infectious Diseases, added Dulay.

    Di ma-contain ito

Consider how contagious this virus is, the incubation period, and how fast and easy people can fly around the world

Unlike viruses that kill quickly (like Ebola) this virus doesn't make you sick agad so you have 2 or more weeks to go anywhere and spread the virus

By the time symptoms manifest and you go to the hospital madami ka na nahawa

And those who got infected also have 2 or more weeks to go anywhere...

COVID-19: Third passenger from Japan cruise ship dies, says health ministry - CNA

In a statement, the ministry identified the victim as a Japanese man in his 80s who was also suffering from other ailments.

He was removed from the Diamond Princess and taken to a local hospital after testing positive for COVID-19, the statement said, without giving details on when he tested positive or where he was being treated.

The man's cause of death was given as pneumonia, the statement added.

We should seriously consider going outside the country especially during this early stage of the outbreak.

A week before Chinese new year (jan 25) many people left wuhan/hubei/china for vacation

    That was before lockdown

2 weeks or more ang incubation

The virus already travelled the world

Ngayon nagsilabasan ang simtomas ng mga nahawa sa labas ng China
