*iantec - sir, pano nila na diagnose yung evaporator niyo? kasi para makita nila yung mismong evaporator, baklas buong dashboard nyo and medyo matagal tagal na proseso yon... so malamang iniwan nyo at least one day yung truck sa casa?

    Summary of the aircon problem.

    -Religious with PMS
-Never cleaned the aircon since we got the truck Dec 09 (SA said they don't advice it yet since the mileage is relatively low)
    -Mileage 40k+
-Aircon has always worked and never failed until last Sunday

    Now down to the details:

-We left for Manila at around 2:30 PM (Aircon working very well)
-Around 6 PM when we reached SCTEX the ambient temp has dropped and the aircon's air flow started degrading little by little
-We stopped at around 730 to grab some snacks (stopped approx 45 min)
-Started the car again airflow was bit better, but the longer we used it the less air came out (air coming out of the vents are still very cold) until it is completely useless.
-You can definitely hear the blower working when you toggle thru different fan speeds
-A few drops of water was present beneath the glove box (I believe this is were the evaporator is situated)
-Stopped using the A/C til the next morning. Worked perfectly well until yesterday.
-Dropped by Nissan's service center to have them diagnose the problem, they said it is due to a dirty evaporator (they tested the evaporator and informed me it passed the leak test but they can't guarantee it will last for long).
-And they advised me to change the evaporator together with the expansion valve, dryer, refrigerant and condenser.
-I will drop by the dealership tomorrow morning to check the status of the evaporator
-I am planning to continue using the old evaporator until it breaks completely.

What are your thoughts? I am bit skeptical on this since the unit is fairly new and I would say the mileage is not that bad. I read through the previous posts in this thread regarding the leaks coming out after cleaning the A/C. All inputs will be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ian

Sir....Maybe blower be checked? May i ask if the blower has no significant change in its regular speed, even you regulate its different speed? since the you've mentioned sudden changed in airflow?

Also check the air filter...it might be the culprit....the air that circulated returning to your A/C might have difficulty to pass through your filter because of the dirt...and the fan or blower cannot emit air...because the dirt suppresses the air coming out from the filter...your Nav is relatively new...just my insight...

Si I have experienced that same problem before, expansion valve yung problem and sometimes naman daw, yung thermostat. Hindi na nag-automatic shut-off when you reach the desired temp. Pa-check mo na agad sir at sabay mo na palinis para isang gawaan lang. Mga P2K-4K expense niyan depende sa problem AFAIK.

di kaya nag a-ice yung evaporator? Ang cause ng ice is baradong evaporator fins or cabin filter. Dapat kasi ang air will pass through the fins para hindi mag form ng ice.

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks sa mga insight. I went there this morning, the SA showed me the evaporator (the maid rods are intact but the center fins are really corroded). He told me na it was really dirty and that leads to ice forming up when using the aircon for extended periods. They did a leak test and the evaporator is still good but he can't guarantee that it will last for long so he's saying I need to replace it together with the expansion valve since they are connected and if I only replace one part leak might occur because of the pressure.

I asked him kung pasok yun sa warranty, sabi niya hindi daw kasi hindi pa sira. He will try to submit a report to their plant and take pictures of the evaporator. I told him they can't blame me for that corrosion since I always bring the vehicle when it's time for its PMS. I am also sure I asked them multiple times when to clean the AC and they kept on insisting it's too early to do the cleaning.

So bottom line, I told him I am not willing to pay for the said parts so I asked him to write that technical report (no assurance if the plant will honor the warranty). I will continue using the old evaporator until they agree to replace the thing with a new one (under warranty).

    FYI:

The blower, carbon on the motor, compressor, refrigerant level and dryer are all ok. All I'll pay for is the cleaning and misc items (freon, cleaner and etc) used which amounts to 6k++.

I will update you on this, I will get the vehicle tomorrow afternoon.

    Thanks!

I left the truck for one day. Kalas buong dash
    *bado13
I was advised by the SA to use MAX AC setting so I guess that's the maximum temp setting. I normally use Fan Speed 1 or 2.
    *trackers888
    That's what the SA said
    *cydepx44
    The fuse is good
    *12vdc
I don't think meron, ang namention lang niya is dryer and filter integrated sa hood

    Thanks again.
