Barely a month old, my monty got hit by a rock. There's a small dent and chipped paint on the hood. It maybe be small but it's bothering me. Can you guys recommend where to get this fixed? Around Manila area lang hehe TIA!

Welcome po to Tsikot forums
Try to refer it to your casa sir since the unit is just a month old. If you decide to have partial or whole panel retouch (for the sake of color matching) they are still the primary choice for me.
Big Bert's at Ortigas is still the favorite for most tsikoteers. Excellent service
HTH.
Yes the final assembly is in Thailand but the engine assembly is in Japan. Some of the parts are made in nearby countries like Philippines but most are made in Japan. Maybe the harness is made by Yazaki EMI Philippines. As you can see our headlight and other lights are stanley brand which are also japan. Our tires are made in thailand but Bridgestone is still japanese company that invested in thailand due to high demand in that country and also to lower cost due to labor and shipping.
Its rather an upgrade from 4m41. I will trade my 4m41 with 4d56HP anyday. Then install a piggyback computer to edit my fuel and ignition mapping, free flowing filter, slap on a bigger air to air intercooler and bolt an alcohol injection kit. Would roughly hit atleast 215ps at the crank. Not to mention how much torque it would have at the same time cleaner emissions.
The main ace in a CRDi engine will always be the fuel delivery system and a high pressure variable geometry turbocharger (the secret behind BMW's Crdi, Audi's TDI and Hyundai's 3.0L V6 crdi). Even Kia was able to get almost 200hp from their new VGT boosted 2.2L R-Diesel with this path.
A quote from motorreport.com"
"IT’S GRUNTIER, is considerably more refined, uses less fuel, has a longer and larger cargo tub, and is more comfortable at the wheel than the outgoing 3.2 litre turbo-diesel ML Triton.
And don’t get all het up about the downsizing of the diesel up front – down from 3.2 litres to 2.5. The new 4D56 HP (for ‘high-power’) unit is a cracker. Sure, it’s smaller; but it’s a much smoother, quieter and lustier piece of work.
Its 131kW of power is class-leading; and the 400Nm (in manual versions) it produces at just 2000rpm, is only shaded by the Navara’s 403Nm. That’s a gain of 11 percent in power and 17 percent in torque outputs over the previous 4M41 3.2 litre diesel engine.
With changes to the combustion chambers and injectors, increased turbo pressure and a variable geometry turbo-charger, it is a lively unit. (The variable geometry turbo increases gas flow speed at lower engine revs by closing the variable nozzle vanes on the turbo wheel, opening them up at higher engine revs.)
It also delivers a nine percent improvement in fuel consumption over the 3.2 litre diesel in the ML Triton. The MN HP diesel, in manual guise, delivers combined fuel economy figures of 8.3 l/100km compared to the ML’s 9.1 l/100km for the manual."

That 9% savings in fuel via VGT is a welcome addition indeed. It is really a shame that MMPC has not been currently included to carry the VGT but then again this might upset the pricing as this is one of the Montero Sport's edge over the rivals.
But the competition is undeniably raising the bar with no less than the Koreans at the forefront. Mitsubishi should consider this by 2010.
Montero 4x2 Automatic umaatras kahit konting incline lang????
Guys with 4x2 Automatic. Does your montero 4x2 AT slide backwards on "D" when you stop on the slope and release the brakes? The slope is not really steep and there's no passengers but when I release the brake it slides backward just like its in Neutral even if its on "D". Is this a problem with the Automatic Transmission or is there something that needs to be adjusted at the casa?![]()
Happens to me sometimes but not that alarming...
*sir ice*man = welcome and congrats on your new ride sir!.
Sorry to hear about what happened sir, you can post this issue in our website. Please also include your name in our owner's list here and in our website.![]()

*xto = yup, why would they facelift something that is very high on demand? Also, how long was it before the current model came after the previous one (the square-ish design)?
possible. sa malaysia kasi top of the line model ng montero ay 2.5 lang.

Kahit na 200 HP pa yang 4D56, i will still prefer the 4m41. The montero is a heavy car remember. even heavier than the fortuner. so what you need is torque. not horsepower. and you get less of that on a smaller engine. Even if it has VGT.
i've test driven a 2.5 4x2 gls before, forgive me for saying guys, i dont mean to offend. but for me, from 1000 rpm until the turbo kicks in somewhere at 2000 rpm, it feels "anemic". I dont feel this on our 3.2 gls.
there is actually a 4m41 with VGT. pero malas tayo sa japan lang nilabas ng mitsu eh. :

sabi nga nila, "no replacement for displacement"
btw eto pala ung review ng motor report

Mga sir,
Tanong ko lang kung gaano katagal ang waiting time nyo sa Montero sport nyo? Bibili na sana dad ko kaso wala naman stock.
*sir memphis - Thanks for the suggestion! I'll probably go to Big Bert's this weekend.
*sir mic - I'll check out the website!
My apologies sir, but the 4D56HP generates 400 newton meters of torque * 2000rpm, thats 57nm more than my 4m41 and 20nm more than the Ranger's 3.0L Duratorq at the same rpm range. Just imagine the difference in pull. Pulling a 2105kg Montero SE with 400nm is a lot better than 4m41's 343nm both have a peak torque at 2000rpm =)
The saying "there is no replacement for displacement" is generally true especially decades ago when the big block V8s of AM muscle cars ruled the streets. But technology has gotten more advance these days that many manufacturers are able to design and come up with engines that extract more power and torque even even without the additional CCs. Think of Kia's R-Diesel that boasts 200hp and 400++ nm *2000rpm from a 2.2L engine
My father's 4x4 automatic Navara certainly pulls harder than stick driven 2009 Strada GLS Sport. Especially when you hit 2000 rpm. Suddenly my 4m41 feels anemic.
I actually bought my MS SE not because for its engine but for its stance, on road comfort and features. If I wanted a midsize SUV that pulls like a 4.6L Expedition V8 then the Everest 4x4 would be on top of my list which happens to be 200cc smaller than the MS SE.
I think one of our members here has a 4x4 Navara and an SE. Correct me if im wrong, but I believe he picked the smaller displacement Navara over other bigger engine pick ups in the market coz of its sheer pulling power and higher hp output.
In summary, when it comes to crdi engines especially when VGTs are in play, displacement isnt everything.
I agree dito. It isn't as exciting as I expected from a DiD which does kinda take away the fun in acceleration. It is anemic![]()
Since I tested both variants before the purchase I had to tell myself that this might just be the compromise against better fuel economy. My friend who has a 3.2 uses his Monty at certain intervals during the week since, according to him, can't be used as his daily drive because of its appetite.
I advised him to change his driving style hehe.
By the way, my brother got his Savanna White 2.5 gls last Dec. 3 after exactly one month from booking. He got bling-bling rimspics to follow.
The 2.5 navara has a stronger & more powerful enginecompared to 3.2 montero..
we tested both acceleration & top speed at SCTEX.. rolling start at 120 km/h & plus 4 cars ahead for the montero, the navara easily overtakes at 160 km/h.. Top speed of the montero 3.2 is 195 km/h & 220 km/h for the navara.. but dont worry guys the montero is faster compared to the 3.0 fortuner & everest, i can a test to that :2thumbsup:
Thanks sir JPG =) I knew you were gonna reply to that. hehehe
Anyhows, it would be unfair to race the Monty against the Navara since the former is roughly 300kg heavier an equivalent of 4-5 persons diff. I would say Navara 4x4 vs Strada GLS Sport is a better gauge (though we all know whats gonna happen)
Actually, my mates and I held a drag race in Clark months ago where we pitted a manual 6sp 4x2 Navara (143ps) against my automatic Strada 3.2L(160ps) in the strip stock to stock. Surprisingly, the lower powered navara had no prob out dragging my truck up to 120kph (I reckon he was faster by a good .4-.6 of a sec to 100kph, I was torque braking at 2k rpm during my launch to fully utilize my advantage torquewise but to no avail). I only caught up with him approaching 140kph but by then the quarter mile was over. We even changed rides to eliminate driver factor but the result was even worse for my truck. Grrrrr.....
I could just imagine if the Navarra was a 4x4 model. The last race for the trucks was 4x4 Navara 6sp vs Ranger 4x4 Manual. The Ranger was faster till around 150kph but the Navara, having 18 horses advantage caught up with the Ford. They crossed the line with the Ranger leading half a fender against the Navara. I assume the Nissan was slower since it lost tym changing more gears than the Ranger which happened to have less hp and torque compared to the Navara.
No doubt if the test was top speed the Nissan would definitely take the win.
Also, a seperate test was done in Mindanao ave, wherein a matic 4x4 navara won by a hair against a matic ranger stock to stock. Both are 09 models
