Thank you Benjie (MASPRO) for the nice 2DIN DVD/Stereo set-up on my Montero 4x2. Sarap manood and good thing the model you refer is superb (mababaw lang ako) JVC AVX816.

    Picture to come.
I'm still contemplating on this option as well. A few concerns though:

    1. Is it more complicated to set-up if I have a Multi-info display (SE variant)? and...
    2. Is there an after-market for the Multi-info display at least to buffer my cost? I've no use for it anyway if I decide to go 2-din.

    Thanks,

As for the rusting and all, its not a big deal, lubricate and have it checked constantly... its not a big deal, almost any car will have parts look like its rusting or whatever. People in the forum are just more maticulous and some are first time car owners hence more sensitive to things like that. As for the thud, i'm not so familiar, but i'm guessing it comes from the strong vibrations of the engine and most probably a weak engine support. But that's my theory so i'm not entirely sure.

As for the fun factor, i really couldn't compare cause i've never driven the 2.5L version. And fun is subjective to the driver... My unit is fun in a sense that i feel that i really turn heads wherever i go, but as for the driving aspect, my wife's rav4 is much more fun for me to drive because it feels faster, and i can weave through traffic with ease.

Again, think about this when it comes to lemons and defects... there are probably a few hundred members already in this thread... how many have actually complained about problems with their units, maybe a handful only? And in that handful, how many of them have the exact same problem, even fewer right? ANd there are thousands of units already on the road, i'm sure it really is by fluke when a person gets a unit with lots of problems. Another thing to consider, those members who complained about problems with there units, they were all fixed naman some way some how. So at least you know that if a problem does arise, it can be fixed.

When i meant firmer, i meant that since the car is bigger and heavier, it really feels more stable. As if it feels more sturdy, which is what you'd expect for a SUV. Whereas the crv feels lighter and when you're driving it fast, it will feel as if the whole car is somewhat unstable. That's what i felt when i test drove the crv that is. Plus i'm not one to destroy the reputation of the crv, but most people i know who own it complain that there's a lot of 'kalampags' after some time. My wife initially wanted the crv also, but after looking at it and test driving and comparing craftsmanship and etc.. we went with the rav4 instead. But that's another story.. let me know if you want to hear it, or in this case read it.. hehehehe

i agree with you that MS is more firmer and you sure with safety as I've been hit by Saulog bus last July and my daughter is sleeping on the back seat and she didnt feel anything. but the damaged is there and pain in the A** waiting for traffic enforcer in the area and reach home very late. .. same thing RAV4 is more better in manuevering as my wife use it in her everyday work.

Actually we are on our 5th week of waiting for either 4x2 or 4x4se variant for our preferred color, Savanna White or Gemstone Grey

Both colors have been elusive so last week we told our SA here in the Visayas to include Cool Silver in the hope that either colors on any variant will be available. I think it's because of the fact we will be paying in cash, they put us at the bottom of the list :fire:

All we have mostly here on display are Lorenz Blue and Garnet Green.

This is reasonable premis: cars with similar model are manufactured and assembled like a clone of each other. IT IS A MUST. Thus, a problem in one has a great probability that the same problem occurs to the rest. If you create the premise that cloning is not a MUST, then the factory has problem with sustainability of quality. Thus, possibility of deffect is greater.
    two cents worth..........
Fact is, cloning doesn't exist as there aren't two object perfectly the same. There always exist threshold of differences but not 100% similar. Major problems oblige manufacturers to recall units for replacements. I for one doesn't have problem with my monty honestly and I'm enjoying my ride!

That is true in a perfect world.. but is that really what happens? I do understand what you're saying, just like in the states, the latest issue with evos. There some kind of problem with their fuel pumps or something hence all the current evos are being recalled in the states, though its being recalled for safety measures, it doesn't mean that all of them have fuel pump issues, but its a possibility... Even in best circumstances, even how great machines are in CLONING in the assembly line, not all with be exactly the same, that is just reality!

Another example, Ching's SE had a problem with the drive shaft.. Calling all SEs, do you have a problem with your drive shafts? Under your definition, doesn't that mean all SEs have problems with their drive shafts? And for those SE owners who cannot detect, are their noises whenever you turn your wheel?

You want another example, my rear right shock was assessed by mitsu and had a factory defect so they claim. Do all 4x4 3.2L GLS have the same problem? Again, i ask all the owners of the same model MS as mine, do you hear a sound similar to metal hitting metal whenever you pass through a hump?

By the book and ideally, what you say is absolutely true, but realistically, that is not what we get.

As regarding to your first statement about the defects, try reading my statement again... did it really seem like i derived my opinion through facts? I made that statement as if thinking out loud, and handful or this and that, it was obvious to most people it was like a deduction. Plus it was really more to highlight the fact that if there were problems and defects with the monteros, mitsubishi so far are able to fix it.
