Did the 2 of you read the earlier posts? Why people compared the CRV and the MS? Doesn't seem like you 2 did to make such statements!

The dude who is in the middle of deciding which car to get is choosing between the MS and crv. If he wanted a pilot or a fortuner or whatever car, that really is his choice isn't it? He directly asked a comparison between the crv and ms... what if i ask you the different between a kia pride and a ferrari.. would you say i don't know how to compare? And that i have no right in comparing the two because its not proper? Nor do i have a right to choose between the 2 cars.. what if those are my choices? Those are the only 2 cars i like or i have in my mind? I can't get the other because they aren't in the same level?

And my gosh.. MS compared to the Pilot? even that comparison is wrong... The MS does not have a couterpart in honda.. the only fair comparison to a MS is probably the fortuner.. The Pilot would be along the lines of a Pajero, or Patrol and the likes.. Can you say that the pajero is with the same level as MS? Doesn't look right to me, but hey that's just my opinion because i don't know how to properly compare..

I guess the 2 of you are the only ones who know how to properly compare because you just told the member who helped the dude compare the crv to the MS a bunch of idiots because we do not know how to compare cars... because all along we " DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT A PROPER COMPARO IS".....

I don't know about the rest, i do believe i know a little something about cars.. and i am one of the ones who compared the MS and crv and other minisuvs.... and i am very much offended with those statements, especially of mr. memphis raines!

Its really hard to compare vehicles, things, religion & even people. Mag-aaway-away lang lahat . People have their own opinion(/s)..and they have the right to ask questions.

But Sir Ntyce is correct. A co-member had asked a comparison between two vehicles. It does not mean that the latter should be in the same level.

I hope we can prevent "unfriendly" arguments in this forum. Please treat this like its our own house & we should be proud of it.

I read some forums in tsikot.com. May mga nag-aaway. It's really not nice to read. Very unpleasant to the eyes..hehehe..

Let's just love our own things..almost all of us in MSCP have the same passion(/s) ..IMHO

Maybe you missed out the part when the new forumer (I'm sorry sir, but i forgot your name) posted the comparo question a few days ago. He was asking help on which one to buy.. it was not a "for-the-sake-of-conversation" type of question.
I think in his situation, He is deciding based on his personal "preference". In this case, the CRV and the MS were his choices. So naturally he would ask about 2 models that are not of the same "level" (as one of you mentioned) but that was his choice and our members were very much willing to help. Like what sir ntyce mentioned, We cannot scold him because he compared 2 cars he likes and he didn't follow the rules of "levels". Heck, when i was in the market, i even asked the outie club and compared their ride/performance with the MS.. but no one complained about it. I also did the same with the lancer MX as it was also included in my choices/preference as well.

Our forum is a venue for us to share our talents, ideas, information and even emotions for and about our cars We are all here because we share passion for our rides. This is not a contest thread were people show off and try to prove to everyone else who's right or wrong, who's better and who's not.

Moral of the situation is: Back read. And this goes for all of us.

Does anyone know how to remove scratches from plastic such as tire guards, plastic bumpers, engine covers, etc?

the old trusted Armor All can "hide" these imperfections. I use it to bring back the blacks and the luster of plastics. I just buff it off with wet cloth to lessen the glossy shine.

i do understand that im not comparing apple vs apple here. price point is the main consideration for narrowing it between 2 models. it used to include the subaru forester (at P1.3M); but dropped the forester, not because its an inferior product (actually its superior than CRV), but due to having one source of spare parts and service center which far from my house. i guess convenience played a big part in the decision. so i guess im not here to compare which is a better vehicle but what i believe suits me more. so i came up with certain criteria to judge it with (unique to my taste). all of which were informatively answered by MSCP members. so thank you. keep the arguements (friendly) and counter-arguements coming. its the main reason why come here to check every night . . . . real answers from real users and real enthusiast.

One thing that stands out even with these strong arguements........ MSCP members are FAR more PASSIONATE about about their MS than CRV owners. that is the biggest difference between the psychographics of CRV owners and MS owners in the country.

continue DRIVING the PASSION MS boys! more Power. once i have made my decision, if i go the MS way.......the first thing i will do is the MS SOP.....write my name on the list.

MS guys, let me share my recent experience when i went to visit Mitsu Makati showroom. as i read in the issues thread of MS about Engine Rust in joints. i purposely checked MS displayed in the showroom. they had a lorenz blue 4x2 AT 2.5 and a 3.2 gray MT. both had rush in their engines. i pointed it out to the SA. she couldnt give an answer.

i asked to see a sedona red, she brought me on the 8th floor to check. when we opened the hood, there it is rust in the engine. when we opened another MS on the 8th floor, 3.2 AT GLS SE, also had Rust in the engine.

Now the SA was dumbfounded. she called the tech in charge and even Management to look. Management couldnt give an answer and wouldnt talked to me as SA was asking for help. the tech guy came over to say that its "maybe due to shipping as it was in the SEA for about a month or so, stayed in batangas port - wherein the warehouse is not fully sealed - that caused the rust in the engines. they say it can be remedied." tatangalin na lang daw nila. but no solid answers.

do you guys see these in your MS? dont really really know the exact location of the rust in the engines since i dont know much about engine parts. i wanted to take the photo using my phone cam, but SA said wag na lang daw.

please share your opinions? is this normal? can this be remedied? can this be prevented?

yeah your right but we are free to say what you can think might help some forumer so please ... siguro nga kaya tinawag na forum eh para pag usapan ng maayos ..siguro naman alang perpekto dito sa forum na ito o meron? here is to take what you think might help to improve or correct your ride problem or improvement, and if you're in doubt look for the professional (Casa tech) dahil iba ibang klase ang pagmamaneho ng bawat driver kahit na parehong unit o model ang ginagamit.

About the Pilot thing here is my opinion and reply to you :
Redesigned for 2009, the Pilot is Honda's midsize SUV (not mini nor full SUV). as Edmunds review where is some design comes/share from Acura MDX and Odessy Van


In choosing car well its the one who will use are the last one to decide whether he/she will like it or not, but if you have have some help to enlighten and have a good idea what vehicle is right for the buyer will do as you know a dollar is a dollar.

Again this is my opinion and its up to you if you will think if its right or wrong and don't want anybody get offended !!! Peace

(issues) i will check it out and post it here. hirap lang kasi there are 490 pages to search and read again. kaya nga sometimes hirap to read and make sure the topic hasnt been discussed in the past. may search button ba to make this easier?

just hope there are long term remedies and protection for the rusted parts.

so here are the questions:

1. overall quality of MS - does it have major quality problems or annoying little problems that i should know of? SAs will never admit this; i even asked the owners of citimotors;

I have also read that problems thread about the MS. so far we never encountered even one.

2. PMS - is it high compared to a CRV? consider frequency and cost per PMS?

in the long run, afaik gas engines will still be cheaper to maintain.

*will read more on the PMS of diesel engines once i have made my decision. thanks for the tip

3. cabin noise - do you hear the road noise inside the cabin? do you hear the road bumps? when it rains, is it hard to talk inside the cabin? if yes, can this be addressed or corrected? can we reduce cabin noise by putting in dynamat on the flooring, ceiling and door panels? mahal ba?


road noise is largely dependent on the tires, if you find it noisy, change to another brand and hope it is quieter :D though some forumers here swear that their montys became quieter after changing from their rolling stock.

dynamat and/or undercoat can help, but only on certain areas. may standard insulation na naman ang monty eh.

* how does one tire affect cabin noise? do you mean certain tires design can absorb road bumps and vibrations more than other tires? any suggestions or brands and models? how much kaya?



4. ride comfort - since its truck based, some people say you really can get a comfortable ride from a truck based frame since the body rolls with the pavement; but as i read the MS has independent suspensions thus can keep the frame stable, while absorbing the unpaved roads and potholes; can this be improved? improving bushings, suspension? mahal ba?

Ladder frames can never be as comfy as vehicles with a monocoque chassis. MS has only independent suspension upfront. Rear has a solid axle which is non independent. You could have the bushing customized using poly urethane. But that makes it even noisier

*according to the brochure: front suspension double wishbone coil springs w stabilizer bar? is this the same as independent suspension or a type of independent suspension? rear is 3-link coil springs w stab bar.



5. steering wheel vibrations - saw in the thread MS issues that the steering wheel transmits a significant amount of road vibrations on to the steering wheel and sometimes your arms shakes after driving it for a long road trip, is this true? or this is just a problem for a particular unit?

I find the monty's steering a bit heavy compared to other vehicles. I guess they dialled "out" some steering aid because the monty was intended as a sporty vehicle. But look at it this way, at least its "communicative" and is telling you whats going on the road. I rather have this than a light but "numb" steering.

* AMEN; pero di naman to the extreme description na :your arm shakes after driving it for a long period of time" di ba?


6. since flood issue is important to me, i believe that MS will outperform the Honda Crv by a mile in this regard. is it true that the CRV air intake is placed really low and is upside down that it actually cannot be used to cross flooded streets even low level floods?

i know diesel works better than gas engines in floods; so this is already a plus;

i dunno about this. but i guess its not placed to low that even water puddles will make a crv suck in water.

7. engine noise - i have never owned a diesel engine ever; but with the marketing efforts by auto brands in marketing the CRD engine, it made me consider it. because its supposed to be more powerful and cleaner than gas, and the noise level has been greatly reduce. is this true? if yes, how loud is the engine noise. i still want to be able to appreciate my music while driving; is there a way to reduce the engine noise from entering the cabin area? will dynamat work? mahal ba?

having driven other diesels before, Kia, hyundai, isuzu, i find the mitsu 4m41 as the noisiest. But in the monty, its not that intrusive. you could still have a decent conversation while coasting on a highway.

*how about the 2.5L turbocharged & intercooled 4D56? do you have same opinion as with 4m41, in terms of engine noise?

8. is it a fun car to drive?

Yeah it is fun, suspension is firm, steering as ive said is communicative, and the 3.2 4m41 engine has mountains of torque. Its fun enough for a car enthusiast like me.

*will it be as fun to drive if is just a 2.5L 4D56 turbocharged engine 4x2? that what im thinking of purchasing kasi?

hope you guys can spend time to share your thoughts. really want to be an MS owner someday but i hope that it will be fun and less of a headache.
