Mas mura ba yan compared to Bridgestone AT duelers?

    Thanks

    mga idol,

binigay na ng casa ang quote nila for my front suspension repair... whopping P40,000 +++ daw. Plus calibration ng injection pump ko P25,000 a total of 65k, originally 79k daw, due to 35% parts and 15% labor discount 65k na lang daw. NO WAY!

nagpaquote ako sa Rapide, same parts to be replaced altho replacement (555) parts daw ang gagamitin ang quotation is P13,950. with 6mos warranty nationwide.

I have yet to look for a shop na gagawa ng calibration ng injection pump ko.

rlx555, read ka sa comments dito sa tsikot about rapide, calibration sa central diesel nasa 18k. ok na ang 555 but it wont last as long as oem. balljoints and pitman and idler arm kung kaya oem mas maganda.
sa naalala ko mga dapat palitan are
    balljoints upper and lower (oem)
bushings dalawang upper and isang lower (oem)
stabilizer bar U bushing (oem) 150 pesos lang to
    stabilink 555
idler and pitman arm (oem sana but pwede narin 555)
tierod end inner and outer (555)

Greetings po to all FM owners. Im recently on looking for an SUV with 4x4 capabilities, budget around 500 to 600+K, to make the story short, i have my eyes on the Pajero Fieldmaster around 1999 model.

Now i have a lot of questions i hope you could help me with, i have been researching late into the night about the pajero for the past few nights and have been wanting to get more concrete answers from users. BTW, i would not be using it everyday naman, tancha ko 2 to 3 times a week papuntang tanay, may part kasi dun na unpaved and very rocky road na, i dont want pick ups din kasi meron na dad ko. pasensya na kasi personally i own a civic, its my first car and for years its the only thing i know, now kasi diesel engine, ibang brand, SUV pa, plus second hand

    1. How much would a pajero 4x4 FM 1999 model be selling nowadays, from direct sellers and those in second hand shops?given its in good condition and no major engine problems?(nakalagay kasi dun negotiable, but i have no idea how much, most probably i would be buying from those shops)

    2. What are the most common "sakit" or problems with the FM?

    3. Is it true na mahal ang maintenance neto?parts availability from suspension, engine, turbo, power windows etc? ( am just starting to learn about diesel engines palang) Lalo na yung turbo, pag nasira how do you fix it? how much would one cost? are the parts used durable?

    4. Naka-inspect ako ng isang unit kanina, sobrang lakas at grabe ang usok from the muffler, iniwasan ko na sya. Given na its a diesel engine, ganun ba talaga ang usok neto? if kung may usok gaano lang dapat kahina at anung klase ang kulay dapat?

    5. If mausok na ang engine, kahit ba irepair, overhaul, mawawala yung usok?ang perception ko kasi is that mahirap na mapatino ulit.

    6. what to expect from the fieldmaster? i know na mejo underpowered siya pero its alright naman with me as long as it gets me from point A to point B. how bout aircondition system? maingay ba sa loob, like maririnig yung diesel engine, suspension parts etc.? how about the ride?

7.bihira ako makakita ng manual neto, madalas laspag din. konti lang ba talaga mga manual? personally i dont like matics eh, pero kung walang choice, okay ba matic neto? nabasa ko somewhere na sirain daw matic neto? if sirain, mura ba parts? plus is it just me? halos lahat 4x2 nakikita ko, baka may reason for it.

8.lastly, how can i tell na superb or magandang condition pa yung FM? i read here somewhere is to really check the interior especially the driver side area, kung laspag sidings, may scracthes, steering wheel, seats. aside from that anu pa? lalo na sa engine? hayop naman kasi ang detail ng mga shops na second hand, para lang mabulag ka or matago nila yung true condition ng car minsan.

newbie po, i have a pajero 2.8 fm, and it keeps on leaking oil rear side, but not as alarming, kasi patak lng po tska hindi naman po nagbabawas whenever i check on the engine oil, pero nakakairita po, kasi whenever i see my garage meron po spot of oil, ok namn po walang leak sa rocker cover pati sa mga half moons front and rear, i think the culprit is the rear oil seal, any body here had their rear oil seal done, what i heard po kasi eh mejo mahal po ang labor, kasi they have to take off the whole tranny., para maaccess nila ung rear side of the engine...

    any input appreciated thank you.

i had been reading the earlier post, dun po sa speedometer problem, change my speed sensor and no luck, check the wiring from the sensor to the gauge no luck, the culprit is the main PCB underneath the speedometer, have it check to your suking electrician, mine eh my binypass lng na connection and naging ok na..

my tires are michellin ltx at.. and nearly 10k na, ok pa din..

hello sir, i'll try my best to answer your questions. for me, i do not have a fieldmaster pajero, jdm lang nga pajero ko pero it has a fieldmaster engine, jdm pajero 2.8L ang ride ko.

here are the answers to your questions:

    1. Pajero FM sa ngayon, lowest i've seen na diesel eh around 600k up. newer models, around 900k to 1M, depending on model. there are 2 types of FM, 4x2 at 4x4. ang 4x4 ay makikita sa older models kasi ang new releases, 4x2 lang kung hindi ako nagkakamali.

    2. since diesel, eto ang madalas, usok. sa kin, usok lang talaga. others are fine with me

Welcome to tsikot bisita. try ko sagutin some of your questions.

    1. dont know, swertehan nalang talaga makahanap ng fresh at mura, take note lang 99 model is already 10 years old kaya normal lang na used na talaga.
I would still recomend oem hanggat kaya ng budget.
    4. mine hindi mausok, ang pinaka dapat lang naman iwasan yung kumakain na ng langis, kung usok marami pwedeng reasons pwedeng simple air filter change lang to as bad as blow by na. best way to be sure is pa compression test mo.
    5. same as no. 4 question
    6. no problem sa lamig, ride medyo may magkakaproblem ka kasi you mentioned galing ka sa civic. ingay meron talaga kasi diesel. pag nasa highway ka doing 130 rinig mo talaga yung makina. suspension parts basta papalitan mo lahat sabay sabay it will last a very long time. spend ka mga 25 to 30k dito pwede pa bumaba ng malaki pag replacement 555 parts gamitin.
try to read on your spare time the whole thread, lista mo yung mga napagusapan dito na dapat icheck. for sure mapapadali ka sa pag hahanap ng fresh unit. Goodluck sa hunting,

testament, pareho tayo ng mga sagot ah,

dexlirio, sure ba engine oil? kasi di kamo nagbabawas engine oil, di kaya atf or diff oil? is it black (engine oil)? yellow (diff or transfer case) gear oil? red (atf or power steering)?

600+ to 800 it varies depending on the condition of the rig

it is actually quite cheap to maintain (except for the tires and oem shocks)

hindi naman sya mausok unless may diperensya yun unit or biglang tatapakan ang gas pedal. it is a heavy rig so yun acceleration nya talaga is not as good as your civic. it takes time to build up speed

kayang-kaya yan ng mga suking mekaniko natin.

medyo underpowered siguro kung hanap mo eh acceleration. aircon is good, dual A/C pa sya. maingay..... usually 2nd row seats tend to sqeak. diesel engines are noisy. kung gusto mo padagdagan mo na lang ng padding sa loob.
stock shock absorbers are wobbly so expect na medyo maalog lalo na kung soft ang setting.

mahirap maghanap ng manual nito. 4x4 variants are the earlier models while the 4x2 variants are the later models. I prefer the 4x4 since this is an SUV afterall.

check all the switches and electrical. check for vibrations especially from the shifter (kapag may vibration, palit ka transmission support) check if transmission is ok since this is an automatic tranny(check if it is shifting correctly. approx 40 to 45 kph for 3rd gear and 65 to 70 kph 4th gear) check ATF, check for leaks(engine, atf, power steering, gearbox etc) check the engine(start engine, open filling cap, then place your palm. if oil splatters, maybe the engine needs to be overhauled)
