I do agree that Fort has better NVH than the MS. Also, their 4x4 engine is way quieter or should i say refined in terms of engine sound. Not sure though on the new VGT ?
The steering is disappointing, especially when my wife tried driving the MS.
    Can this be remedied?
Hmm, never noticed the engine difference. Maybe the Mitsu's engine is more "unrefined" due to the turbo lag? (hangang ngayon problem parin nila yan eh). Dynomat lang katapat niyan

I doubt the steering can be remedied. The best thing you can do is to improve your grip on the wheel so turning using one hand is, at least, possible.

So you mean sir, that the turbo lag is is still present even on the MS 2.5 with VGT?
I thought this is addressed on the new 2011 MS with VGT?... di pa pala?

I absolutely hate over light power steering too. It makes for boring driving with no sense of feel and reminds me of the earlier agricultural tractors.

You stated the MS ride was better than the Fortuner, but you never mentioned how bad he actual engine in the Fort was. I too drove the non-vgt 4x2 MS and 2.5 4x2 Fortuner on the same day late last year. I could not beleive how bad the Toyota performed. I went in with open mind as the Fortuner is not sold where I come from, (nor is the current MS atm for that matter). I was expecting the Fortuner to outshine the MS, but it felt like a 90s vehicle in lots of ways.
I did not even want to try the ford because I hate the look of it.

I don't mind the 28's as long as the driver will let other vehicles pass when on bad roads. Dami kasi sa amin (mostly students) driving on bling rims tapos traffic jam pagdating sa mga bad parts ng road kasi iwas galos sa rim. hehe. Sa looks it's subjective. Some like it, some don't.

    I'm happy riding on my 16's. :D

To the few blessed VGT owners (already), do you still experience the "turbo lag" even with the 5 speed AT?

According to my neighbor (he got a white GLS-V just 2 days ago), nandoon pa daw turbo lag. But it's less noticeable daw.

Hehe, what's with the double posting?

All turbo diesels have some lag. Compared to other older models it is less noticable.

I think the reason the Fortuner does not feel like it has much lag is because of it's small turbo. In other words it may have 90hp without and 103 with it spinning. Like from very very slow, to very slow.

If any of you guys interested in apexi turbo timer I have 1unit for sale. This is a warranty replacement from our suking S4S store. I bought my first unit from s4s and after 2months of use it suddenly failed to operate and the check engine light went on. I went to s4s and they immediately replaced it with a brand new unit but I opted to have it removed na lang since i have to bring the car to the casa to reset the check engine light. The unit is now with me practically brand new sans the wire(they only replaced the module and not the wires). Bought originally for 2.8t and now selling for 1.5t. Na lang, you pay for installation at s4s for 300pesos.will give orig receipt for warranty purposes kung meron pa.

Rfs- after using the turbo timer for 2months,(oct-dec) i finally taught myself to cool down engine manually na lang hehehe.

Buti pa yung brandless (Volution?) turbo timer (installed on a GLS 4x2), ok pa din. hehehe. Hopefully wala naman maging problem.

Php2,300 pala yun sa C3 audio sa Araneta Avenue. Pero kay Jemson ko na pinakabit. Mas kampante kasi ako sa skill niya magkabit. So additional Php200 or Php300 pa for the install.

In fairness my boss also has an Apexi turbo timer but installed in his Land Cruiser. Ok pa din naman.

The TT will work with both VGT and non VGT models since it really doesn't do anything with the turbo itself. It controls the engine shut down function, not the turbo function.

Hmm, possible but I doubt it. Possible since maliit lang physical structure difference ng D4BH sa 4D56 but I doubt that they'll use the same VGT now that Hyundai is one step ahead with their eVGT technology.

Only a close inspection would yield results. Since bago palang yun VGT ng Mitsu, I guess it's only speculation for us at this point. Baka meron dito close sa MMPC na pwede iconfirm ito?

MS (4x2) ride and power is much better than the Fort. However, Fort (4x4) power and engine sound is much better than the MS (4x4) GLS SE.
I was to test both, and it's just my personal observation.

Overall, i still prefer the MS over Fort. Although still have some reservations.... i guess there really is no perfect car
Peace bros and thanks for the feedbacks.... keep them coming

Sir otep, is a turbo timer recommended for the VGT? Haven't done my research yet on this though (the incoming VGT GT-V will be our first diesel engine gasoline biased family ko eh)

I put one in a Patrol VGT also. As for the benefit, I can't really say. But there's no harm in putting one in as long as your installer is competent.

If I set the timer to one minute, I can already walk out the vehicle and arm the alarm then walk away. That's how my installer installed my turbo timer.

OT: May friend akong ahente ng Toyota sabi this year na lalabas ang Toyota Fortuner. Dati kasi binalitaan niya ako tungkol sa Alphard mga 3-months after lumabas nga yung Alphard.
