Doc Alcapone, Winterpine and Big Berts are located at Araneta Ave. it's near SM Sta. Mesa and E. Rodriguez Sr. Opposite sides sila

You might also see me hanging there these following weeks since it's nearly time for our quarterly Big Berts car pampering days

it defeated the purpose of the car. siguro max speed niya is 50kph. beyond that is dangerous na for him kasi nga madali mabengkong.

The stock wheels of the Monty still is good. You might want to rather save the money if you're on a budget since good 20 inchers can be priced 80k upwards.

I'll stick with 20-21 inches. 22 inches seems too firm just by thinking about it. Besides, off-road vehicle dapat Monty eh... I personally am not a fan of performance tires on Monteros.
20 inchers at 80k?. . . Dang! I doubt thats gonna gets the wife approval...
Its 40k for the rims and 40k for the tires?

My 08 gls 4m41 really needs common rail box to keep up with my gtv, tried it last nyt on a stretch in nlex, pulling away after the signal both cruising 80 kph before signal

    Hello MS tsikoters,
I hope this finds you all well.
I'm currently scouting for a new SUV and one of which being considered is the 2011 MonteroSports. I was able to test drive the GLS 4x2 AT, but not the VGT variant.
Ride was better compared to Fort and Eve. I've noticed though that the steering is "mabigat" compared to other SUV's. Likewise, NVH is somewhat inferior compared to the aforementioned. No offence meant, but these are my personal observations. May also be subject to the test vehicle used.
To those who have their MS VGT, could you kindly provide some feedback as to the performance, riding comfort, FC, etc...
Also, is it worth having the VGT over the GLS V for 280K?

    TIA.

Well, since wala pa unit ko (GTV), can't really comment too much with regards to the VGT ride.

However, having test driven the Fortuner and, recently, my uncle's 2008 GLS. I can give the following remarks:

    1. The Monty's interior is definitely a notch ahead. Hard plastics on the Fortuner is a . The Monty isn't a notch ahead but the dash layout is very nice. You could still feel some cheap materials on the knobs but that's about it. Not a fan of the titanium accent but it does invoke a sporty flair.

    2. The Fortuner drives more like a Toyota per se... very nice NVH insulation but not much driving fun unlike the Monty where you can throw it around like a sedan. Try the manual of the Monty and you'll be surprised on how nice the tranny is. Comfort is better on the Montero. I'll go for the Fortuner if the firm suspension improves handling... but it doesn't.

    3. True that the steering's heavy weighted than most and was surprised that a Ford Expedition's steering was way lighter. It isn't negative on my part though.

    4. The 280k difference is worth it. Just the engine upgrade is worth it the GLS-V is worth it but the jump from the GLS-V to the GT-V isn't. I'm forking the cash just because of it's 4x4 really..

I have high hopes on the VGT's low RPM range. Hopefully I won't be disapointed. I'm a bit worried about the turbo lag though. Since city driving normally mga nasa 2000-3000RPM ka lang, you'll really feel the difference in power.

The main selling point is the price difference. With that, you can slap the Monty an all-around Dynamat (and add some heft to it) and it'll be quiet like an executive sedan. Plus, you still have some extra change for other upgrades (like monitors for the rear)

I have no personal experience with a 3.2 SE but, i guess its fast enough based on the specs. Anyhow i have seen SUV's or cars with smaller displacement beat those with higher displacement even those with VGT on a daily basis. For me the knowledge of the traffic flow, experience and skill are equally important to handle the SUV to its full potential. But, if you are in an empty freeway (which rarely happens) there is no other way but to give way. Peace!

Thank you so much for your feedback JHNKVN. Appreciate your personal remarks and observations.
I do agree that Fort has better NVH than the MS. Also, their 4x4 engine is way quieter or should i say refined in terms of engine sound. Not sure though on the new VGT ?
The steering is disappointing, especially when my wife tried driving the MS.
    Can this be remedied?

I think you're underestimating the prices of mags It's an upgrade I definitely won't be making since talaga ang MAHAL nila. Not the type of person who loves aftermarket wheels kasi. I'd only replace them kung talaga pangit yun ride.. if not, I'd spend the cash on car audio (one of my weakness)

For a sample price kung magkano sila.. shop around sulit.com.ph. Ex:

    http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/vi...eds/id/2568526

P.S. the price severely increases from 18 inches and above. Hope I didn't discourage you from purchasing these badasses :D Changing the wheels is one of the most apparent ways on how to differentiate yourself from the crowd after all (bodykits is one more thing)
