IMO i have some doubts with those break-in periods. Eh kung sa factory plant pa nga lang they Dyno each car after release. i think the Break-in period is there so you'll be driving your new vehicle carefully so you won't destroy or prematurely wear new engine components.

with my case, i drive my car normally with hataw mode on the side even if its new.

^ the eng'r of car companies designed cars to have break-in period para in the long run ay mas magiging maganda performance. Unless nagwowork tayo mismo sa car company (sa manufacturing mismo at alam natin yung totoo), better to be safe than sorry. Follow the manual.

You are dead right Sir. The persons who write them do so for a reason. Although cars to not have to be broken-in and head tightened like in the past, it makes good sense not to put undue stress on a new enigine. This would usually mean keeping it in a varried rev range, and in the case of a manual transmission, not coming near stalling speed by been in to high a gear.

Got Our 4x4 Montero Black GT-V.. Picture will be posted tomorrow.. I am too lazy to have one right now..

    - Ride Comfort is the same as the Old Montero..
    - Shifting is not as good as what I had expected but it's acceptable..
    - Turbo Lag is there..
    - Fastest speed so far = 100kph at more or less 2k rpm..
    - Brake is better compared to our 4x4 Montero GLS SE 3.2 2009 Model..
    - Sound Qualtiy is Acceptable..(I need more time to observe..)
    - AC is Good
    - Steering is Heavier than our Old Montero but it's okay..

    That's it for now Guys..

Technically it is not break-in that the ask us to observe, but rather advice on initial few hundred KMs.

Consequently, I did not do this when I get my '10 CRV. I kept it 100kph max within the 1000 kms.

    to add:

ok lang naman patakbuhin ng mabilis basta smooth acceleration, and dapat dont stay on same speeds, dapat varying speeds, to seat the rings and other moving things properly, same goes when braking, smooth din to seat the pads properly.

Bro. "break-in" although it is not a technical term, it has been used for decades.
