Test drove a Monty GLS-V today.
    I'm impressed

    I liked the
    a. Rear ride.I sat in the 3rd row while the SA drove me around bumpy off terrain. Not so bouncy, not so firm... just right.
    b. AV GPS Bluetooth unit. I like the OEM look. And the way the mount has a small awning/roof for noon time glare. Theres some noticeable lag in the AVT logics between switching, but I can live with that considering that it wasnt included in the 2010 Monty.
    c. Turning radius is decent to good.
    d. Seat Fabrics. Wont soil.
    e. Dash interior accents...silver metal accents is simple but elegant. It should age gracefully.
    f. Steering wasnt heavy, in fact Its better than my civic on 18's.

    What I didnt like:
    a. Doors doesnt lock when you brake the car/No automatic door closing system. Come on this is a 1.4M php purchase.
    b. Definitely no space for stuff if you use the 7 seats.
    c. Very cumbersome to deploy the 3rd seats when you need to use it.
    d. Drum brakes at the back. Some 1.3 Li cars have disk brakes at the rear already.

    Questions:
    a. At the list price of 1.408M, Is the Immobilizer,Alarm,Keyless entry included?(sorry forgot to ask the SA)
    b. Whats your average Fuel consumption? Do you guys get 10kms./li or better.
    c. The audio controls on the steering wasnt there, how much do add to get it.
    d. Of course the speakers and SQ wasnt there, any Monty GLS-V owners outthere who tinkered with the OEM HU? Is it decent witha processor?
    e. Are headrest monitors "Plug and Play" affair?

Over-all for me its 8/10.. I'm still waiting for my scheduled Test drive with a G.Starex TCi A/T test drive.

    Thanks

    Petix

The avt head unit has limited tuning just baas and tebel an because it functions as the gps and mid there is no way we can can replace the hu without losing these functions. I've already replaced the stock speakers with focals. The stocls were like made of cardboard and added an amp and a pair of headrest monitors. Check with your installer if the harness is complete if not you nees to purchase it directly from winterpine. As for rhe processor as mentioned earlier the hu has limited tuning capabilities and you really need a processor to achieve good sound quality. I had to order an alpine pxa h660 via amazom.com

Mitsubishi manual calls it running-in period. You are actually "breaking in" not just the engine but also the other components (transmission, suspension, etc.)

just wondering with my grand starex VGT AT, at 2000rpm i am already doing 110kph at 2500 rpm my speed is way past 140kph even with aircon on, and the eco drive still indicates economical driving (green light) parang ang laki discrepancy ng rpm reading ng ms vgt?

It's still officially considered a dealer option, but I have not heard of any dealers omitting it. Maybe they were out of stock .....

GPS is always free in the sense that the signal is readily available to those who have equipment to receive the signals, and the software and maps to convert those signals to a usable navigation system.

There are however some companies that have subscription services, and they usually use cellphone technology to update the maps and cell network triangulation to find your rough position giving the gps a helping hand. A combination of GPS and cellphone gprs is also used in tracking devices, where you usually pay a suscription also.

The MS system is a stand alone one, just like garmin or tom tom. You buy the car with this device which includes software/maps. The only time you might want to fork out pesos is if you want the maps updated.

guys, just wanted to ask... is it necessary to "warm up" monteros? my father warms up his montero for about 5 minutes before leaving... is this necessary or just a waste of diesel...

    thanks...

Sir Krinx "it is a little practice that goes in a long, long way". Na-afford easily nga bilhin ng daddy mo ang montero, yong diesel pa kaya? Ever since HINDI AKO NAG-WARM UP SA MGA SASAKYAN KO MAS LALO NA SA MONTERO KO NGAYON. IT IS A WRONG PRACTICE KONG FUEL INJECTED ANG MAKINA.

Should You Let Your Car Warm Up Before Driving?

Remember those cold mornings when you were a kid? Dad would go out, fire up the station wagon and come inside to drink coffee while the car warmed up. Warming up the car just makes sense, right? Actually, it does not.
There is an old saying that just because 50 million people say something, it doesn't make it true. This is very much the case with the notion of letting your car warm up. You've heard you are supposed to do it and, logically, it seems to make sense. The only problem, of course, is it is nonsense if your car is fuel injected, which most are these days.

First things first - your father was not wrong about warming up the old station wagon. Cars used to have carburetors to handle the fuel input into the engine. Carburetors were not precise instruments and they worked better when warmed up. By letting the car idle, the engine would warm up. Heat would rise and the carburetor would get nice and toasty.

Nearly all modern cars have ditched the carburetor approach. Now, they are designed to use electronic fuel injection systems controlled by computer programs and processing units. These new systems do not need to a warm up period. The programs work right off the bat. When the car is cold, the programs will adjust the fuel flow to come up with the most efficient engine performance solution. As the car warms up, the software program will continue to adjust the fuel mixture.

Ah, but what about lubrication? Letting the car warm up gets the oil moving around and so on, right? Again, we have to look at how the modern car works and the products that have been tailored to it. Modern oil does not come from the ground directly to your car. It is processed, refined and tweaked to create certain properties. One of them is a "stickiness" that causes the oil to bond at a molecular level with the engine parts. This means that there is effectively a layer of oil on the parts at all time, even before you start the car!
The desire to fire up your car and let it sit while warming up is one you really have to fight. All you are accomplishing when you do this is wasting gas and kicking out fumes from the tailpipe. Time is money. Get a move on!
