Any recommendation for a car battery para sa 1.5V? My stock battery just died paglabas sa garahe. Any specific brand/model number? Ang sabi nyo is to stay away from Motolite.

    I've had luck w/ Panasonic...

Others have sworn by Amaron which isn't carried by anyone near me.

Didn't notice any posts saying to stay away from Motolite. Anyone care to share why? Haven't changed by battery yet since purchasing the car back in Dec '14. I may need to be changing it soon.

Recently kasi maganda yung feedback about sa performance ng Amaron vs. Motolite. Kaya siguro hindi na din ma-irecommend as primary battery replacement si Motolite.

around 2 years ago, my 3sm motolite battery died prematurely. Since I had one more month till the warranty expired, I called motolite to have it replaced. They gave me the runaround, even seemingly 'blaming' me insinuating that I had my lights on overnight or the alarm went off overnight (which will never be the case since the car is directly below my bedroom and would have no doubt noticed those scenarios). Motolite even suggested that I should go to their motolite branch (somewhere near UST yata... can't recall now) to have my 'electricals' checked. As expected, they would not lend me a battery while I do what they are suggesting (how can i even bring it there if it won't start?). I went to my friendly neighborhood talyer to see if they can find any parasitic draw.... they found none of course and just laughed and said, "ganyan talaga ang motolite...." so apparently, I'm not the only victim.

So ever since, I've sworn off Motolite. The Motolite warranty is useless as they will not honor it... especially if you only have a few months left before the warranty expires.

in contrast, in one instance, when my battery seemed to have "died prematurely" (1 month before warranty expired), i brought it to the motolite outlet where i had been buying all my batteries from, for over a decade. they checked the battery, they checked my charging system. then they gave me a replacement battery, no other questions asked. they even had the original transaction in their computer. i did not have to present the receipt.
i suppose, it boils down to the folks running the shop and not the brand.

in all the other instances, the battery died after the warranty period, 2-3 months after warranty (el cheapo model, intended for gas but i used it anyway on my diesel, so i can't really complain too much, because i have a habit of turning off the engine during long stoplight cycles), to double the warranty period (diesel, over 4 years).

Agree. It's the same idea with different Car Dealerships of the same brand Some dealerships are just plain a**holes, while others gives top-notch quality service

Used to be a loyal Motolite motorist & more. Their quality just isn't up to the competition anymore. I hope their acquisition of Australia's Exide could put some new focus into the brand. I've long switched to other brands....in search for 1 I can transfer that loyalty to. Currently observing Panasonic. So far, so good.

this disloyalty... is based on... how many batteries, kaya?

yung iba kasi, loyalty shifts, because "one battery failed their expectations".

We're talking decades here.....Based on batteries on different cars progressively dying just after crossing warranty....might be a series of flukes? Or expiry science is now more exacting?

    i agree with the last.
manufacturers have perfected the science of battery failure, a week or two, after warranty expires.

    seriously.
personally, i would question my usage, looking for situations that might have led to earlier battery failure.

    these come to mind...
non-usage for long periods of time, the last one coming home from night driving in the rain, in heavy traffic.
    engine off in long-cycle stoplights.
short trips. my workplace is less than 6 km away from the house. engine temp barely up to normal yet... battery not charged enough yet, to compensate for the starting drain.
standstill traffic. we have much more of it nowadays.

Mine are either daily drivers ( the road is my workplace) or on battery tenders. The relative data I've gathered from my usage just aren't encouraging nor funny anymore.

I really don't intend to put down any brand....I'd prefer to buy Filipino, honestly.
The EFB they're giving Mazda has yet to get desirable reviews. Again, I'm hoping their Exide division could hand over improvements or even introduce an affordable AGM line for Motolite. Who knows?

i understand. i, too, have a filipino flag in my wallet.

as an aside, or maybe, not so much aside..
have you noticed, going over the watches in the usual watch stores... the seconds hand does not consistently point accurately to the marker.
abroad, i looked at these same watches, and their seconds hands were more accurate in aligning with the markers.
also, shoes. the ones i bought abroad, seemed to survive wear and tear better than similar locally-purchased...
    what about batteries...?
is it because, consumers' rights abroad are stronger?

Gotta admit our market is predominantly hobo....& hobos might be deemed beggars...devoid of the right to choose.
