I guess we can only say it's worth it if we get a scratch. But who would want that. Hehe!

Guys, need your inputs, for those who own the Skyactiv version, have you changed your car batteries? I purchased my Mazda 3 last June 2015, this morning, I finally got a warning signal sa I-stop and battery icons. My questions:

    1) Normal ba to replace the battery after 2 years and 3 months? Usage ko is 6x a week, traveling for around 2-3 hours per day, air con always on. Headlights and fog lamps turned on only during night driving (1-1.5 hours per day)

    2) Sa casa Lang ba talago replacement? Has anyone tried replacing the batteries sa normal battery shops? If yes, which type of battery and what brand?

    3) I've read somewhere na changing the batteries (if not done sa casa) might disable the I-stop function, is this true? For those who tried, how did you fix the I-stop function, read somewhere that it needs to be reset.

    Thanks in advance

1.) Your battery lasted a little longer than expected (...at least relative to mine). Normaly this would need to be replaced somewhere between 1.5 to 2 years depending on actual usage (iStop, et al.)

2.-3.) So far I’ve only done replacements with the casa. They need to reset and calibrate iStop after battery replacements.

Others swear by Amaron. It works with the istop daw. A lot cheaper compared to the one from casa.

iStop will work w/ regular batts. Many are on that experiment w/ Amaron & Panasonic. If these non-EFB/AGM batts can last half the life of the Mazda sub EFB Motolite, they can be worthy options. Might be premature to tell. The oldest 3s just turned 3 a few months ago. Anyone out there running iStop on regular Amaron for more than a year? Please let us know for archiving here. Thanks.

2 years and 3 months is about the same lifetime for a normal car battery and considering its an i-Stop battery with constant charging and discharging its actually pretty good.

I think M3 and CX5 have similar or the same electrical components. So i guess it should be okay to use Amaron.

Installed Amaron 2SN for my 2.5 CX5 last June 2016, no problem so far. Everything is working properly. My OEM battery lasted for 35 months. Paid for 5.2k IIRC for amaron batt.

Daily driver, sir? Impressive stock batt life. Amaron beyond a year looks worthy, too. Nice info.

    About 4x a week, sir.

Probably my habit of turning off the istop during heavy traffic made the battery last longer. I think istop is not designed for MM traffic condition and it causes pre mature deterioration of the battery.

i used to turn off my engine during long red lights. city driving only, 6 km average trip.
hayun... nag-expire (yung non-deep cycle battery) just after the 12 month warranty.
but in our other same-make car that is run for longer distances, the same battery lasted over 4 years.

Yeah, iStop is really more for the environment than anything.
