Nope! Yong Sorento ko imported din at sa Wheels E. Rod ako nagpapaservice. Good ang service at reasonable lang ang charge. In your case, you can have your Sorento service doon sa dealer na pinagbilhan mo kung local bought sya. Don't think like that... baka magka idea pa sila nyan..he he he (joking)
As for the warranty sa imported Sorento, as gregg_g said, that's the risk we have to face but we believe sa quality of build ng Sorento. We are not the testbed like the others. Both of us got over 8K na at never got problems or whatsoever.

Pics and fuel efficiency reports please. We're also planning to buy a Sorento.

    C! Magazine's latest issue reported a 12.10s 0-100 km/h burst. Is that good enough for a 1,981kg 2.5 diesel automatic?

    Thanks!

You can talk to these importers first if they can extend to you some warranty. Who knows, maybe one of them can. You've got nothing to loose
asking anyway. If none of them can, then you can go ahead buying from wheels. Their service is good. I don't know with other dealers, I've been with wheels since I got my Sorento. Check with HANS motors.

KCBoy, sorry can't post pictures of my Sorento yet since I'm currently out of the country. One thing I will do when I reach home.

Heretic, some figures that might show why you won't be left out with Sorento in burst speed:

    SORENTO 2.5 DIESEL
    HP - 140
    TORQUE - 343Nm
    0-100KM/H - 12.10s
    TRANS - 5-SPEED AUTO
    KERB WT - 1,981KG

    FORTUNER 3.0 DIESEL
    HP - 163
    TORQUE - 343Nm
    0-100KM/H - 12.20s
    TRANS - 4-SPEED AUTO
    KERB WT - 1,945KG

    RAV4 2.0 GAS
    HP - 150
    TORQUE - 192Nm
    0-100km/h - 10.8s
    TRANS - 4-SPEED AUTO
    KERB WT - 1,385KG

    X-TRAIL 250 GAS
    HP - 180
    TORQUE - 245Nm
    0-100km/h - 10.4s
    TRANS - 4-SPEED AUTO
    KERB WT - 1,480KG

    HONDA CRV 2.0 GAS
    HP - 158
    TORQUE - 190Nm
    0-100km/h - 11.0s
    TRANS - 4-SPEED
    KERB WT - 1,510KG

So weight is not a problem for Sorento considering just minimal seconds difference in burst speed even if it's a diesel SUV. Also, torque is ample and you get the advantage of a 5-speed gearbox.

I have checked that site jeanpierre posted and it was really great for Sorento owners.I'm amazed how strong and reliable Sorento CRDi is beating 40 competitors including BMW X5,Jeep Cherokee, Range Rover and Volvo in that contest. That's quite an acheivement for Sorento di kagaya ng ibang brand dyan na puro porma lang wala namang credential. Kaya Sorento rin ang choice ko kasi may pang porma ka na, may supporting credentials pa na ipag mamalaki. Matibay.

jeanpierre, our sorento is covered by 3 year or 110Tkm warranty. and yes, our dealer can do the registration renewal for us but we don't have to worry about that in the meantime considering that it's registered for 3 years already.

kcboy, about your concerns on service, i think wala namang problema ang service centers ng kia. i got to inspect and talk to 2 kia service shops (people on the floor itself) first before we bought our sorento. mura lang parts and service. i'll ask our dealer if they will service grey units and get back to you.

jean-pierre, tnx for posting that new sorento award and the stats on sorento and other suvs. just wondering, mas mabigat pa pala ang sorento natin kaysa sa fortuner 3.0 even if the latter looks a lot bigger. what made our rides heavier?

and by the way because i'm not a car techie, what's the diff. between 4-speed and 5-speed auto trans? speed, performance? pls enlighten. ty

sorento_tlx, you're right, mukhang stepboard ang most impt accessory for a sorento because of its height. that's the next target for our ride.

jrln, I think one of the reason why Sorento is more heavier(36kg) than the Fortuner 3.0 is due to it's body construction. Sorento is using ladder frame body with 9 crossmembers which is more rigid and has given the Sorento 5-Stars crash result( http://www.automotive.com/used-cars/...1/kia/sorento/).Fortuner is using ladder type chasiss which I think borrowed from their Hilux pick-up model.

As for the transmission, the difference between 4-speed trans and 5-speed trans is their number of gearing ( Kambio ). 4-speed trans has 4 gear ratios o tawag natin quarta while 5 speed trans has 5 gear ratios tawag natin quinta.
Sorento has 5-speed transmission which gives him a more smoother transmission shifts and better gearing for different engine speed and for different driving situation. It enables him also to accelerate faster and have a better fuel economy. Also one advantage of having a 5 speed trans is longer engine life because of less stress which is created by higher engine RPM.

Gregg_g, it's okay. 10K without any problems is great. Consumption sa akin minsan umaabot ako minsan sa 10km/l city driving. Check mo tire pressure mo baka mababa. I usually put in around 34 psi which para sa akin maganda kasi feeling ko, no need to press the accelarator that much during stop and go condition where you consume more fuel most. Enjoy your trip to bohol with your family.
