jeanpierre, question, did you remove the 2 cross bars on top of the roof rail on your sorento?
my wife recently drove our sorento on the hiway and heard a noticeable wind noise because of the drag on those two bars. is this normal?

gregg_g, i recall the stats you gave below about the sorento. how come in our registration papers, the kerb weight indicated is only 1655kg? is there a more than 300kg difference between the LX Limited and the EX model because of the additional features in the EX?
SORENTO 2.5 DIESEL
HP - 140
TORQUE - 343Nm
0-100KM/H - 12.10s
TRANS - 5-SPEED AUTO
KERB WT - 1,981KG
Which type of roof rail you've got? Is it the original roof rail or from another company? Sa akin, I did not remove the roof rail cross bars. Baka wind noise is coming from a partially opened window lang. Sa civic ko kasi before na experience ko ang wind noise dahil sa small opening ng window ko dahil sa defective rubber sealing. Drive it yourself din to confirm it. Sa ride ko, I don't really feel it much. Check the spacing of the cross bars too. Sa high speed driving, mayroon talaga pero very minimal lang dapat.Originally Posted by jrln

Also pls check your car manual, and most likely these are the entries you will find - 1,984-2,076 (MT-AT) (for diesel 2.5 engines).... Probably, details of the registration especially the curb weight was not well entered or were done in haste, just check your car manual again in its spec sheet...
it's the original roof rail from kia.Originally Posted by jeanpierre
what we did instead of removing them is to put the 2 cross bars as close as possible together near the end of the rail. medyo nawala yung wind drag noise.
our LX Limited is also 4X4 and tiptronic.Originally Posted by gregg_g
could it be that the 'local' sorento releases here are actually lighter considering that the side and passenger airbags and ABS have been removed and no third row seats? what else? and perhaps because the LX tires are only 225/75 as against the EX's 245/70? mere guesses actually.
will check the manual. kaya lang baka generic sya for all sorentos released worldwide.
My unit has a sunroof. So ginawa ko, yong isang cross bar moved ko sya after the sunroof at yong isa sa dulo ng roof rail sa rear.Originally Posted by jrln
Tungol sa Kerb weight, sa akin mali rin ang entry.
what is the wrong entry for the kerb weight in your registration - 1650kg also? if so, then it could be right afterall, dont you think so?
another thing, our registration papers indicate that our sorento is 6 cylinders. tama ba ito?
the net/shipping weight entry in the my Sorento Registration is 1950 kg but having 6 cylinders in your sorento registration is actually wrong if you have CRDI coz its a 4 cylinder engine...Unless you have the V6 3.5L Gas Engine...Originally Posted by jrln
ours is also a CRDi unit.Originally Posted by gregg_g

Hi. I'm an owner of a Kia Carnival LS 2001 model and am planning to trade it in for a Sorento. I have no problem with the Carnival except for the slipshod work they've done for the seats (I wish I got the original 7 seater), and maybe the long front overhand which scrapes against the sidewalk on our driveway if I back up too fast. Is there a dealer who accepts trade-ins? Currently my carnival averages at 8.5km/li and I am expecting better mileage with the 2.5Li Sorento, and plan to drive from Leyte to Legaspi next year. I don't think my carnival has the ground clearance to clear the potholes.
fishtail, my agent at kia pasay said they dont accept tradeins but can help look for a buyer. personally, i recommend you sell it yourself so you can get a good price for it.Originally Posted by fishtail
Thanks for the advice. I'm currently in the middle of 3 choices here: sell for whatever price I can get and buy a Sorento; wait for another year (my car's still in very good condition); or get a second car.Originally Posted by jrln
Fishtail, try mo WHEELS sa E. Rodriguez. When I first went there to inquire about the Sorento, they mentioned to me that I can trade my Honda Civic ESI. Maybe they still do since it's a KIA rin naman.Originally Posted by fishtail

I'll be uploading my Sorento pics probably after the christmas. Tahimik na Sorento thread natin. Iba na ang trouble free na ride ano? Walang masyadong discussion or probably iilan lang tayo na Sorento owners???
Enjoy your holidays!!!
Hi Jeanpierre,
Yep , seems to be our thread is in tranquil.. You are very right, there is no substitute for a reliable vehicle.. That’s the new Kia Technology !! Actually there are several Sorento owners, probably they are just on the look out for other sorento owners who will be making some posts ! Merry Christmas to you to and your family !!
Btw, I will be posting this in our thread, can I include your personal message too?
It's fine with me. You're absolutely right, new KIA technology has really reach new heights unlike with the others which is seemingly gone to worst. I really hope more Sorento owners will soon find this site and join us. It's been a great and worry-free experience driving the Sorento.
hello to all sorento owners.. ask lang ako regarding on your ride.. where did you get your units from? just visited kia motors a week ago and ive noticed that the sorento's are not equipped with automatic climate controls.. nakakapang hina parang tinipid ng kia philippines mga unit nila dto..
tranzcape, I've got mine from WHEELS, E.Rordriguez. Mine does not have an Auto-climate controls either. The gas variant has Auto-climate controls, but some owners who bought their Sorento from the gray market mentioned that they've got Auto-climate controls too like gregg_g.
For me, the aircon manual controls looks fine naman. Got 10,300 Kms sa ODO at never got problems with it especially the CRDi engine. I'll be uploading the pictures of my Sorento tomorrow since I'm still resizing it. Check it out.
may tao daw nagbebenta ng top of the line na diesel sorrento for 1.1m lang. 3rd row seats, sun roof, auto climate control complete with fender flares. mura sobra. may warranty pa daw. very good deal. ill update you guys if it's true and if the deal pushes thru.

HI Jeanpierre,
Nice ride !! Where these pictures taken recently? If just recent, then you're here in the Philippines already, right? Btw, just a question on your LCD, is it a permanent mount? If not, how will you use your existing HU? PMed you!!
