The Sorrento diesel model is very popular in Europe and I think most buyers there are generally satisfied with its performance. Locally, you would have to consider the quality of after-sales service (which I gather from mbt is crap) and resale value. Amongst us Pinoys, Kia still has not reached the stature of the Toyota and Honda brand names. Hence, be prepared to be take a big hit in terms of depreciation.

These two issues aside, I say GO FOR IT! The papers today say that the Supreme Court decision on the EVAT law might come out next week so you don't have much time left before the dreaded price increase. :jump2:

I called a dealer yesterday and tried to deal, he is supposed to e-mail me a price pero ala naman. He he he!!! OK, I made up my mind to buy one w/out testdriving the EX diesel to beat the EVAT law, kaya lang dito pa ako sa abroad ( darn), if I get my cousin to put IN a deposit for me and pay the balance when I get home and after registration, OK kaya un sa dealer? Are they willing to register it w/ full payment on delivery? Any comment or experince in such matter?

The risk of buying Korean surplus lies in the tropicalization issue. These vehicles, like the Ssangyong Istana (fake MB100D), might suffer overheating problems in the future, as they have not been intentionally made for hot climates like ours.

The MB100 was 'tropicalized' by just putting in a bigger radiator. In theory, you could also do that for the Sorento.

Silver is a good color. Easy to maintain and hindi subject to becoming 'laos' since its a staple color.

I run into problem trying to order one, they will not register a unit until fully paid, I don't think my cousin will put out over 1.34 mil for my unit.
Libre na TINT + leather upholstery. I might get hit by new EVAT law if it will be implemented by next week. DARN!!!

E-VAT does not cover vehicles (they're already covered by the VAT before), so vehicle prices should NOT be affected by E-VAT.

however, some dealers are using the E-VAT excuse as a reason to raise prices,... tsk tsk

Parang ayaw ko na yata bumili, variant EX 4x2 lang tapus hindi pa ABS. Compact SUV na lang yata, same price completo na. Hirap naman magdecide.

Is ABS really that important? I mean, what makes it better than non-ABS ones?

ABS is safer, will stop you sooner w/out skidding or sliding specially in wet condition, it will prevent your brake from locking. Just my personal preference. I have a lot of experince when it comes to sliding, you are helpless, nothing you can do to stop & ABS will prevent that. I live in North America for a long time.

Ano ba yan. One dealer tell me na 4X2 and no ABS ung variant Sorento then dealer from Makati tells me na meron daw 4x4 w/ ABS. If this is the case Sorento parin ako.
I will find out the truth Sept. 10, post ko result.

to all sorrento owners ok ba yung diesel manual? it cost i think 1.3m with body clading foglamp, roof rail. does it have power side mirror? well the base sorrento at 1.188m only has manual control, while 1.230m has power side mirroe but no body clading but has fog lamp and roof rail. one thing stoping me getting kia is there service area it sucks the worst parang bodega lang good only to store vehicles not even adequate to repair even the minor problem. by the way im from cagayan de oro, but ive seen lots of kia sorrento here, i haven't ask owners regarding aftersales support. also hows the ride quality? para ba yang pick up?

nag test drive na ako ng 2.5 crdi matic sorento at impressed ako sa acceleration, ride and handling. kung may third row seat lang, bumili na ako. di ka magsisisi. worldwide, maganda reviews sa sorento, lalo na sa states.
