If you are planning on keeping the vehicle for 7++ years, then resale value should not be an issue.

The price of Sorento diesel has already shot up and is no longer as competitive. Diesel M/t is P 1,095,000.00 and A/T is P 1,195,000.00. Wala kasama iyan. You pay even the LTO reg.

Best value is still the Ford Everest 4 X 2.

But if you need a brand-new mid-size with true off-road capability, nothing can touch the Sorento in the market right now.

Granting most owners won't exploit the full capability of said vehicle, at least its nice to know its there for us lurking in the used-car market and who are not afraid to use such capabilities.

I have yet to meet anyone with a V, a RAV4, and a Sorento. hehehe.

From my experience, the Koreans require roughly the same maintenance (in terms of cost and time) as our Toyota. But I guess the Koreans are still in not at par with the Japanese. They are still more like Ford and GM.

Only difference is parts and service for Koreans are relatively cheap over here. Unlike the premium prices Ford and GM charge (how's Php 30K for an a/c evaporator? A Korean's evaporator cost Php 3,500 the last time I needed one)

    Ford Everest 4x2:
    - 110 bhp / 268 Nm torque
    - 2wd

    Kia Sorento LX
    - 142 bhp / 325 Nm torque
    - 4wd (part-time or full-time) with low-range mode
    > you get all that for just P60K more than the base model Everest.

Yes the diesel makes 142 bhp. The gasoline version makes around 190? Tama ba?

I agree Sorento's engine is more powerful than the Everest.

We have to consider reliability. Everest diesel engine derived from Mazda tested to be reliable, fuel efficient, and madaling i-maintain. Sorento's CRDi is more advance but we are not sure yet about its quality and how much to maintain it. I don't think you would want just any mechanic to touch the CRDi engine. Just ask how much the fuel injectors cost sa CRDi engine ng Isuzu Trooper to get an idea of maintenance costs. Another thing to consider is the mileage. More power nga pero more consumption rin. Mahal na rin diesel ngayon.

kahit mahal ang diesel, u still get bettermileage. may nakausap nga me sa kia, he/she said na once they sell a specific number of sorento na crdi, they will start stocking up on the injectors because it will foul up due to our poor quality diesels. but i think it still is a better deal than the everest. better ride. better looks. can go head to head withe everest sa offroading. kahit pinatubo mo pa.

depende yan how often you use your sorrento. 3 years naman ang warranty. trooper ko, 2 years n 30th km palang, bumara na injectors so chambahan lang talaga.

but... Isuzu & Kia don't share the same CRDi technology. so speculation pa lang if the fuel injectors will be clogged due to our dirty diesel ehre.
