    generic boy & ericm,

thanks for the inputs guys.. had it checked by my suking electrician this morning. turns out the connector of the i.c regulator snapped off. i had the belts tightened a week ago by signet edsa. siguradong sila ang nakasira nuon.

my carnival is also pushing 50,000 kms. maybe i should also have my alternator's carbon brush checked.

    Hi there,

May I know what could probably causing my sliding door to be hard to pull/open? Need to replace the rubber lang ba? I applied wd40 but to no avail. My ride is a Kia Carnival.
    Thanks in advance.

    hinlog,

Kung malinis naman yung rollers, try having the door cable adjusted either at the casa or by a knowledgeable mechanic. In comparison, my driver side sliding door opens almost effortlessly since it is used less often.

After spraying with wd40, wipe clean both upper and lower slide mechanism of the sliding door. Then apply grease on all joints, bearings, that makes the door slide. That's what I did to both doors, and very smooth ang slide niya. But that was last year! This year, pansin ko rough na ang slide niya. 1 year na rin kasi eh!

also, when sliding the doors and you hear a rough sound sa bearings... it means kailangan na linisin ung mga bearings and railings. Madalas dumumi ito kapag humid or pag umuulan and pag dusty ung environment.

May nakita ako nanasira ung door handle... so conting force lang sa pag open when you are outside. Mas madali buksan ang stock sliding door pag nasa loob ka to apply some force.

Also, does it happen most of the time or minsan lang. Kung consistent, maybe the lock mechanism stocks... try to clean and apply grease.

    Hi there,

Thanks Peeps for all your suggestions, I sprayed anew WD40 and wipe clean both upper and lower slide mechanisms of the sliding door and it worked.

Hi, Question, is the Kia Sedona a good car? An agent i met is selling a brand new sedona (not the new 2006 model) for 900+, is it a good buy?

Thread too long to look through as i am a little lazy. hehe.

some like myself consider it as the best decision we've made in purchasing a a car, but there are sometimes different considerations for each person. we were all set to purchase a brand new hyundai starex through a car loan, but after reading throught this thread, i made a big turn around and went eyes closed for a second hand carnival and never looked back since.

my advice, if your're serious about investing almost a million bucks, then there's nothing like getting info first hand BY READING THROUGH THE THREAD. it's probably a 4 hour endeavor but i assure you its worth it for a serious buyer.

just a note, most of those here have a diesel version, i'm just guessing but you may want to find out if the one you're looking at is a gas version since kia phased out the the diesels some time back. gas version has a reputation of being a guzzler.

Why are your tires 205/70r15? My original tires are 215/70r15. Naputukan na ako ng isang gulong, so I got a dunlop but its still as reserve, inuubos ko pa ang original tires ko, but the dunlop is still 215/70r15.

Yup, my original Kumho tires, as well as the Dunlop Le Mans RV and my latest set, Dunlop EC201 are all 215/70R15.

The diesel Sedona is a good family van. Even the last few pages of this thread will give you more info on it.

Mikey, ec201 din ang nabili ko, but its still as reserve tire. How is it? 2nd, my oem battery will be three years old this june, but still kicking, although nag discharge siya at ayaw umandar last week. Ang hirap pala ipush start ang sedona diesel? Ayaw, after 5 pushes. So I removed the 3smf battery from my other car to start the sedona. Bumili ako ng new battery just in case for holy week pero di ko pa kinakabit kasi 1st thing in the morning, start pa rin ulit, kasi if weak na battery mo, early morning start dead na dapat, e nakaka start pa rin. I had the battery tested, and the technician said, may sirang cell na at malapit na daw for replacement. Ang point ko dito is that it means our engine energy start up requirement is very small, maski mahina na battery kaya pa istart. I remember my gen2 paj using a 4d56tdic, dapat malakas parati ang battery. After 1 year, hard starting na. But when I transfer that battery to my fuego, quick start ang fuego.

    altec,

Parang maingay ang Dunlop EC201 sa highway. The steady hum of the tires on the pavement is more noticeable than with the Dunlop Le Mans. Kaso, walang nagbebenta ng Le Mans dito sa nayon namin kaya ayun.

My original battery also died about a year ago. Good thing I was in a grocery parking lot and there were a lot of able-bodied vendors who were willing to give me a push. Na-kadyot ko naman sya sa second try at nag-start yung makina, pero kinailangan ko nang magpalit ng bagong baterya the next morning.

    hello from la union!

my tires are also 215/70/15. still rolling on the lemans rv 501's i bought a year ago.

btw just paid my most expensive repair bill three days ago * signet edsa. bill was 12k. the ff were replaced:

    strut bushing x 2
    a/c idler bearing
    a/c belt
    p/s return hose
    crankshaft pulley

i was complaining of a weird noise when i start it in the morning. culprits were the a/c idler bearing & crankshaft pulley.

    Hi there,

Honestly, I don't have any idea why the tire size is at 205, I recently acquired my Kia
Car and did not bother to use 215 as the previous owner used 205 anyway. What could be the potential problem that I may encounter using 205? I just noticed that at an approximately 30degrees elevation, sumayad na yung bumper ko, nagasgasan pati yung ilalim nito ko, I don't know if I can attribute it to the tire size. Similarly, I would like to know where can I buy the rubber that I can put on top of the rear bumper, prone kasi na magasgasan whenever we unload stuff e. Thanks in advance.

205/70 r15 96T Goodyear Fortera vs 215/70r15 98H Hankook OEM tires. 96 load index max kgs 710kgs, versus 98 load index max kgs 750kgs. If our sedona has a curb weight of 1735 manual tyranny, and 1835 automatic, plus maybe 500kgs load, the 96 load index is still sufficient. Note your target load index should be 20% above the expected maximum car tare or fully loaded weight. Therefore, if manual, 1735 +500 = 2235 divide by 4 assuming each tire carries equal weight, is 558.75kgs per tire, plus 20%, thus a load per tire of 670.5. But with the automatic, load per tire goes up to 700.5. Now if you really load it up to 700kgs, manual tyranny load per tire goes up to 730.5, while automatic goes up to 760.5. In this latest scenario, the 205 load index is only 96 and 710 kgs, although it is still enough without the 20% safety allowance, but really borderline. I really doubt if our car's weight is equally distributed throughout, baka 60/40 pa nga eh.

T speed rating max speed 190kph, H speed rating max speed 210kph.
Of course, the bigger the load index, the better, as long as kaya sa wheel well. I know the sedona is 215, I don't know with the local carnival, which is the predecessor of the local sedona, baka mas maliit ang wheel well, thus requiring a 205 tire instead of a 215 tire. A 205 tire is just thinner width than a 215 tire.
