Had our Carnival serviced at Wheels today..... unfortunately, I did not experience all the good things said here..... .

I got there at 7:30am, I was the very first client, I even came earlier than all the Service Advisors of Kia..... they started to arrive at around 8am, had the Carnival for a General Check-up... The recommendation was done at 11am.

The scope of work were: Change oil, Change Oil Filter, Change Brake Pads, Change Alternator and Aircon Belts, Adjust Parking Brake, Adjust Steering Wheel to Center... I was then advised to come back at 5pm.... I went to work at Marikina and got back 5pm. It wasn't done yet.... I waited and waited till it was past 7pm and I was the only one left. FIRST to arrive and LAST to leave!

Got the car still with finger prints due to grease, anyway, stayed cool and thanked them, got in and drove off ....

Much to my dismay, the steering became hard when turning and may kabig pa sa kanan PLUS when the shifter is at P and shifted downwards to R/N/D ang tigas as if something is going to break, then kung mailipat man sa ibang gear, lalagutok muna....

Seemed like the work was done in haste since it was getting late. And while waiting at around 6pm, the SA kept on telling me that it was being test-driven.... so when I noticed the hard steering and the kabig , I checked the milleage and compared it with the receipt, muka naman di na na-test.

No other way, but have to go back there again tomorrow and have them fix these problems which initially were not there. Hassle talaga, Cainta pa ako.

Hay naku!!!! Any idea what might have caused the hard shifting based on the work done?

alternator belt might be too tight, naninikit, I think that same belt drives your power steering pump also. Ingat lang if it affects the power steering pump, don't drive too much, too much stress may cause further damage on your power steering pump or gearbox.

    Guys FYI,

I can chip tune your Kia Sedona/Carnival 2.9 TDi.
    Gains are 144hp to 174hp! Torque 310NM to 370NM!
    Just IM me if interested.

Went back to Wheels this morning, they fixed the Hard Steering.... but the Shifter was the same. According to the Advisor, the scope of work done yesterday did not involve access to the transmission, and the cause of the Hard Shifting from Park downwards is due to the Transmission Cable which is tout and probably needs adjustment.

    Comments will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

jordan, have you had the a/t fluid drained and refilled yet? my carnival's shifting was just like yours a few months ago. though i haven't experienced the "lagutok", there were times when placing it in drive or reverse was a bit hard. this sympton disappeared after i had the a/t fluid changed. shifting dynamics also improved. btw, i filled up with valvoline's a/t fluid.

diesoline Haven't done that yet, but I asked the Service Advisor if it was possible that it could be due to the ATF, and it needs to be changed, sabi nya, kung ATF daw, hindi daw magkakaganun ung Shifter.

Anyhow, I was also thinking of a change in the ATF before undergoing any repairs.

Will the neighborhood Shell be enough for this procedure?

    Thanks!

does chip tuning also correct the smoke belching tendencies of the noncrdi J3 engines?

Guys, yung steering wheel ko, may TOK sound minsan marinig. No particular left or right turn siya umiingay. Wala ito dati. On my last PMS sa casa, di nila naayos ito kasi di daw lumabas sa road test, and the alignment was ok. This was a month ago. Now, I noticed it more frequent. Any theories?

Same here. Mine started after the rack & pinion mountint bushing was replaced. Apparently, in my case, part of the tie rod end would hit stabilizer link. Sometimes it goes 'TOK' when I make a full turn, sometimes not.

another question. From motioncars.com, our j3 noncrdi engine specs are as follows:

    max output: 135hp/3800rpm
    max torque: 315nm/2000rpm

With two different rpm targets, which one is more beneficial in terms of:

    1. acceleration
    2. fuel economy
    3. other benefits

If 2000rpm for example is the max torque, then anything less than 2K or more than 2K is waste of fuel? If max output is 3800rpm, if we go beyond 3800 rpm, masama na sa makina?

i get the best acceleration when i rev past 2000 rpm. before i managed to rev it * 3800 rpm. tanggal lahat ng carbon sa exhaust pipes. feeling ko parang "gumaan" ang takbo na makina :D

i noticed that 2000 rpm is when the turbo starts to spool up. ganun din ba sa inyo?

jordan, really sorry to hear about your bad experience at wheels. had something similar happen to me in KIA Quezon Ave. sana pinapak mo yung libre nilang kendi at kape para nakaganti ka.

a month after coming from subic and back to slow city driving, my carnival is all smoky again. haaay. rev it up to 3800 rpm? ok lang ba yun? medyo maingay na kasi at 3000. ok lang ba gawin ito at 2nd gear or 3rd gear? (my tranny is manual)

i'm planning to have my first real PMS at 45000 kms or 3800 kms since i bought the unit. i noticed on the service chart that there were different tests done at 40k and 45k. should i ask them to combine the tests for both PMSs? might be pricey, but i don't know if the last owner was conscientious. any advise would be good.

I'll try Kia Marikina, despite all the bad reviews from fellow tsikoteers, at least I can see how things are done and possibly learn a few things or two....

    Hello Guys,

I had my aircon cleaned for the first time after 4+ years 70K kms. My initial complaint is that the coolant leaks after 9 nines of refilling it. When the guy opened the ront and rear evaporators walang butas na nakita. the suspect was the o rings on the fittings. So he changed it and general cleaning na rin ang nang yari. Super lamig na naman ang carnival ko.

I noticed na puwedeng salpacan ng filter an AC ng carnival. May provisions talaga and evaporator housing sa front. As for the rear sabi ng ac guy a maglagay ng filter sa mga air slots sa sode panel passenger side. this way huli lahat ang dust. I show you pictures after I diy screens.

I also heard for the first time the dreaded oil chain problem. It was just the beginning stage so Isasabay ko na sa timing belt.

    tnx

    Bench 1,

The signet las pinas are experts in the manifold cleaning. malinis lahat mura pa. Half day job. So bring it in the morning and then cross the street to SM southmall watch a movie or chill out. Ask them to text you when its done.

    tnx
