Not sure about what the underlying problem is. Have you had your van checked out by an electrician?

    DUNLOP SP SPORT 601

these were the tires i bought to replace my EC201s. i only got them because they're what my friend had in stock last year.

at first, i didn't like the looks of the white stripe but they grew on me. it's a pain to keep them clean though, especially the fronts.

treadwear is better than expected from dunlops. i usually change tires after a year and these particular tires are still have a lot of kilometers left in them. the ones currently installed in the rears still have their shoulder blocks intact after 11 months. that's exceptional for the terrain i drive on.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR, GUYS!

Have been suffering the following for a couple of months:

    1) ABS warning light on - thought it was because the break pads were worn as per previous posts, but they were ok.
    2) high pitched sound when aircon is on, or when turning

I tolerated them, but when it got worse, with intermittent loss of power steering and battery warning light coming on, I had it checked and it turns out the crankshaft pulley needed replacement.

I read through the thread, and this crankshaft pulley seems to be a usual suspect. Thankfully, Goodgear was open yesterday. Crankshaft pulley P1,650. Belt P500, Labor P700.

Hi bro. Happy new year to you as well.

I hope you have time to post a photo of your Carnival with the white sidewall tires installed. I imagine them having an elegant, semi-classic look.

Bro, it's a good thing you were able to detect the problem and have the crankshaft pulley replaced right away. I was one of those that experienced the trouble caused when this part wears out.

I hope Kia has received feedback about this issue and rectified it in the 3rd gen Carnival.

long time no post guys. I hope you guys don't mind that I post here after my very last post where I poured out my anger about the lack of durability of our ride. Though I have kept in touch with Diesoline through text, pareng Diesoline, sad to say, nag pasko ulit ang ride ko sa shop. The new calibrations shop that Kia used refused to release it as their equipment says the choking problem was still there. So my car spent the holidays at the shop. Just like last year. Its been in the shop for most of the year 2008, rather than out. Today, the service advisor texted me that the calibration finally released the pump. They will install it tomorrow and test it. I still don't know what was the cause of it. I really hope its finally settled. Couldn't sell my ride. Who would want to buy it if the problems keeps on coming out? Now, wouldn't sell my ride, as I have to "bawi" what I have spent on repairs. Plus, the resale value of our ride is really bad now.

    sir,

may problem lang ako na experience with my carnival. Minsan pag long drive ako tapos pinatay ko agad ung makina ayaw na niya mag-start. Pag pinahinga mo for mga 30 mins to 1 hour 1 click naman siya. The only way to avoid this is kapag binomba ko ng binomba ung gas bago ko patayin ung makina.

I know how you feel bro. In the past few months I have replaced a crankshaft pulley and an alternator. When I reach 210,000-km perhaps by June, I'll be replacing my timing belt again.

I am resigned to the fact that we will get very little if we sell our van now, so we might just decide to trade it in (at a big loss) at the dealership where we will get our next vehicle, perhaps in 2010.

Still, I am pleased that my Carnival was able to log 200,000-km without any major engine trouble.

Have you had your fuel pump and fuel lines checked?

Sorry sir, I do not know of any good electricians in Metro Manila. Since I live in the province, most of the repairs on my unit have been done here.

    Hi Peeps,

Happy New Year to all; just want to know if anybody already encountered this problem on their parking brake indicator that lit up everytime you press the brake. Is it possible to share what needs to be look into our Kia Car?

Also, how can I remove the fog light on my Kia Car 2001? The mechanic complained that he still needs to bring down the cover under our Kia Car just to remove it, is that true? If not, can you share how to do it? Lastly, Do you know if our fog light is available in any surplus store?

    Thanks in advance:-)

check your brake fluid reservoir, it also indicates you're low in fluid..

fog lights can be removed at the back of the bumper so you the mechanic needs to remove the cover to access the fog lights

this is not a good way to start the new year! i've been trying to sell my carnival last year pero walang buyer, parang they're all waiting for a low price. eto ang clincher, after having an oil change last dec. 31 and after a week of driving... my van conked out in slex... and now according to my mechanic kailangan ibaba yun engine! (

i'm sharing my experience so you guys can anticipate and check this in your van. after the last oil change, i heard a weezing sound when i accelerate, and parang naging hirap yun engine to accelerate. i thought it was just the pesky aircon idle bearing (which i can't find here in las pinas area)...

then last friday, ayun pa uwi from makati, the engine lost its power then a louder weezing sound, and the van seems to gasp for air, with two poofing sound... then i heard something like one of the belts breaking... and it died.

initial findings from my mechanic is that, it's really gasping for air, and the lubrication is not enough (maybe it's eating oil already)...

regular oil change pa'to ng lagay na'to. every 3 months or 5000 km...

ayun kaya d ko na rin mabebenta yun van ng good price or maybe trade it in next year (as somebody suggested here)...

any good idea on how much would and engine overhaul cost?

i change mine by removing the headlight first. i find it more convenient to access the fog light from the top
