But oliver1013 is right, it defeats the purpose of owning an econo car.

There is a higher chances that poor fc is more apparent in the hatchback than in the sedans based on local and international threads. I am still hoping Kia will come out with a fix the same way Hyundai "cured" the all-new Accent fc problem in the past.
hi cyberian guess what after 2 days lang ng mag email ako sa kia.com my casa called me on my cel phone this morning they are asking me if i am free on wednesday dalhin daw sa mismo planta at i-test nila rio5 ko sabi ko ill call back to have my appointment,so mga rio5 owners better send email sa kia.com and address your concern,si allan chua ganito din ginawa kaso di pa yata sya available for the test

yes oliver i agree with you lalo na ngayon tumataas na naman gasolina kaya nga rio5 sub compact car choice ko nun kasi kung check nyo website ng kia australia naka lagay nga don tatlo klase na fuel consumption ang rio5 nila urban nasa 12km/liter,semi urban nasa 15km/liter, at highway 20km/liter,

Hi Rio5 - baka pwede sabay sabay nalang tayo para mas malaman ng kia at Columbia na maraming nagrereklamo. kahit naman siguro iba iba tayo ng casa, walang magiging problema dun dahil lahat naman kia at rio. just a suggestion though... hehehe!

Thanks for the well-wishes on my purchase. Hehe. Sana ma-satisfy ako dito sa Rio

Guys, ano ba talaga ang fuel efficiency ng Rio dito sa manila traffic so far based sa mga naririnig at nababasa ninyo?

Ako kasi, a typical day would be 16km from home to work in the morning (approx. 6:30am - 8am). Moderate to heavy traffic ito most of the way since I'd be coming from the Cainta border of Pasig, going first to Makati via C5-Kalayaan to drop off my wife, then to The Fort via Ayala-McKinley.

And then the same 16km from work to home at night (approx. 6:30pm - 8pm). The Fort to Makati via Buendia flyover, then back to The Fort via Ayala-McKinley, then to Pasig via C5.

Ganyan ako malamang five days a week.

Wishful thinking ba na makaka-9km/L ako? What would be the most realistic estimate?

Clarification: I'll be driving the 1.4 EX AT Sedan variant of the Kia Rio

i believe sedan or HB FC will be similar.. kaya expect your FC at around 6-7km/l city and 8-9kms mixed

    ah okay. thanks sir.

In general po ba, how does this FC of the A/T Rio compare to the FC of other A/T subcompacts like the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, Honda City and Ford Fiesta?

At so far nakukuha ko fc using manual computatio is 7.5-8km/l pero mixed driving ako, about 70 city 30 hway.

But it's still your call in the end

After almost 3 months of asking and observing threads about Rio Hb fc problem, nagdecide pa rin ako kumuha ng Rio Hb. Mga second week of september ko makukuha. I think ill be driving 80% highway, 20% city.
Almost same lng problem sa atin.

And sana naman updated version.hehe

Congrats! We look forward to your positive experience with d Rio5 soon!

In the event your unit comes with the normal acceptable fc for this model, then it would be a positive development and will indeed bring hope to the less fortunate owners of Rio "gas guzzler edition"- that a fix is definitely and realistically coming.

Although hoping not so but should it has the same fc problem, well, welcome to the club mate!

Guys, try stretching your legs for a bit and take a long trip for your break-in....it usually helps the engine adjust into running conditions. Drive nyo lang* speeds 100kmh+ pra adjustment sa vehicle nyo tapos 60-80kmh on your way back home (its the tipid speed limit sa na observe ko driving our 2007 4a/t 2.0 gas carens...i usually drive between 80-130kmh and got an estimate of 13-14kpl driving fro cdo to butuan)...maybe it could help fuel economy... Mas better daw performance nang engines kpag nag lolongdistance every now and then

Maybe they fitted rio5 a/t with hi-speed gears ? They dont pull well driving through high slopes but the run fast in planes, like the old bmw's are fitted with. Slow on the accel but once they get speed its hard slowing down lol

Thanks sir Rio5. But, according po sa inyo sir Rio5, may malaking improvement. And syempre mga driving habits and break-in din daw.

I'm very positive that Kia will address this fc issue. Kya in spite of the problem, kumuha pa rin ako.
