Feeling ko talaga may something sa idle consumption niya... In terms of hatak ng 1.4L sa hatch wala naman prob eh.. hindi naman hirap..
    Sir chua_allan,

I have a 1.4L M/T Sedan and have also noticed that the accelerator is not that sensitive.. Sometimes inaabotan ako na mamatay yung makina sa gitna ng daan from stop to go..
But nevertheless, the engine is quite responsive once you get used of the timing..

So i guess lahat ng 2012 ganyan... tsk tsk... paadjust ko bukas.. dati kasi sa 1st gen sportage namin sensitive yung gas eh.. speaking of 1st gen sportage.. same fc sila ng hatch ko ngayon.. huhu... sana maayos na tong fc problem

You can try doing what I did to our Vios & to a friend's GM City. It's called the relearning procedure. It lessened the evident throttle lag it had due to its DBW system.

Baka yan yung sinasabi nilang CVVT...
CVVT is supposed to improve engine performance and efficiency, which I think doesn't show much in my Rio5. CVVT should exhibit remarkedly engine power when you need it and "relaxes" the engine on cruising and especially during IDLE (like in traffic) to SAVE on fuel. This CVVT technology allows the much bigger '06 Toyota Altis 1.6L to run 19km/L (APP test) or 16.66 (DOE test) on the highway. 10km/L on the city with moderate traffic is possible. The Rio5- a 1.4L 2012 model just can't beat a bigger and older 2006 Altis both in highways and City fc. Never mind the performance aspect, the Altis is much quicker, faster and smoother.

My Rio5 A/T transmission responsiveness is slow and acceleration from 0km/hr is like driving on a CVT. Tsk!

Anyway, my Rio5 looks sporty with excellent ride handling characteristics, also abundant in features and standard accessories than the competing models. Less performance (well, it's only 1.4L) and bad fc (well, it's only 1.4L!) Overall, I'm satisfied.

I can't believe despite all that you can still say, at the end of the day, you're satisfied with a car that's supposed to deliver good FC figures and acceptable performance.

I believe there is really something wrong with the 1.4L Gamma engines that Hyundai and Kia brought in. Be hopeful guys, Hyundai found a fix. Won't be long for Kia to do the same ( i hope )

After all, the engines you have are similar to the Accent's. Which as of the moment, according to the owners' claims, consume an average of 8-10km/L on the city. Give and take that the Rio is much heavier ( i suppose bec. of the 17s vs. 14s of Accent ) the consumption shouldn't be any lesser than 6km/L. At that, it's already abnormal. What if the consumption drops to a whooping 5km/L, then it really gets alarming.

Hope Kia would find a fix. Ganda pa naman Rio HB aesthetically.

Mas magaan yung hatch kaysa sa sedan (1068 kg vs 1170 kg), so says Kia's brochure. It's believable kasi in general naman, hatch bodies are lighter than sedan bodies (Focus, Impreza, Fiesta, etc).

Yung rolling resistance lang siguro ng wider tires yung mas concern, but even then, the 1.4L 108HP Gamma engine shouldn't take too much of a hit since it's a relatively powerful powerplant.

Umaasa ako na makaka 9 km/L sa moderate city driving yung 5-door Rio. Kahit 1.6L Altis kaya yan eh

I'm quite confident that those rio with FC problem needs ECU remapping. The ethanol blended fuel here is making the ECU program go haywire. KIA will not accept that of course unless KIA korea say it so.
search & watch the RIO British Challenge in Youtube. RIO Hatch was driven from Belfast to London in one full fuel tank, that was 797 miles distance.

Assuming a 40L tank (someone correct me if I'm wrong), this amounts to around 32km/L. This is awesome FC.

Guys, I just got a call from my Kia SA informing me the new software update is now available. It was sent by Kia Manila today and unfortunately, service technicians are out of town (Subic) for training and be back by next week pa kaya yong updating ng ECU next week pa possibly Saturday, they need 4-5hrs. of work kasi. This may be it! I am requesting for a detailed report on the fixes and procedures for the benefit of everyone here having the same problem with the fc. Abangan!

British miles ito, di ko alam ko parehas ang distance sa US mile. Iba kasi ang liter per gallon nila compara sa US gallon eh. Maybe somebody can confirm this.

Nope. Jazz has 150mm minimum ground clearance. Rio (both HB and sedan) have 140 mm.
