    Full to full is not as accurate if you use less than ten liters of fuel. The car can store up to an extra liter in the tube, and extra two or three in the tank due to air bubbles. Then ther's the liter or so in the lines and fuel rail, that's there when it's cold and gets dumped back in the tank via the fuel return line when it gets too hot.

    spoke to a friend regarding the Rio's demise in fuel economy. Was told that efficiency should be from the time you get the car should be more efficient than owning th car longer. which actually makes more sense, because once the car is new and fresh the car already had it's short breakin period from the time the car is driven into the ship yard to be delivered and then driven to the showroom.

    As a car gets older it's efficiency would degrade as well as it's horse power due to metal fatigue, wear and tear, etc...

    hi yapoy86 just want to know kung owner ka din ng kia rio5 and kung ano na odometer reading mo? sa manual kasi nakalagay first PMS nya is 7500km or 6months whichever comes first,and we really do hope na mag improve FC ng rio5 kasi dito nakasalalay ang future ng kia rio kung ok ba sya o bagsak sa market,imagine a sub compact car na hatch back with an engine of 1.4L consumes like a ford expidition thanks yapoy86. nasaan na ba si CYBERIAN? please give us update on your rio5

    Both right and wrong. A car is usually broken in by the time you take delivery. Broken-in in the sense that the piston rings have sealed and the assembly is in working order.

    But a car will not fully-break in until at least 10,000 to 20,000 kilometers. Fuel economy should be best from around 20,000 to 60,000 kilometers, after which it will degrade. How bad or how soon it will degrade after depends on how badly you use the car.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    After 25 liters of gas.... 6 km/L pa rin ang mileage ko for my Rio HB.

    I filled up with 37 liters of Caltex Silver yesterday and i will all let you know ano ang magiging resulta.

    Hassle talaga to mas ok pa yung Sorento ko!!!!!!!!!!

    thanks for the insight. how 5-6km/L for a 1.4L engine at 106-107HP is still degrading.

    hi mikmik 316 ano na ba odometer reading mo? sakin nasa 2000km na same pa din fc naglaro lang sa 6-7km/liter city driving wala nga traffic ave. travel ko a day is 25km. yun naka display sa cluster mo na AVE. FUEL ECONOMY, hindi sya accurate,ngayon ang lumalabas sa display ko is 11.8km/100L so nasa 8.6km per liter dapat yan pero pag compute ko manually lalabas 7km lang.kinausap ko na SA ko sa kia alabang about this and i also talked to someone sa columbian,they told me na as long na wala sila makuha na complaints na galing sa mga buyer ng hatchback hindi sila gagalaw.ang proseso pala eh dapat sa casa ka muna mag complain then ipaalam nila sa columbian then kung alarming na numbers ng ganito problema saka nila bigyan ng attention.so try to address your bad fc sa casa mo and report sa kanila every week if possible after every full tank and compute manually

    i don't own a rio, but based on experience from our kia carens and mitsubishi adventure, brand new cars consume more fuel! our mitsubishi adventure consumed 6km/l on its first 5000 kms.. and slowly improving now reaching 10000 kms.. now it consumes 10km/l.. i'm expecting it to improve more on its 15,000 kms... same thing happened to our kia carens...

    although naka "sit-in" na properly yung engine internals... mag smooth pa ang operation nyan and it will reach its peak performance then decline na ulet...

    better adress this case to your casa para malaman nila na hindi lang isa o dalawa kaso ng rio HB ang gas guzzler, so that they will do something about it gaya ng sa hyundai accent before

    Anyone bought rio 2012 sedan 1.4 mt ex? Please share your fuel consumption.Most of the thread that i read here is from HB that is having FC problems. I'm planning to buy one in couple of months. I'm still thinking between Accent 1.4 MT, Picanto 1.2 mt ex and Rio 1.4 mt ex.

    i have a rio sedan 1.4 mt ex and so far my fc was good.
    city = 11-12 km/l
    hiway = 16-18 km/l
    i lived in cagayan de oro and the maximum speed i made so far was 80 kph on hiway.
    go for the rio sedan 1.4 mt if you are really interested.

    i have a ex mt sedan acquired last march 19 here in davao. just filled up again yesterday and my fc is 7km/l city driving and 16km/l hi-way at best effort. except for the fc in city driving, i have no complaints. the rio's engine is more powerful than the current mits lancer ex which has a 1600cc displacement. if fc bothers you, the alto is a champion in fc.

    Mga pre I am already clocking 202 km for the last fill-up and so far mas konti na sa 1/4 yung tank and the trip computer says around 20-25km more before the fuel gauge lights up... Kung titingnan nyo... 6km / liter pa rin lalabas.

    Will give you the final figures within the coming days but so far, Rio HB mileage is really really bad!!!

    Seems like bad FC considering I've driven the FD Civic 1.8L in EDSA only, rush hour traffic for the period of ~3 weeks/1 full tank and FC did not go below 6.5KM/L.

    Kaya siguro naglabas ng 1.4 6 speed manual na may istop ang kia dahil sa bad FC ng 1.4AT..

    Halos lahat bad FC nakukuha. Im averaging 7-8 km/l with mix city and hway but mostly city driving.

    For 1.4 hindi talagang magandang consumption ito.

    Na test drive ko yun kahapon. NOT BAD! Pero nagulat talaga ako sa mga FC ng Rio's ninyo. Sa Fiesta nakaka 10km/L ako city tapos 1.6L pa makina nun... Kaya di talaga ako makapaniwala sa FC ng Kia. Kaya pala when I test drove kahapon tanong ng SA if ano current car ko? Sabi ko Ford Fiesta. Tapos tanong agad kamusta daw FC ng Fiesta. Sabi ko 10km/L sa city, tumahimik sya and di nag boast that the Rio can do better than that...
