2012 kia rio will be out in the market by december 2011 or January 2012 according to the manager of kia greenhills. Columbian motors do have orders from Korea already for the sedan version but no news for the hatchback which I prefer.

Unahin ata nila sedan, since mas prefer ng most Filipino people ang sedan. Probably pag nag hit ang sedan ilabas ang hatch but there is a downside in this model I think it is only available in a 4 speed matic like the accent.

I dont think pinoys prefer the sedan more. Its more like walang choice lang ang mga tao. Look at the fiesta and focus. Mas mabenta ang hatch kesa sedan even if mas mura sedan. Same with mazda 2 and the jazz. Anyways, I hope youre right.. 4-sp matic? Kawawa nanaman tayo dito s pinas. Sa abroad 6-sp na..

According to the kia global website 6 speed automatic is not avaialable for the 1.4 engine. Unless they bring in the 1.6 GDI engine same in the USA which is a 6 speed matic which is impossible hehe. Kia Motors

Fiesta , Focus , mazda 2 is just a small pie in the market for the sub compact category. Vios , city still dominates the sub compact category.Vios still dominates over the yaris and city compared to the jazz. For sure they will still concentrate on volume sales , expect for a stripped down specs just like what they did in the picanto and the accent. I never seen a 1.6 blue accent on the road probably because its too pricey.

I remember when they released the current gen rio, nilabas rin ung hatch version pero its priced higher and A/T lang sya. Kaya siguro walang bumili. I wonder why the hatch seems to be always more expensive than the sedan? Aside from looks, what else could be the reason?

I think it is more of a marketing strategy with regards to price. The yaris is priced cheaper than the vios probably because they cannot compete with the over priced jazz. For the subaru impreza it has the same price with the sedan. When ford 1st released the fiesta the sedan and hatch is priced the same hehe.
