After examining the Thule set and the car door frames, I believed the problems would be minimal because: 1. The Thule set was all rubber lined and coated in the places where it touched the vehicle; 2. The crimping of the rubber door moldings was very small and so the water seepage is small; 3. The molding itself consisted of two lines with a channel in between. The water that seeped through the first line would be caught by the channel and flow down and out with no possibility of penetrating the second rubber line; 4. The set up is specific for the Carens and not an adaptation from another vehicle; 5. Only the AT version have rails and I prefer MT; and 6. I really need a basket to carry stuff. (lol)

May I know what kind of paint the crosswind had? (acrylic, polyurethane,etc...) It may explain why it rusted. thanks again for the input.
Hi, just got my PC back. The crosswind was stock paint, don't know what type of paint though. I remember driving in rain sa NLEX and mag-seep in water sa rear right door.(w/c was where the rust set in). I guess the thule footrack wasnt really designed for the crosswind, it being an asian model unlike the carens being a global model/brand. You can't find crosswind sa thule website.
Anyway bro, happy driving! Just check your doors once in a while.

Check mo tire pressure mo baka matigas masyado. Nung nakuha namin carens maklampag din. Pag check namin tire pressure nasa 42psi. I keep it at 33 now.

Yes! I had it fixed. Pinalitan daw ang mga bushing. Pero ganon pa rin! My tire pressure is 30 - 32.

    THE PRODIGAL SON RETURNS!

Hi guys, its been ages since I logged on. Man, I think around 100 pages of this thread has been added on since the last time I posted anything here!

Anyhow, my Kia Carens is now at roughly 26,000kms and I am very happy to say that I have not had a single problem with the car to date. As for the suspension/ride, I had accepted early on that the ride of this vehicle may not be as smooth as a sedan but I definitely know that its ride is much smoother than the SUVs that I've ridden in.

I was so happy with this that my parents got infected with my love for the car. Just two weeks ago, they bought a 2nd hand 2007 Carens LX A/T and are loving it as well. Although, they still have to bring it to the casa for an overall maintenance check-up.

can you please expound about the "d4d tuloy tuloy ang hatak", wala kasi ako alam pagdating sa AT.

ito ba ay galing sa long even surface tapos nag uphill?

    [let me speculate...]
it maybe that Innova's A/T has better programming / matching with the engine characteristics? or its that lack of power of the smaller displacement Kia 2.0li turbo diesel engine below 2K rpm...? while the 2.5li D4-D has better grunt below 2K RPM, but after that point it doesn't pick-up steam as well as the Kia's CRDi?

    yes yes parang ganon.

ako naman try ko i explain.

ung crv gen1. apak ka lang konte sa gas pedal... pumipikit agad. parang ganon ang D4D. (i've tried hilux m/t. innova a/t. 4tuner a/t. all 2.5L engine)

ung cr gen2. apak ka sa gas pedal. may lag. may delay. parang gagapang muna sya few feet bago hahatak. parang ganon ung carens naten.

now im not saying na mas mahina un carens. im sure pag sa open roads or open hiways don mo makikita true potential ng carens naten.

guys. please comment if you feel the same way or not. i like to know how do u compare ur carens to other cars. thanks.

one thing i've noticed sa carens(a/t) ko is my lag talaga siya once you step on the gas pedal to overtake. siguro mga 1.5 seconds delayed bago tumaas ang rpm. i think this is normal dahil drive by wire ito. hindi cable type young accelerator pedal niya just like old model cars.
