^ The current dmax's design is slowly growing in to me. Probably because bihira lang ako makakita sa daan.

I agree on the things when buying a new car, plus the hassle of being the "guinea pig" if ever Toyota will change the engine. I always read na never buy the first brand new model, always get the MMC'd ones, because its "problems" might be fixed on the mmc. Anyhow, matagal pa naman yun. Still enjoying the dmax.

Ilan ang average fuel consumption niyo? On the dash? Mine went down significantly, before its steady at 10.9kms/l, then went down to 10.3kms/l. I thought na kelangan lang mag change oil (less than 5k), plus new air filters, I cleaned also the maf sensor, hoping it might bring up again to 10.9 kms/l or even better. Lo and behold, mas bumaba pa! It went down to 9.8kms/l. I think it has something to do with the oil. I think its the first time she's using 15w-40. Or maybe not?

My next plan is to clean egr valve, then pag hinde pa nag improve clean the intake manifold, which is a b*tch to remove as per the service manual.

Actually I like the design of the all new Dmax but the front is a little off for me. I prefer the look of ours. Mas matapang ang mukha.

Yes, that is the problem with the all new models, they might have bugs and glitches especially in the engine and too bad for you, you will be the first one to experience them if they come out.

As to the average FC of mine, I think your Dmax and mine are brothers.hehe Ganyan din ang average ko ngayon, sir. Nasa 9.8 to 9.7 kms/liter. That is pure city driving. I tried manual computation, minsan lower than the onboard reading, minsan higher. In fact mas matipid pa nga ung Civic and City namin coz they are averaging 10 to 11 kms/liter. But on the highway, umaabot siya ng 11+ kms/liter. Then pag city ulit, I could see na unti unti siyang bumababa. I don't know what is causing it.

When it was new, nasa 10.9, 11 to almost 12 kms/liter siya kahit sa traffic pa. Ngayon ayaw na niya.

My Dmax is in the dealer now kaso nasira ung reader/scanner nila. Before daw nasira, EGR ang nakita sa findings. Then when they wanted to double check, ayaw na gumana so they have to borrow a scanner from Isuzu Manila then they will advise me.

I am going to get a 2nd opinion for a better solution. Pag talagang palit, I am going to have it blanked. F*ck that EGR. Wala naman gamit yan.hehe

15W/40 din ang gamit ng truck ko, sir. Ayos na ayos na. More than 5k kms na ang natakbo and wala na ung "hiccup" problem. As I had mentioned in my previous posts, I tried Motul pero sumisinok ang tensioner, masyado daw malabnaw. I would have used Delo 400. Nasa 6.2k pesos ata ung 115k km PMS.

Sa fuel naman, Unioil ako palagi. Pag tinatamad akong sadyain, Seaoil. Same FC.

But if I were, I would bring it to the dealership and let them figure it out kung may mali.

I tried to rev it and I asked somebody to look kung nagi emit ng black smoke, wala daw. Very light and close to invisible white smoke lang. I tried to rev it past 3k, meron daw pero sobrang konti lang and nawala din. I am still very confident in using it kahit nakailaw. I am not sure pero baka sa fuel filter ito kasi kakapalinis ko pa lang ng EGR a few months ago so malabo ata na barado na ulit un.
high percentage ng CEL/MIL na walang pagbabago sa performance , the culprit is fuel filter

An update to my post on Oct. 8, sensor daw ng EGR ang nagko cause ng CEL and kailangan ng palitan and it costs almost 20k. More than 700 kms na ata ang natakbo ko ever since it lit up.

I am now thinking of having it blanked.

if they say faulty egr ka na, swerte mo kasi stucked closed ang egr valve mo , wala kang loss of power. kung the other way around(stucked open), loss of power ka niyan

Interesting post Sirs, kung "stuck closed" for ~ 700 kms then it only means that the EGR is really safe to be blank-ed - but hence the CEL. Sir rna800, curious lang, 2014 unit po ba yung sa inyo?

No sir. More than 6 yrs na ang pinagsamahan namin ng Dmax ko. 2008 namin siya nabili and 116k+ kms na ang natakbo niya. Kaya itong pag ilaw ng CEL na ito and the cause is the EGR, parang wala na sa akin. Parang very confident na ako sa 4JJ1 ko na hindi ito titirik, sana, based on my experiences before.

When it first lit up, it was the SCV. They changed it. It cost 8k+. Then it lit up again, it was the EGR. Sabi ni Isuzu Commonwealth kailangan ng palitan and it costs almost 20k.

I think nasa 30k+ kms ang natakbo ko noon na nakailaw ang CEL and the truck never failed me. Never siyang tumirik. I even brought it to our province in La Union, Tagaytay, Quezon, Rizal, etc but never na nag limp or pumugak pugak. Takbo lang ng takbo kahit anong ikarga and kahit saan dalhin. Pero siyempre ramdam ko na medyo mabigat and rough and for sure it was emitting black smoke cause I had to press the gas pedal a little harder to propel the truck.

Thank God for Tsikot because I read na pwede palang linisin and a shop name that popped up was Central Diesel. I had it cleaned there, nasa 4k ata un, cleaning and scanning. Imagine 4k compared to 20k for a new EGR valve.

After 30k+ kms ata, umilaw nanaman. Good thing I have a friend who does cleaning. So I brought it to him. 1k lang ang charge niya. It was last July or Aug I think.

Now it lit up again. So now I am thinking na ipa blank nalang.

this is how egr system works(generally/similarly)

montero sport egr valve - YouTube

on low rpms/idle , egr valve is open.
as soon as you step on the pedal, it will close(when power is needed).

when will a CEL be triggered?
when your system is not blanked, carbon deposit builds up on your egr valve. when the ecu commands the egr valve to close or open, and the egr valve cannot comply because too much carbon deposits , 100 percent , CEL .
prolong your egr valve's life by blanking the system. in some autos, there is an actual sensor to detect the the presence of exhaust gas, dun natin kelangan hindi full blank, but on our rigs, there is no such sensors, kaya full blank is possible.

5 digits ung akin, sir. Yes kailangan yang key code kaya wag daw iwawala. Ganyan din ang sinabi sa akin ng SA ko noon before he handed me the keys.

Yes sir, Central Diesel is the one beside Capitol Medical.

Halos naging diary ko na itong Dmax thread from the time I got my truck.hehe Kaya kung may mga problems kayo sa truck niyo, basahin niyo lang ung mga posts ko way back, baka na experienced ko na din.

*Djerms: Sulit na sulit talaga, sir. True workhorse.

    Hi guy!

Do you recommend any shop that specializes into power window etc.

Just this afternoon, nung binuksan yung rear right window, I heard a loud *blag* sound. I thought nakasagi ako while backing out from our garage, pero all clear naman. Then ayaw na bumaba, nor umakyat, then upon checking motor seemed to work, but the cable got derailed from its track, at nagka buhol buhol na yung cable sa motor. So naka tape nalang muna para lang maisara yung window. Hassle lang, at gastos na naman. Hahahah.

    Thanks sa inputs.

    Cabin Noise Vs. Hilux

    Hello,

Is there any owner of the DMAX who also has experience driving the Toyota Hilux for a period of time? Is the cabin noise better on the Hilux?

My wife test drove the new DMAX and she said it is quite noisy. I have to test it myself in a couple of weeks time.

Reason for the question is we are looking between the 2 models:

Hilux = reputation for reliability, spare parts availability
DMAX = Superior fuel consumption, Diesel engine heritage

Really torn between the two. If anyone has experienced driving both, I'd very much appreciate any input.

    Thanks!

After more than 1,700 kms that my MIL is showing on my dash, for some very weird reason, it just disappeared. I just went out then when I left, napansin ko wala na and the engine felt smoother again.

Wala naman akong ginawa. In fact I am just turning a blind eye on it already. It had already traveled more than 100 kms and it has never lit up again. Hopefully wala na.

I am going to the southermost tip of Batangas and go up to Tagaytay this weekend and I am going to use the truck, let's see how it holds up. Mga nasa 400+ kms din un siguro back and forth.
