mga pre, has anyone replaced their brake calipers to aftermarket ones??? those bigger and more ooommmpphhh sa braking power.., since i uprgraded the rims and tire combo to a bigger one... braking is kinda slow and how much did it cost and what brand?
havent tried it pa. but what im hearing about others is that bendix is a good brand for brake pads and brembo is definitely a brand you cant go wrong if were talking bout calipers/brake system. medyo mahal lang daw.hehe..i upgraded the size of my tires to 265/75/r16 pero nagpalit lang ako ng brake pads na isuzu genuine pa din. wala naman pagbabago. ok din naman sya.
maybe others can comment on this matter..![]()
My 2004 4X2 LS power windows is giving me problems. The casa fixes it and then a few weeks later the front windows - passenager and driver, give me problems again. The passenger side just refuses to go up and down. (I can still hear the motor make a "clicking" noise when I press the button.) While the driver side needs to be pushed down and then works again. Is it time to get a new motor? Anybody has suggestions? Thanks in Advance.
Sir Benz, may nabibili na bang ganyan na grill sir na puede ipalit sa current model?
Yeah, that 4JJ1-TCX engine may not be issued after all to us![]()
....As years went by since it was released in 2006 (and in late 2007, we've been given instead the old 2004 model 4JJ1-TC), our hopes that this 4JJ1-TCX will be issued sooner to us Pinoys became hopelessness by 2011, and by now as 2012 is fast nearing, the way i describe it is more of despair, or even worse, apathy.
The last straw of hope was the recent official announcement of Isuzu Phils. that it cannot guarantee when will the 2012 DMax RT-50 be issued here citing unbelievably-conceived reasons like the right-hand steering conversion to left-hand steering, and the tip-top conditioning of the new RT-50 to run best in Philippine-road conditions (c'mon it's just a tweaked-out and improved 4JJ1-TCX engine, where the reason though may actually lies GULP!!!!).... Everyone would certainly think that neither the 4JJ1-TCX DMax iTEQ VGS nor the RT-50 will come to the Philippines because both pickups share the same basic engine platform, only that the RT-50's engine is an improved or tweaked-out version hehe
Anyone who is in his right mind would not buy of course that crap put-up by Isuzu Motors haha!Certainly, not when all of us knew that Isuzu Motors had been selling cars here since the early 70's (or perhaps even earlier than that) during the Isuzu Gemini era.... Does Isuzu Japan meant to say that up until now it hasn't mustered it's way through the Philippine-theatre of commercial cars?
Nonetheless, to keep ones love for the local DMax fleeting upbeat, one way to do this is to somehow mimic, by seat-of-pants feel, the 4JJ1-TCX's power thru the installation of a diesel-EFi tuning kit onto the current 4JJ1-TC, like the Racechip Pro i've got. i said this because you know for a fact that i've driven this 4JJ1-TCX Mr. Hood Scoop when i was stationed in Spain from 2008 to early 2010, and the DMax iTEQ VGS Turbo was one of our daily 4x4 utilities alongside Nissan Navara's and Toyota Hilux's.
At the current setting of B-E clicks with the Racechip Pro, it still lacks the punch i used to feel from the stock 4JJ1-TCX. B is the power cut-off distribution dial along the rev-range or the extent of the OOOOMPH along the rev-range while E is the power-increment dial responsible in upping the power. Also, all i know now that at my current B-E setting my wheel-hp is somewhere 140 bhp and my torque is only at 304 Nm. It's still a long-shot to mimic the 360 Nm torque from the 4JJ1-TCX engine.
Perhaps, i may have to go as high as B-0 (zero) or B-1, or i may even have to distribute further-out my power distribution cut-off to 0 or 1 finally giving me a setting of 0-0, or 0-1, or 1-1 or could even be 1-2, or even greater than just to mimic the 4JJ1-TCX's power, granting my engine doesn't experience limp mode hehe. But, i see some LIGHT with this approach, or HOPE hehe ;)
Let's see how the old 4JJ1-TC engine fair with 1st-stage intake mod
sir, it might be your pulley for the power windows... kung 1st gen dmax yan.. thats the usual prob... plastic kc ang ginagamit nyan kaya madali lang masira or mag loosthread yun pulley... have a machine shop made a square bushing insert for it alng.. sa driver side mo naman.. haev the carbon brush repalced... yun lng sira nyan..
Ayaw ko nang umasa sa ISUZU.. Dmax VGS man o RT-50.. Maniniwala na lang ako kapag nandyan na.. Nakakadismaya.. Hahayzzz.. Parang ginawa naman nila tayong tanga sa mga rason nila..
True to the bone!
Isuzu Motors is THE ONLY Japanese car manufacturing company that BELITTLES Filipinos. The company can be likened to Imperial Japan during its seclusion era and until prior to its MacArthurian constitutional transformation. Well, it's the oldest Japanese automotive company, established in 1916.
All the others namely, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Subaru are, or have long since transformed to the modern-day Japan ---- they give to Filipinos what they generally offer to other countries, the latest and the best.
After 3 years and 3 months and 57,880 kms, my 08 Dmax 4x2 M/T LS DDI Iteq has experienced the appearance of the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) or also known as Check Engine Light. Last night I noticed that the engine is kinda limping and I had to press the gas pedal a bit harder to go faster. It felt like it was hesitating to go faster or accelerate. Then when I got home and parking the car, it suddenly jerked as if the engine restarted then voila, the MIL is there. I checked this morning and the light was still there but it was gone when I was on my way to the dealer.
I talked to my SA and he said they will check it in the computer and it's possible that they will replace the SCV depending on the result of the test. EGR might go in the picture too. I am still waiting for their call. I only gas up at Shell and there are only 3 stations or locations that I go. I don't use the V Power as well. I guess no matter how careful we are, it would just take time before those parts would finally conk out due to our dirty fuel.
One more thing, I noticed that the fuel needle doesn't want to go all the way up the very top of the "Full" line. It is always resting below that first line by a hair. I don't understand why. At first I thought it wouldn't go all the way up coz I just round off the total each time I gas up. But after almost a month of observation, after gassing up at my 3 most trusted Shell stations and after requesting it to fill it to the brim, the result is still the same. It just won't go beyond that line.
Regardless, those for me are just simple problems and I still love my Dmax. I just love how it performs.
*hinDMaxsiado: I read your post regarding how you love to drive your hinDMax with that race chip. I wonder how it really feels to drive with that thing in it. Imagine, I already love driving my all stock hinDdi Iteq hehe, how much more if I will add more oommmpphh in it.
The 2012 All New Dmax for me is just ok. I don't know but there is something in the exterior design that doesn't grow on me although the interior is really stylish and futuristic. I still prefer the current look which is mean and more macho. I might go with Ford's design but who knows, it might look better in the flesh. The only question is when since after reading an article in Top Gear Philippines, it seems that Isuzu is still figuring out how to make that new truck perform in tip top shape in the Philippine setting. I wonder what's so special in this truck that is taking too long for them to figure out? Oh well...
Try caltex diesel with TEHCRON, its the fuel that Isuzu use in their test fuel efficiency drives..maybe naging pabaya ang mga taga-shell kaya cguro madaling dumumi ang diesel nila. Sana boss walang masyadong problema after nyo ipagawa. Update nyo kami sir what happenned so that other guys here may have the same issue na na-experience nyo.![]()
Haha! Baka hindi din
Your 2008 DMax 4x2 is just the same sir as my 2008, only that mine is now on its 65k odo.
Suggest that you take advantage of the current Philippine-DMax's being diesel CRDi. The PhP24k you pay for the Racechip Pro diesel EFi tuning kit is all worth it sir ;) ....The Philippine DMax is detuned bigtime for a 3.0-litre engine. You may think the power from it's current state is alrady more than enough for your liking but that is NOT how a 3.0-litre CRDi should be.... Wake that up by plugging a chip for starter....
If you're having a limp mode, just turn-off your engine and then turn it on again ---- DO NOT force to drive it while experiencing it, ONLY when you have re-started it that you continue. i haven't had any of it yet as far as my DDi-iTEQ is concerned, and hoping that i won't have it as i aim to increase more my clicks with the Racechip Pro hehe :D
Have your DMax checked. Goodluck and keep us posted sir....
The 3.2-litre penta-cylinder Ford Ranger SHOULD BE the best pickup coming in Philippines this 2012. Aside from the engine that you'd expect to be running smoother than any straight-4's with balancing shafts like the DMax and the others; since it's a straight penta with crank throws at 72-degree each, thus smoother than the 90-degree throws from the straight 4's, the Euro NCAP safety rating for this truck is first of its kind, a perfect 5-star safety rating ;)
Besides who does not like 200 ps and 470 Nm torque from a stock engine?
Given how dirty our diesel here, I guess it's really just a matter of time before the SCV of any engine, especially diesel, would require replacing or cleaning. The only question is when. Ever since we had been using Shell and I think I'll just stick with that. Plus the accessibility is easier since along Commonwealth Ave, there are quite a number of Shell stations.
After bringing my truck to the dealer this morning, the SA called me after lunch and told me it was done. As he suspected, the test showed that the SCV had a problem. They replaced the SCV and it cost me 7,800+ and that's parts and labor. The EGR is still ok, thank God, coz it's more expensive. The truck is running smoothly and without hesitation again. If there is any consolation, at least it didn't happen within its 3 year period, even if I wasn't able to avail of the warranty, coz it would leave us an impression that what kind of car that its SCV needs to be replaced while its still new. And 57k+ kilometers before it had that problem, we could say that it had ran quite a distance already. Fingers crossed that it will not recur anytime soon.
For the fuel needle not going above the "Full" line, they said that they need to bring down the fuel tank and inspect the so-called "floater" since that is what they suspect causing it. The cost of having it repaired? A whopping 20k+. Whew! I ask what will happen if I will not have it fixed, the SA said it will not cause any serious problems, it's just that it will not go beyond that Full line and for as long as it is still working and the kilometer reading corresponds with what I suppose to get with that full tank, then it's fine. Otherwise, we have no choice but to have it fixed. Well I will just leave it that way for the meantime.
Wow. Good for you that your truck reached 65k kms without experiencing that SCV problem.
I am definitely considering that chip but I wanna experience its "virginity" and "purity" more.hehe Maybe a couple of years more when it gets a bit older and already "de-virginized."hehe
I don't have any clue about those "penta" but all I know is that 200 ps and 470 Nm torque sound really yummy! Just the sound of it makes your drool. Let's just wait and see when those horses arrive on our shores to have a better decision on what to get. I wanna see an all new Everest and Alterra as well. The same with that Chevy Colorado. I can't wait for next year. I just wish there is an M/T in all variants. As much as I love A/Ts, for me nothing beats the feeling of driving an M/T.
Pinapalit ko sa casa sir ang suction valve just before my 3-year warranty expired. Pinasadya ko talaga sa mga kaibigan sa Isuzu na palitan na ---- the 2009 and up DMax Ddi-iTEQ are provided with bigger suction valve. Maliit ang mga nasa modelo natin sir, 2007 to 2008 Ddi-iTEQ ;)
Straight penta, simply means straight 5-cylinder; and because the pistons are connected directy to the crankshaft that is rotating, divide 360-deg by 5 throws, you get 72-degree throws for each piston. Here, you can already see that the new Ranger runs way smoother than its competitors. With the straight-4 (inline 4-cylinder just like the DMax, Hilux, Strada, Nissan etc), you a wider apart get 90-degree throws for each piston. To balance the crank, straight-4's are using two balancing shafts, which again are powered up by the engine, thus part of the engine power is eaten away by those balancing shafts rotating almost or twice the rate of the crankshaft.
Volvo is the only other manufacturer that builds straight pentas, for its marine motors, and they are highly regarded for their smoothness.
The only other straight configuration engine that beats the straight penta in terms of smoothness is the straight-6 cylinder ---- Remember the saying you haven't driven UNTIL you've driven a straight-6? That's how smooth they are, and BMW used to build them ;)
