Madalas EGR or SCV ang culprit..

    Hello,

Is there any owner of the DMAX who also has experience driving the Toyota Hilux for a period of time? Is the cabin noise better on the Hilux?

My wife test drove the new DMAX and she said it is quite noisy. I have to test it myself in a couple of weeks time.

Reason for the question is we are looking between the 2 models:

Hilux = reputation for reliability, spare parts availability
DMAX = Superior fuel consumption, Diesel engine heritage

Really torn between the two. If anyone has experienced driving both, I'd very much appreciate any input.

    Thanks!
Tahimik ang Hilux compared sa Dmax but I prefer the power distribution of Dmax compared to Hilux..

ChoyJo- Are you comparing both the 3.0? Or the 2.5 for the Hilux?

Really interested kasi in buying the new Hilux, if it will be released early next year Jan-Mar. But also looking at the new Dmax. Its a 50/50 love affair. Hahahah

Good day every one. Had my 2014 dmax ls at 4x2 for a week now. Initial observation is that engine is quite nosier compared to other diesel engines. Also outside noise is more louder compared to a monty. Suspension ride is nice, it just drive to rough roads and no roads at all. I was able to drive it in Aklan province covering all the towns in that area.
Heading back to Iloilo, after clocking 1k kms in the odo, I encountered another bnew ranger not sure if it 3.2 or 2.2, but the hell he is surely very fast. Iam doing a 120kph to 130kph in straight roads and 70 to 90kph in curved roads but he was still tailing me. So to release the preasure from me i let him pass then i tried to tail him. Boy he is really one hell of a speedy driver.
I will surely replace my stock to tires to 265 width, nag skid ang 245 sa curves e.

Both 4x4 Sir.. 3.0 Dmax and 3.0 Hilux..

Thanks. How about the power distribution? You said you like the Dmax's power distribution compared sa Hilux.

*tisoy555: Good to know that you are enjoying your truck.

Engine on the Dmax is really noisier due to the timing gear. It even vibrates more. That's the trade off when you don't use timing belt.

Of course the Ranger will be faster on straight roads coz its specs are higher regardless if it's 2.2L or 3.2L. But when the road starts to climb and become winding, that's where you will feel the power distribution within the gears and the torque coz it's not about top speed anymore. The max torque on the Dmax starts at 1400 rpm and it will be same until 3200 rpm. Anlawak ng torque range niya that's why you can tail him too on uphill roads and hindi ka niya maiiwanan not unless the driver is so reckless.

Tnx for the reply sir rna800. Yup i really enjoying this rig. Coming fron a nissan frontier, the dmax is really fun and relaxing to drive.

Scheduled for my 1st pms after clocking 1.6kms, after i had this unit for 2 wks. isuzu iloilo quoted me for the materials around 6.3k

A had passengers commented that the ride of the dmax is more softer compared from a monty and hilux, after traveling with them on rough roads here. Is this really true? I had drove my mos new monty, but only in the busy streets in mla, so no chance of experience on rough roads.

*tisoy555: Coming from the Frontier, for sure you will immediately feel the difference even if you are blindfolded.hehe Commonrail diesel engine runs way better & smoother.

I haven't ridden in the all new Dmax but I have the older brother with a meaner look.hehe

With mine, unladen on city streets, it's really bumpy and stiff. On the other side, load it and it just follows the contour of the road. Also, the beauty of the stiff ride is you can run through potholes, cracks as if they are non existent. Shocks, stabilizer links, engine support in mine are still the original considering they are more than 6 yrs old and the truck has clocked more than 117k kms. But the bushings on the rear have been replaced 2x already. Telltale sign is when you the shake the bed, it squeaks.

I have ridden in my uncle's Montero, 2009 4x4 GLS SE, a lot of times. I find the Montero's ride better and softer regardless on where I sat.

Badtrip. 1 month old pa lng ito inot kp.

Gudpm sirs. i would like to get your piece of advice. I own a brand new dmax LT. What is the maximum tire dimensions that I can install without changing my current rim size (15) and without lifting the body. parang manipis and lapad po kasi ang stock na tire. Thanks a lot

Having my rear brakes serviced at shell station. Need replace brake shoes surprised they will provide bendix brake shoe. Its pricey (2k ++) versus previous replacements ko na rico brand. According to catalog Bs5010 ang model. Sana pareho at genuine ibigay.

anyways im not blaming anyone. iniwan ko talaga duon sasakyan to take care of other matters.

for non-crdi dmax dapat talaga BS5010 ang rear brake shoes like the catalog indicates.
