at manaoag if you happen to be caught there at lunch time and hate going to the usual mang inasal/chow king/jollibee/mcdo, there is this small chinese "sea food" restaurant just to the right of the manaoag church exit (repeat, exit, not entrance, so turn right when you exit the church compound), less than 50 meters away. mura lang. a crispy pata that sells for P450 in MM is only P280 yata dun. lagi kami busog dun and for less than 1.5K. the only time na umaabot kami ng 2k e pag natripan namin kumain ng cornetto. also, pag walang parking sa church, just park your car there instead of paying for parking at the paid parking lots. just tell the owner you will be back for lunch. he'll be glad to offer you free parking in exchange for the business. di ka pa maglalakad ng malayo from the parking.
Since weekday ka naman pupunta sa Manaoag, bro.IMm29, paniguradong maraming parada sa loob ng compound ng Manaoag Church.

I'll try your recommended restaurant next time, bro.yebo.... When we there some 6 or 7 months ago, we ate lunch at Matutina in Urdaneta on our way back to Manila,- masarap ang kanilang boneless bangus....

The second time we were there this year, some 2 months ago, we ate lunch at a very crowded (and humid) Mang Inasal...

And would the 3rd stop light at Urdaneta be the Urdaneta-Manaoag road, leading to the shrine?

Sorry for too many Qs, decided to google it and found those routes.

    Thanks.
Yes, bro. Just go straight and it will lead you directly to Manaoag Church.

One caution here,- just before reaching the church, somebody might stop you telling you that there is an ongoing church activity and will request you to divert to your left. IGNORE this/these person/s. Encountered this scenario on both occasions I was there this year. Nangra-raket lang ito. Just continue driving straight to the church.

I'll let bro.yebo respond to your Magilas trail question. Hindi ko ma-gets e. Although I've been using the Magilas trail everytime I travel to Baguio.

    .
I suggest you go further than Lingayen and try Alaminos this time bro. Hundred Islands is one of the better places that I've visited here in our country. Enjoy rin ang mga bata dahil they got to choose their own island... The tour is also (pleasantly) organized....

I actually enjoyed Hundred Islands better than Bolinao....

Thanks for the tips, bro CVT. "Kesyo puno na ang parking, park ka na lang dito sa akin" raket, eh? Tsk tsk!

    This is what I meant:

Ignore the part from the start marker going back down to SCTEX. Hehehe!

at the pura-guimba-gerona-ramos intersection (the one with the tree in the middle, left goes to gerona, right goes to guimba, straight goes to ramos), drive straight to ramos. then turn right at anao-paniqui road, turn left at moncada-anao road and you'll hit macarthur.

actually there is a minor road at moncada-anao road and when you exit from there you will just be a few kilometers from carmen, by-passing moncada entirely. but i can't see it in the map, minor rod lang talaga yun, passed there once only (my GPS led me through it, set to shortest route hehehe).

yes, the urdaneta manaoag road leads you straight to manaoag. you will enter manaoag via the one-way bridge (may harang yung left lane), then after 3 or more blocks you tun right towards the church. dun yun sa sinasabi ni cvt na may nagtatawag na "parking parking boss!". pero as cvt said racket lang yun, just go straight and you will be at the back of the church. 2 left turns and you will be at the church compound entrance.

may nagtitinda ng mangga on the left curve before reaching manaoag, under the manggo trees there. don't buy per basket, maliliit yung nasa ilalim. buy per kilo para mapili mo yung mangga.

SCTEX to Manaoag via Magilas - Google Maps

Got it bro.,- you could do that...

Normally, Luisita exit ako and then McArthur Hiway na up to Urdaneta, especially if traveling on weekdays.

    Hindi siya heavy traffic.

(From Luisita to Manaoag on the above route is about 1.5 hours, based on my 2 trips this year)

To the CRDi guys, do you experience rear wheel spin if you stomp on (i.e. floor, not feather) the gas pedal when accelerating from stop and the road is the least bit damp?

Yeah, i also experience that thing. Lalo kapag naka Sportronic Mode, kapag naka 1st gear pa lang. Kaya minsan pag medyo damp ang road i use the Sportronic and put it in 2nd gear.

    Hey guys,

Any ideas on how much rear brake pads are for the GS?

I had my 18s changed back to stock 16s (and a stud replaced coz it was broken by casa) for the Baguio trip when the technician noticed that my pads were close to reaching the metal wear indicator. Buti na lang napansin, coz nakalusot ito nung nagpatingin ako sa Caltex. Tsk tsk! Wala kasi yung usual kong mekaniko. Just a tad past the 14t km mark. Too much heavy braking hehehe!
