ok naman ang road to manaoag bossing. i suggest after sctex, turn right to la paz, then follow the magilas trail until you get to the pura crossroad. then just go straight to ramos (instead of turning right to guimba), staight to anao (but do not turn right to anao, instead turn left to macarthur) and exit to macarthur at santo tomas. shorter route than going to carmen. then all the way to carmen-villasis-urdaneta. at urdaneta turn left at the 3rd stop light (the intersection where you have the Norkis Yamaha dealership on the left opposite corner). that road leads straight to manaoag, about 20 minutes drive away. then from manaoag to baguio the shortest route is through pozorubio.
that will be a good 700 km run manila-manaoag-baguio-manila. even if you go around baguio city for a week you won't clock 1000 km, pag baik mo na lang pa-service.

Bro.,- IMO,- huwag mo nang ipa-PMS. Pagbalik mo na lang galing Baguio. Just go for a quick check of fluids, lights, et al... You recently changed brake pads, right?.. You should be green and go.
Maganda ang road from MM to Manaoag. I have been there twice last year... The last one was about 2 months ago, using our GS on both occasions.
There are a couple of rough patches along the way,- siguro about 20 meters each,- pero manageable. IIRC, sa town ng San Manuel at Moncada, both in Tarlac.
I suggest that you turn left on the third(sabi ni bro. yebo) traffic light (and it is the last traffic light) in Urdaneta as it is a shorter route to Manaoag Church (and less traffic), vs. proceeding along McArthur Hiway and turning left at Binalonan....
On the way to Baguio,- you can take the road going to Binalonan,- but be aware of the fork on the road a few kilometers before hitting the intersection with McArthur Hiway,- take the left one going to Pozzorubio/Sison going to Baguio.... The road should be very good from that point on... I have not been to Baguio for the last 1.5 years though, but was at the fork in the road (2 months ago)...
Safe trip bro. Buy a lot of strawberries, cauliflowers and broccoli flowers..... Mura lang diyan....

Very important bro.,- that is why I am posting this separately... Be wary of SCTEX personnel with radar guns... On both occasions, when I was there last year, they were positioned a few kilometers before Luisita exit... I wasn't lucky the first time and have to churn out >P1K and spend/endure more than half a day of wasted time at LTO QC...

^^^ Iyan ang malaki kong pagkakamali,- nakabuntot kasi ako sa isang Previa at isang Forester, and the 3 of us were doing a little less than 160KPH....
Pero, ang pickup truck ay hindi nakaparada ng road level, ha? Medyo malalim ang parada nito na kita mo lang halos ang bubong, sa tabi ng kalye sa ilalim ng isang pedestrian(?) overpass.... It was past 8AM that day...

January 7th, 2013 02:57 PM #3896HI Bros!
I just called Hancars kanina regarding sa 10k PMS ko
Eto gagawin:
Change Oil
Change Air filter
Tire rotation.
i ccheck pa daw kung papalitan na rin daw aircon filter.
i opted to bring engine oil na lang, pati na rin siguro air at oil filter.
Ganyan din ba ginawa sa GS niyo during 10k PMS?

Thanks yebo and CVT. Let me internalize that route and propose it to the missus. I think it would also depend on the kids and our pace of travel, whether we head straight for Baguio via Magilas, or take a detour and go for Manaoag. I personally would like to go to Manaoag though.
Last time I was on SCTEX was last April, and it was headed for Subic. Was mainly going at 100 kph +/- 10 kph lang. Top was a burst to 140 kph, and then I slowed down coz the trailing car, a Kia Sedona, couldn't keep pace. When I took SCTEX headed in the Tarlac direction, it was in convoy with my Dad's gas Innova. We were doing a steady 180 kph for a while. Thankfully no cops then. No chance I'll be doing that soon. Hehehe!
Went to Caltex over lunch for a quick brake check. Brake Pads were still good. Oil was ok. Did a little blowing out of the air filter with compressed air. Thought I was asking for an oil change. I told them pagbalik na lang from Baguio. Was tempted to try the Delo 400 on the spot though. Maybe I'll just get that oil naman for my next PMS.
*jaggerx,
Ok yan if Hancars will allow you to bring all the parts, just charge you labor, and still keep your warranty intact. HARI will charge corkage on the oil and the parts, and then "threaten" you about indicating that you used your own oil in the warranty booklet.Last edited by IMm29; January 7th, 2013 at 04:27 PM.

we will also be going to manaoag for our 4-monthly trip there on possibly last weekend of jan or first weekend of feb. then san fabian or la union. or maybe turn south to lingayen, never been there.
at manaoag if you happen to be caught there at lunch time and hate going to the usual mang inasal/chow king/jollibee/mcdo, there is this small chinese "sea food" restaurant just to the right of the manaoag church exit (repeat, exit, not entrance, so turn right when you exit the church compound), less than 50 meters away. mura lang. a crispy pata that sells for P450 in MM is only P280 yata dun. lagi kami busog dun and for less than 1.5K. the only time na umaabot kami ng 2k e pag natripan namin kumain ng cornetto. also, pag walang parking sa church, just park your car there instead of paying for parking at the paid parking lots. just tell the owner you will be back for lunch. he'll be glad to offer you free parking in exchange for the business. di ka pa maglalakad ng malayo from the parking.

Bro yebo,
"Straight to Ramos" and "Straight to Anao" would mean cutting thru and past Ramos town all the way to Paniqui-Anao road in Sta Ines, turning right heading for the Moncada-Anao road, and then left to get to the Bamban bridge/MacArthur highway?
And would the 3rd stop light at Urdaneta be the Urdaneta-Manaoag road, leading to the shrine?
Sorry for too many Qs, decided to google it and found those routes.
Thanks.
A 70/30 water to coolant mix may improve cooling efficiency but that's at the cost of less...
Coolant...
