My civic sometimes fails to start. When i push the start button it attempts to start then loses all electric power. I thought the battery died (weird because the car was a few months old when this started happening). Then i discovered that if i lightly tapped the battery + with a metal object like my keyring, the power goes back to normal and the car is fine. Sometimes i wait a few minutes and it goes back to normal even if i don't do anything. Lately this has been happening often. Any thoughts before i bring it back to honda?

it appears, your battery connections are poor.
disconnect the battery terminals and clean them, po.
    they re-attach and tighten "adequately".
    good luck, po.

Pacheck mo na lang sa honda yan, since naka warranty ka pa naman siguro. Just to be safe, pero more likely baka madumi lang battery connection.

I followed your advice. I'll be observing it for the meantime. Thanks!

1.5RS is the way to go. Nababagalan ako sa 1.8 R18. Since the FD days yan na ang gamit na makina. Bought both the 8th and 9th gen with the R20. Sana ang niretain nalang nila for the base model was the R20.

Layo ng performance vs the 1.5Turbo ng R18. But for engine longevity mas ok non turbo.

That's what they did for the US market. The Philippine market is different with poorer buyers and much heavier traffic. The Civic wouldn't be as successful if it had a 1.2M base price like the 2-liter FB/FD.

The RS offers 86-level performance with the practicality of a 4-door sedan. The performance difference is bigger than the 30hp gap on paper suggests since acceleration difference from 0-100 is over 2 seconds. Thing is, not many people actually maximize the performance of their cars.

Also, the 1.8 Civic is no slouch. With a 10-sec 0-100 time and a top speed of over 200 kph, it's still faster than most PPVs and crossovers. The CVT is boring but it allows for quicker acceleration especially on the top end.

Hi sirs! May nakapagtry na ba sainyo maginstall ng android apps sa Entertainment Unit ng civic? Tinitignan ko kasi yung mga options and meron dun na install apps from APK.

Also, pano ba papaganahin yung Android Auto and Apple Car play. I plugged in my iOS and Android phone, pero di sya nagmimirror. I think I'm missing something.

    Thank you sa sasagot.

For Android Auto, you have to install the app on your phone. The unfortunate thing is that you won't find it in the Play Store because it is not officially supported in our country. The workaround is to download the APK from APKMirror and install it manually to your phone.

Test driven both RS and 1.8E over the weekend, it seems road noise is quite annoying on Civic, is there a remedy for this? Overall I liked it!
Though the road noise and gear shifts is very uncomfortable. Medyo nahilo ako or maybe hindi lang ako sanay. Paddle shifters would be great for 1.8E for safety feature tho. I would rely on engine braking / gear shift for a sudden brake support.

Yes, change your tires. The stock Hankooks are quite noisy. I used them yesterday for a track day and they were much noisier than the Kumhos I have on my other set of wheels.

As for the CVT, it's far smoother than any transmission I've ever used. Most people who've ridden with me comment that the Civic is so smooth that they don't notice that we're going fast already. Try modulating your throttle in a linear manner so that the transmission doesn't get confused if it will shift up or down.

For engine braking, just put it in L. I've tried going down Baguio with very mininal braking - just L.

This is one very noticeable difference when driving a car with CVT. If you opt to put the car to shift on its own, you will feel none of the sensation of going up the gears. If you are not mindful of your speedometer, you are already speeding in triple digit speeds.

To add, though I don’t have a Civic. City CVT here.

If I am not using the paddleshifters.
And If I want to achieve a specific speed (e.g around 80kmph), what I do is lightly or gradually step on the accelerator then once it reaches 2000 RPM, I quickly release the accelerator then step back on it, repeat the cycle, ‘til I reach the desired speed.
This method gives enough time for the car to recompute the correct virtual gear. And in that manner, you get enough grunt or push from the engine, without feeling uncomfortable or having the headbangin or zoom effect, plus you wouldn’t consume too much fuel by going over 3000 RPM all the time.

Touge Battle. Check out their FB page for details. Last 2 track days were in Tarlac Circuit Hill and Subic International Raceway. Other areas for track days are BRC and CIS.

Usual entry fee is 2.5k-3k depending on the track. To join, just show up during the track day. You can message the FB page to confirm your attendance and ask any questions you might have.

Helmet is required, I assume. What other requirements before bringing a daily commuter to the track?

Yes, even motorcycle helmets are okay. No other requirements. Touge Battle is the best entry point for anyone with a daily driver who wants track experience.

Your Fiesta would be making a killing in its class with its torque and handling. 😉

Thanks man! I also do that with my CVT Altis. I'm more concerned with the downshift for sudden break. Im more reliant to engine break when it comes to sudden break. I want to downshift immediately while pressing the break pedal. This is not a habit, just a precaution. That Civic has "tukso" vibe to drive faster on a clear road (responsibly ofcourse).
